I keep getting this error constantly and its hard even to press F8 to get into the advanced start up options. I've tried running in safe mode and tried going to last know good startup point, but both end up giving me the bsod.
it seems that a lot of people are having a problem with running System Restore in Normal Mode - but it works OK in Safe Mode. The only problem is that running it in Safe Mode, you can't undo the restore.
I'm getting a BSOD right when Vista gets to the login screen on startup. The system will boot to safe mode, but I have no idea how to fix it from there. This happened suddenly on a system that has been running stable for 6+ months. At first I thought that perhaps some of my RAM was bad, so I tried booting with just one stick in (I have 4x1gb), but it wouldn't boot on any of them. My other suspicion was that I had installed drivers for a new keyboard that night before (as that was the only recent change to my system configuration), so I deleted those, but that didn't help either. I'm thinking my next move is to flash my BIOS, but I'm running out of ideas......
I've got this major bluescreen issue. Two days ago, I just restarted my pc for no particular reason, and when it was about to start it gives me this bluescreen. It starts up, I get the loading bar, but then bluescreen. I tried to chose any of the safe modes, but none of them work, just gives me the bluescreen again. To sum all this, I can?t start my computer due to a bluescreen issue, not even with safemodes. It gives me alot of text, but the screen dissappears after a few seconds so I can?t even read two lines. I'm running a HP Pavilion m8055.sc with Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit
This has not been a week that's made me much enamored of Vista. In order to troubleshoot my parents' Vista PC after their wireless mouse/keyboard suddenly stopped working after 4/9's automatic updates, I had to a do a system restore from Safe Mode. Their corded USB keyboard we got to work (along with a PS2 mouse) to do the fixing wouldn't work using the F8-method to get into Safe Mode, so I had use MSCONFIG to force a safe mode boot.
The system restore worked, and I've disabled automatic updates until MS comes out with a fix for the apparently widespread original problem, but now I'm stuck with a very frustrating situation. My parents' computer will only boot up into Selective Startup (which leaves some important things such as graphics drivers unloaded) or into Safe Mode. Within MSCONFIG, when I choose "Normal Startup", it automatically checks the "Safe Mode" Box in the boot tap, and when I uncheck that box, it automatically selects "Selective Start" on the previous tab. (I've tried hitting apply on each of the tabs, but it doesn't help). I've found a few other threads with this same problem across the web, but never found a solution.
Using my ISP (Roadrunner Carolinas) speed test site; I get around 200 to 400 kbps download speeds using IE in normal mode. If I boot to Safe Mode, I get around 3500 to 4500 kbps, which is what it should be (this is what I used to get in normal mode before I re-installed Vista). Running the same speed test with Firefox, I get around 1500 to 2000 kbps in normal mode, but if I try to download a file it ransfers at only the 200 to 400 kbsp rate (if I'm lucky). Here's more detail about the system and what I've done so far:
Installed all updates including SP2. Using Windows Firewall, no anti-virus. Updated network drivers directly from NVidia (Chipset is nForce750i) Updated graphics card drivers directly from NVidia Disabled all LAN protocols except for Client for Microsoft Networks and IPv4 Connected via ethernet cable directly to cable modem, no router. I've deliberately refrained from loading anything but the basics until I can get this sorted out..........
In the Triggers tab for Task Scheduler for System Restore it shows a trigger at system startup but there is no system restore point that was created this morning when I started my system. I fact I so none after 1/31 except for an uninstall I did. I have plenty of free disk space (100 gb free of 149 gb). How can I set this so that every day when I start my system System Restore creates a restore point?
I have been using this set up for almost a year. Today Power Point 2003 started closeing constantly! It says check for updates I did that installed them and rebooted no change. Then I ran error checking with repair on the hard drive no change. Then I did a repair on Power Point thru the Control Panel, still no change.
I've tried and tried, please I hope you can help me. I have a Toshiba A215-4817 laptop with Vista Home Premium 32bit. My troubles began when my cd/dvd was not operating properly. Toshiba support said my operating system was corrupt. I didn't believe that just because the cd/dvd wasn't working properly that the os is corrupt, maybe they were right.
I have extremely important info on my hd as I do taxes for a living.
In an effort to trouble shoot the cd/dvd I booted into safe mode. No-one tole me that the administrator account is disabled by default! So now I can't get out of safe mode. I have access to only my limited user account and uac is enabled. System restore doesn't change boot options.
I can't edit registry = access denied, cmd.exe when trying to activate administrator account = system error 5.
My son kept shutting the laptop w/o powering down and now it starts in safe mode. The first time I rebooted and this solved the problem but now that won't work. I can't get it to go back to normal. This has happened in the past but I can't remember what I did to fix it.
I had an issue with one of my games and it directed me to go into safe mode to uninstall it. Now that it's uninstalled, I can't get out of safe mode. I've been through this forum in and out. I've done nearly all the things that it has stated that come close to my issue. I'm still in here. I've been in and out for 3 hours now. I've gone through the msconfig, and told it to restart in normal mode, I'm still in safe mode. I've used the F8 button while starting it, and told it to go to safe mode, I'm still here. I've even checked to see if it was the resolution, I've set it to my default settings of 1280x720, and restart it, it's still in safe mode. I've done EVERYTHING that I can think of.
I press f5 or is it f8. but either way I get to the Safe Mood Selection screen and no matter what option I select, Safe Mode or Safe Mode with Prompts, of Safe Mood with Network support, it doesn't matter it boots normal to my user sign in screen and then it freezes.. no mouse or keyboard functions... If I run the recovery disk and tool options then mouse and keyboard work but I still cannot boot up in safe mode nor can I boot up normal.. I just need to get into safe mode and then I believe I can resolve this but since I can't get into safe mode I don't know what else to do?
