I'm using my copy of windows xp service pack 2 right now. also I have a problem with my computer where I can not boot up from the xp cd but I know the dvd drive is working because when its on the desktop it registers the cd. also i know the keyboard is working because obviously i typed this post. I have a gigabyte motherboard with amd athlon dual core 2.2.

I'm new to Vista so have no idea whats going on. I've partitioned by data to Drive M so that leaves C: to the OS and application programs. I'd expect about 5Gb to be OK for that but on the Partition that is C: 136Gb wide, I'm gobsmacked to find that 51Gb is in use and only 89Gb left free?

I have a gateway laptop p6860-FX. The problem is that I thought when I put a password on the BIOS that if the laptop was stolen the person would have to go thru alot of trouble to crack it. I just found out at Gateways site that all I have to do to clear the BISO password is 1) tun laptop off 2) set a the number one jumper to set three for a whole two seconds, retun the jumper back to set one and then tun the laptop back on BAM the BIOS pw is gone. CAN i do anything to the laptop to make it worthless if it is stolen? This is absurd in a whole two seconds my 1,300 laptop if stolen can be fully used as if it was never password protected.
