I just installed vista windows mail and am using it. When I tried to use spell checker it said does not support this language. When I tried to change the language I found North American languages and english was not listed anywhere.. What the heck is going on..

I use open office if that makes any difference, I obviously accepted the wrong spelling of the word "the" and accepted the spelling as "teh" now every time I spell "the" wrong the spell checker does not find the error.

Spell Checker no longer identifies spelling errors yet grammar correction remains. I have tried registry tweaks and carefully examining the proofing options within Word 2007. I do not have a previous version for a custom install so that is not an option. Spell Check functions fine in ppt and xls but not in Word anymore. If a Word fix is not available are there any free spell checkers that will function inside a word document?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI tried what Frustrated Gloucester advised but when I clicked on Tools (outside the e-mail window) the only "options" listed is INTERNET OPTIONS no down arrows that I saw at the bottom. When I clicked internet options is shows the usual tabs...General, Security, Privacy, Content etc. etc. On the General Tab there is a Language button below "appearences" but ENGLISH is already listed. Even deleating English and re-entering english as the language does not even highlight the apply button and does not fix the problem. No wonder people roll their eyes when I tell them I use Vista Home Premium.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI just got a new LCD monitor to replace my old CRT monitor. the problem is the LCD doesn't support the resolution i used to have on the CRT which was 1280x1024. the maximum resolution on the LCD is 1280x768. well i have XP and vista dual booted and when i put up the new monitor i did everything in XP and totally forgot about doing the same thing for vista. so now my problem is when i try to log into vista i get a "Frequency out of range" because the vista resolution is 1280x1024 but now i have no idea how to fix it.

I ran the upgrade advisor and it said that i would have to update my video card since it doesn't support aero. i already have windows blinds and i tried an aero ultimate theme by fedia and aero worked fine. Fedia fedia also said that if u do not c transparent that means ur video card cannot support aero. however for me i saw the aero and experienced it so i was a little:S. I ran the upgrade advisor again and it told me that my system would support aero so now i am :S. I am very confused if i should upgrade or not and if my system would support windows home premium.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI want to use remote desktop to access my home desktop pc from on the road. I'm running Vista HPx64. Of course it doesn't support terminal server. There is however a little reg hack out there that will make it work. (Just google "remote desktop on vista home premium" and visit the first link) So! I run the little hack thing, and it works. it starts the service, and I can now RDP into my desktop from my laptop.
When I login to the remote desktop session from my laptop, it doesn't show the proper desktop profile on my desktop. Example, right now I'm typing this on my desktop. Firefox is open with several tabs, one of them being this forum post. So, if I were to open a remote desktop session from my laptop right now. I would login using the same account, my main administrator account, I would get a blank desktop..............
I'm very disappointed that windows mail doesn't support folders in the contact area. I hope some one from Microsoft see this and they reconsider putting a update to re add this feature. I just got this computer and already I want to send it back. I really need folders to keep my contacts sorted. Either add the option or let me download the old Outlook to install. And buying Office outlook is not a option.

View 6 Replies View RelatedMy laptop is newish. Maybe 2 months now. The model is Advent and I'm running Vista Home Premium. The checker wants to check the Vista drive for consistency. It want's to scan 3 stages. I only gets to the first stage and displayes someting along the lines of:

Readable/writable file not re writable. And then does nothing after this. If this information is not enough I will re do the scan and take down everything displayed. But what can be the problem? I download nothing and scan it daily. I have touched no system files and have only had a small handful of crashes. Is this proble something somebody knows how to solve. This laptop was bought for me and I cannot afford to have it repaired.
I can not find system file checker, after messing up my files in a partitioned desktop Dell XPS 420 . I want to do a restore to yesterday, but can't find system file checker first. I ran an advanced search and it gave me links that would not open. When I followed the directions for sfc to dos. I couldn't get in as administrator. (I am). Search also gave me links to windows 98 links from 2000 from my old machine. do system file checker and restore to yesterday.

I have tried running System File Checker, while confirmed that some files were corrupted, but it couldn't fix them. Eventually I worked out how to change the permissions on those files so that I can manually replace them, but can't find a fresh file to replace them with, either on the Vista DVD or on the Net.
Whenever I click the link to open an online radio station windows media player within internet explorer just says Ready - it doesn't even begin to buffer and doesn't play at all. Has anyone else experienced this recently?

I would like to remove this unwanted word, but I cannot figure out to get rid of it, since there isn't a "Remove" button in the Spell Check window. View 9 Replies View RelatedWhy does this not say American and why is English not available. 70% of words Highlighted have the correct spelling and mail simply wants to use the American corruptions. In virtually every other Microsoft product we have both English (American) and English (True or UK as normally quoted). Why not in this product after all Americans only make up some 4 or 5% of the world population?

I have gone to WORD OPTIONS; PROOFING and checked all the appropriate boxes and it still won't check my spellings. It works for the grammar but doesn't even pick up made up words that I try to test it with! I have checked my dictionary and ran the Microsoft Office Diagnostics. I have watched the tutorials and read one other post with the same problem but there was no solution for it.