I had trend doing a new scan a more complete one while it was doing it i went in i could stop it hit cancel stop safe box and computer wouldreturn to normal I thought that was 6 hourds ago well after i deletedtrend it still in a safe mode.
I can say is I changed trend to do a real good cleaning of all of folders etc. When I got the safe mode I found trend was doinmg a scan so I stopped it and then it said close and stop safe mode which I did. I also deleted trend to. I m really bad I dont know what I did. I use that I had brain surgery and I m just dah sometimes.
I have a new motherboard (abit nh-m2sv), X2 +3800 processor, 2 gig pc4200 memory ATI graphics, DVD RW, Maxtor SATA drive, all are suppose to be Vista ready, but vista either won't install, or installs with BSOD's then will only run in Safe Mode.
I have tried Home Basic and premium, the same issue, I install my old faitful XP and it goes straight in. I have run memtest, all fine, I have removed the gfx card, no change, I have tried an IDE hdd rather than a SATA no change.
Vista will not boot into Safe mode or Normally. The mouse pointer sits on the screen and can be moved but the logon screen does not appear. When I go into startup repair it says it "Could not detect a problem". I have run a chkdsk /f which ran clean. What else can I try to make the logon screen appear?
I?m have a troubling issue with my computer as it is stuck on a cycle boot when it passes the windows loading screen and then it simply restarts and does a POST test again. I tried pushing F8 key and selecting all the options
safe mode safe mode with command prompt safe mode with networking Go to last working configuration (advanced) Start Windows Normally ect....
but as I selected safe mode all the windows emergency drivers are loading then the screen go black and repeats the same problem above. I don?t have a cdrom neither an fdd only a usb flash drive.
I have a dell laptop with Vista factory installed. The other day is stopped booting and it can not repair itself. I am attempting to get into safe mode to check a few things out. However pressing or holding F8 while rebooting does not work for me. I have tried about 50 times. If I can not get windows to load are there any other ways through the command prompt or something to get windows to load in safe mode?
I am running Vista home Basic SP 2 and ( Emachine Desktop) Vista Home Premium SP 2 (Acer Laptop) when ever I come out from safe mode back to normal Windows it all ways opens with Windows Standard on both< is that normal? its no big deal to change it to vista Basic or Aero or anything else just curious is that the way it goes?
when I boot into safe mode, I am unable to do anything, install, open folders as nothing works, I have no error messages, just nothing works, if I take out 2 gigs leaving me with only 2 gigs everthing is just perfect I have tried installing the hotfix that I see on the forums "Windows6.0-KB929777-v2-x64.msu but it gives a error saying that its not for my machine I am running buiness edition Vista 64 Apart from this my machine runs just fine and for the last 6 months, only the safe mode gives me problems with the 4 gigs
I know you guys have heard again and again, "my computer will only boot in safemode, And yes I have seen it many times before but this is the first time I was never given a choice to the matter. When the computer boots it goes right for safemode even if I press "F8" select Boot computer normaly and it will still go into safemode.
1) Installed Vista Ultimate - all worked fine no issues - besides not bieng able to detect more thn 9 channels. 2) I removed my Kworld DBV-T driver after having restarted and it detected the panasonic chiset driver. 3) Restarted again recieved 0x0000007e, 4) Safemode and i got 0x0000008e 5) Tried to restore last known good config i got STOP: C0000218 (registry file failure)

I have a computer I can only boot into safe mode. I recently rebuilt a cannabolized HP computer and I cannot boot the machine into windows. I have tried three different, working, hard drives on it, but have had no luck. One of the drives is the original to the machine and runs Vista Ultimate 32bit. Vista booted suceessfully prior to the cannabolization. The second hard drive runs XP Home and also boots into Safe Mode only. The third hard has no OS so I tried installing a commercial version of Vista which was unsuccessful. Computer would crash. I ran a few hardware tests and the memory, cpu, optical drive, and hard drive check out. I don't think anything is wrong with the motherboard as the computer worked fine before. The computer is stable in BIOS setup, and when booting to optical disc. No POST errors.
The hardware I added should be compatible with the motherboard (M2n68-Narra2) as I checked with HP website. The hardware I added: Antec 500watt power supply, DDR2 8Gb Ram, Sony DVD drive, Samsung 640Gb HD, Thermaltake CPU cooler, AMD X2 5600+ processor. I am out of ideas on how to make the computer boot into Windows
turns out that most likely the culprit for my computer acting different is because of Microsoft Office. The problem I have is with not being able to get microsoft updates, open control panel, etc. I went into safe mode and tried to uninstall, but it would not let me. So I cold deleted from the program files folder. However, now that I'm in regular mode, my computer is still acting like before. How do I resolve this?..
every time my computer boots up in goes in safe mode...i tried restoring to earlier point...tried last know good configuration....tried repair computer...nothing is working.
I had tried to see if I could use one monitor for 2 computers and now I'm unable to get back to the way it was. In display settings they showed screen 1 and 2. I had asked to few screen 2 and that did it. There are no icons, nothing. Just background. No start either. I am however able to right click and get to the control panel, but some places will not respond like the one I need to get to. (Display settings) Safe mode won't even work. Can't even get to the registry.
I am using ASUS G51VX which I purchased last month. Since each time I wanted to install files which are over 1GB will become extremely slow. I decide to use the ASUS recovery disc to recover my Vista home premium. However, now each time after the loading screen, my PC will not process and enter the Window. I tried also with safe mode but it is not working.
