I have a small program called Voicemail Recorder which will not work using Windows Vista sp2 - Outlook Express v6. The program functions correctly - loading, recording but when I click on send it either freezes or tries to send but delivers a message "sending mail failure! General MAPI failure [2]"
I am trying to send email using aol and windows mail but my messages are not sending, this is the message that I am getting: The connection to the server has failed. Subject 'Emailing: Pirate party march 2008 001', Account: 'imap.aol.com', Server: 'smtp.aol.com', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10061, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E
Just managed to get my incoming mail sorted (hopefully full-time) and now getting the following error message when sending: 'The message could not be sent. For help solving this problem, go to Help, search for "Troubleshoot Windows Mail", and read the "I'm having problems sending e-mail" section. windows mail has trouble sending and recieving e-mail, it will download 4 or 5 messages and then lock up on one for hours till we have to cnacel and re-recieve the mail then we get duplicates of everything and then it will lock up on a different message. most messages have to be sent twice to go through mainly sending quickbooks stuff, invoices etc.. I have read a few posts so far about this we have norton antivirus. Norton says windows mail problem or isp problem. isp says norton problem email scanning is off.
I have been using Windows Mail with Vista Home Premium 32 bit and Norton 360 for about two years now. All has worked very well, but lately every so often (not all the time) when I click send on an email it disappears and does not get sent, and a message comes up and says windows mail had a problem and to check windows for new updates. The computer has all new updates. So I have to create my email all over and click send again and then it goes. This is frustrating when it is a long email to someone and it is just gone. Where does it go? I can't find it anywhere. It's just gone.
Has this happened to anyone? I have turned off the antispam feature on Norton to see if this helps, I'll keep you updated as it may be days before it does it again. Like I said it only does it every once in awhile, specially when it is real important.
I can not send outgoing mail in windows mail. I called my internet company and they cant figure it out either. There is something stopping me from receiving and sending e-mail from WINDOWS MAIL Everything else works good on my computer. If i go to the Internet and sent myself mail from there it works. What could be stopping it? I have eastlink security and i am thinking of going to avg. Do you have a link for free avg? I know this problem is not eastlink. I don't have ad-aware or any other virus program. I have Internet 8.
Reasons for not being able to send mail outbound using Windows Mail: Some say "Windows Mail is not compatible with most McAfee and Norton antivirus programs. Those will need to be uninstalled, NOT just disabled."
Others say "it sounds like interference from a spyware/spamware program" - what nonsense! It seems for Microsoft it was the best of times, it was the worst of times when they launched Windows Vista.....

I can receive mail using Windows Mail, but not send - I get the following error:
The connection to the server has failed. Subject 'Re: hello from Oz', Account: 'Ruth Egerton', Server: 'smtp.tiscali.co.uk', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10013, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E
The account details are exactly as on my previous (Windows XP) laptop, so I'm confident that is not the problem.
Windows Mail options tell me that Windows Mail is NOT the default mail handler, but clicking the "Make Default" button has no apparent effect. Running "Set Program Access and Computer Defaults" from Control Panel, I am told that the default e-mail program is the current e-mail program, and am not given any way of setting it to Windows Mail (or even told what program Windows thinks IS the default).
I have MS Office 97 installed, but did not install Outlook. I saw somewhere that Office thinks Outlook is the default mail program, whether it's there or not.
I can receive but cannot send e-mail. Here is the error message that I get. I've checked all of my settings and they appear to be correct. The message could not be sent. My mail act's like it's sending but then stays in my out box and has not sent. I've tried moving it to drafts, I.ve checked options for sending with pictures, also keeps telling me 'sending 2 of 2' when I've only got one message to send?
My email provider is 1and1. I followed their guidance in setting up a Windows Mail account. I managed to transfer my indox but not my messages sent, and I am unable to send messages from my Windows Mail account. The error message that I get is:

I've been having trouble for the last month sending e-mail with windows Mail. I talked to my ISP several times, changed setting etc. Finally today I talked to a CSR that looked at the server setting and he said the settings from me were incorrect. For Windows Mail to work "Relay" has got to be "ON" or "Active" Maybe thi will halp someone.
I had Vista service pack 1 installed today by tech support, but I don't know if that matters. Tonight, my ability to send messages was intermittant, now I cannot send any. No problem receiving email. Error message: Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity. I have checked all server settings but all in order.AV is AGV Free, have custom installed this to disable email scanner,to no avail.Had a trial version of Norton and uninstalled this using the Norton Uninstall program off their site. Same message regardless of email address being sent to. This is driving me nuts...

I have recently purchased a new computer (Dell Inspiron ) running Windows desktop home premium. I transferred everything over from the old computer to the new and everything works splendidly, except Windows Mail. I am not for sure if this problem surfaced after a short period of using my new computer or if this was there from the get-go, but I cannot get my Windows mail to send. It receives just fine, on all accounts and sends fine on all accounts but my main one. I have a mail server with my domain hosting service and every time I attempt to send mail through this account I get the Windows security box that says logon to my mail server. I typed in username and password, click okay, and wait. The box pops back up and says logon again. Apparently for some reason it's not accepting my user name and password. I've gone through all the settings with tech support, including using the various ports they recommend. Still no go. I don't know what else I can do, I don't even know where the problem is emanating from, all I know is I cannot send my e-mail using my primary account.
when I sent mail with three photos attached the recepients cannot open them. As a test I send myself an email with the same photos on three occasions.First my computer sends 84 the same emails then 64, then the third time 32. They show in my inbox but then they are all condensed.
I am running Vista, Windows Mail, and Ms 8.5 i cannot send a document through Ms, i can go to windows mail add attachment and send it that way. But i'd still like to no why windows mail will not send through Ms. I also tried windows explorer right clicked the file then send nothing happened.
I have had a problem for some time sending and replying to emails. I've tried to download the patches but I get a message stating that the software does not apply to my computer. This is the message I get when the send fails:

I can sometimes send one message, then I get this when I try to send another. I've contacted my provider and they can't see any problems on their end.
after reading the many threads already with this problem. I have realized that this problem is kind of pervasive. My problem is this just happened after several weeks of no problems I havent even changed any settings or anything, went to send an email to a friend and it gave me this error code: The host 'plus.stmp.mail.yahoo.com' could not be found. verify that you have entered the server name correctly. Why do I get this message? This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the Set Association control panel. Where do I find the Set Association control panel and how do I create an an association?
Is there a senting in Windows mail that I have to change to be able to send to more then 20 contacts? I keep getting too many recipients error. or should I just use another program?
Following account setup for google mail I cannot send mail and this message appears: The connection to the server has failed. Subject 'test', Account: 'pop.gmail.com', Server: 'smtp.gmail.com', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

I have tried this with AVG anti-virus on and off and "Log on using Secure Password Authentication" is unchecked. What corrections can I make in Windows Mail to send and receive mail in this POP account?
Having used my present system on Windows Mail for a year it has suddenly decided not to send emails. I have looked at previous posts and tried everything - the message error I'm getting now is 0x800CCC7D. It's happening with all posts even one which is just a receipt message from an incoming post. I have AVG virus cover and Super Antispyware but have tried to find out if these are relevant the problem and had no joy.
