Sep 17, 2009My problem is quite similar to Power Options is Missing i ran sfc /scannow and it reported that "pnidui.dll" was corrupt so i downloaded it and replaced the current one with the downloaded one (removed the unblocking thing etc) (just like the other guy did) I ran sfc /scannow again and i STILL get errors.

Mar 20, 2009I have recently installed Vista x32 on my new computer and some of the icon's pictures are missing. The icon is there and I can click on it but the picture representing that icon is missing. The weird thing is that if I change my colours to 16 Bit the icon's picture reappears. It does not single out any particular icon. Has anyone had this problem, if so, how do fix it?

I tried looking in "Taskbar and Start Menu Properties" and under the "Notification Area" but the power box under "System icons" was avaliable for checking.
Wifi Icon Missing From Taskbar
Aug 1, 2009how to restore the wifi icon in the taskbar? I have vista home premium on an HP laptop. It was there this morning, and now, when i turned it on, its gone. I right clicked on the taskbar, then left clicked on properties, found the notification area, and the network square is grayed out so I can't put a check in it. I think that is what would put the icon back next to the battery icon.

Icon Missing The Start Menu
Jun 16, 2008I noticed last night that the icon was missing from the start menu for Spywareblaster. I'm not sure if it has been missing since I installed it, but I tried deleting the icon cache and uninstalling/reinstalling Spywareblaster, but the icon remains missing. If I right click on the shortcut within the menu and select properties-change icon, the correct icon is shown there. Not a major problem, just a bit annoying that the usual fixes don't seem to correct it.

The machine's running just great but after the last restart (to complete the uninstall of Ad-Aware) my little Lexmark All-In-One printer icon is missing from the notification area. It's usually placed right next to my network icon. I've tried restarting the service (an app called `lxcz_device') using `services.msc' but to no avail. The printer works just fine. how to get that icon back again without doing another restart?

Dec 19, 2009I got a blue screen the other day while surfing on my Powere Utility Service sites. Upon reboot my desktop came up minus the little Network icon in the Notification area of the taskbar. Also missing was my Realtek HD Audio Manager icon for my PC speakers. I tried re-establishing these but wasn't successful. Then I tried another reboot and the Realtek icon came back, but the Network icon is still missing. I had to do another restart after a power failure and this time the same Network icon was missing.

Mar 23, 2008I have a problem watching som of my images with different types ofprograms. This happens when I want to attach pictures to whatever I'm doing, i.e email, Ebay Turbo lister, and similar. If I can see the picture using Windows Explore I can attached it with out problems. I'm able to see all the pictures with Windows Photo Gallery - no problem. 99% of my pictures are edited with IrfanView 4.0 and are saved as .jpeg, .bit, and .gif. First I thought it was only files I had transfered from my XP desktop with a USB memory stick.
This is not the case. It happens even now with pictures I'm editing using IrfanView on my laptop. Sometimes they are there and sometimes they are not. I don't save my pictures in the default Windows picture folder - they are mostly saved in the folder of the program the will be using the picture, such as an picture folder in the Turbo Lister folder. I use Windows Explore a lot to drag pictures from one folder to another if needed be. Today I noticed a button on the Windows Explore which says: "Compatability Files". When I move the pointer over the button it says: "Show the compatability files for this directory". So, I clicked it and suddenly all the pictures I couldn't find were there. The problem is that all the pictures I could already see dissapered and so did the "Compatability Files button". The only way I could get back to the previous pictures was usingv the "Back" button. In both views there were files in different save format and files edited both on my Vista laptop and my XP desktop - no special pattern to this - some here, some there. Either way I can't find the so called "Compatability Files" when I want to use the pictures with different programs - I don't get an option to switch to the "Compatability Files" when trying to attach them to whatever I'm doing. Is there somewhere I can change some setting so I see the pictures all the time with any program I use?????

May 15, 2010PC: HP Windows Media Center PC m8200n; Monitor HP w1907. November 2007. OS: Windows Vista Home Premium. HP: Deskjet F4180. So I noticed that the printer icon for my printer became all white, IE a corrupted icon. So I went online and found information on how to refresh your icon folder. That didn't do anything. So I thought I'd uninstall and reinstall.
I have tried to reinstall my HP software from disc, and I get a 'new PSSWCORE.msi' file. I see the file on the install disc, yet it won't install. 'Network resource is unavailable.'
Now I cannot uninstall it. On my Add/Remove I see:
HP Customer Participation Program 9.0
HP All In One Software 9.0
HP Imaging device Functions 9.0
HP On-Screen Cap/Num/Scroll Lock Indicator
HP Photosmart Essential
HP Update
How can I get these off my PC, and reinstall cleanly so I can use my rinter/scanner again?
Start Menu Icon But Displays A Generic Icon
Apr 19, 2008I installed new software and pinned the executable to the start menu. But, Vista displays a generic icon in the start menu for this program. All other programs pinned to the start menu display the correct icon. Any way to get Vista to dispaly the proper icon for this program??

Jun 10, 2008Today I switched on Windows Defender(for the first time)and ran a quick scan which was fine, but I've noticed a new icon in the systems tray with a green circle and a tick in it.When I hover the pointer over it, it says "Safely Remove Hardware".I've looked everywhere for an explanation but can't find any info anywhere. Can someone tell me what it means please.Also,do I need Defender on as I have McAfee Security Centre installed on my pc.
