Atm All Of The Ram Slots Are Filled

Apr 29, 2010

I have this motherboard (half way down the page you will see my motherboard's diagram) (atm all of the ram slots are filled): Motherboard Specifications, M2N68-LA (Narra2) HP Pavilion a6110n Desktop PC - HP Customer Care (Canada - English) This is the graphics card that ive been looking at: Newegg.com - XFX HD-575X-ZNFC Radeon HD 5750 1GB 128-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card my hunch is that it is going to bump the ram a little bit. what i want to know is that if it bumps my ram, will it still work? (all ram slots are filled). If necessary i can remove one of my ram cards. What i want to know is is is that graphics card going to fit on my pcie X16? Its a gamble but i dont gamble 130 dollars worth of silicone, metal, and plastic (gosh i can hardly even spend 5 dollars on something).

Where Is Processor Name Filled In?

Nov 6, 2009

There are many programs, which get our processor name (e.g. "QuadCore Intel Core 2 Q9550, 2833 MHz (8.5 x 333)" in Everest). I wonder if I could deceive these programs by changing some variable (in register?), so programs couldn't get my real processor name.

Usb Slots Won't Work

Jun 28, 2009

My laptop is a Sony Vaio VGN-FZ480E which I think is having driver problems. Whatever I put into the SD/MS slots or any USB slots won't work with the computer. It tells me to format it, and it will only work with it after I format it. My memory cards and flash drives work everywhere else, just not with this computer. As you can imagine, its a huge problem for me as i cannot use anything external with this computer. Please someone help me figure out the problem and solve it.....

Memory Card Slots - How To Use?

Sep 22, 2009

(Running Vista Ultimate 64-bit, SP-2, IE-7, WM-6, classic mode, dial-up, on an HP Pavilion desktop computer.) Computer runs fine. In the past I have transferred photos from my digital camera via a cable to a USB port, and that process has worked fine. A friend showed me how to remove the memory card (type: SD) from my camera, and how to insert it into one of the cluster of 4 different sized slots on my computer. When inserted a small green light comes on, but nothing else happens. Based on his experience with his computer, I was expecting, in Windows Explorer, for a lettered disk to appear, listing the photos on the memory card using the camera provided numbers - but, as mentioned, nothing happened. What is the next step after inserting the memory card and noting that the green light is on?

Cannot Use More Than Two Slots On The Memory Board

May 29, 2008

I an using Vista Ultimate SP1 on a Gigabyte mobo with a Q6600 CPU but cannot use more than two slots on the memory board. I run nicely if I populate two of the slots with 1GB matched memory but the minute I populate the other two slots with the same brand of matched 1GB memory boards, I get a BSOD. Is this a Vista problem? If I use either of the mobo slots to test the memory (provided its not more than 1 GB each) they both work. The mobo is GA-EP35C-DS3R.

Remote Desktop: Half Filled In

Dec 3, 2009

I'm trying to enable Remote Desktop in Vista. When I go to Remote Settings the window only seems to have the top half filled in. Meaning that I see only 1 checkbox "Allow Remote Assistance connections to this computer". There is no radio buttons on the bottom half as there is in all the examples on the web. My windows firewall is off. I am running McAfee.

More RAM, Use All Four Slots, The Network Card Stops Working

Mar 23, 2008

My Dell 8400 had XP. We upgraded to Vista a month ago. No problems with the
wireless network card. (Netgear WG311 v.3)

HOWEVER - we decided to purchase more RAM for the pc. We called Dell to
purchase the RAM so it would be compatible. We had two 512MB cards in dual
slots. We ordered two 1GB cards to place in the remaining dual slots. That
gives us 3GB of RAM. Vista maxes out at 4MB according to what was sent to me
by NetGear.

The problem is that if we use all four slots, the network card stops
working. If we use two 1GB cards in dual slots, the network card works fine.
If we use all four slots, the network card stops working. We changed the
cards around so the 1GB cards were in one set and the 512MB cards in another
set. We had them paired each time, so that was not the problem.

We ordered two more 1GB cards with the thought that because the four we had
were not quadruplets, that might be the problem. It isn't. Dell took back
the extra RAM.

Dell support blames the problem on NetGear. NetGear blames the problem on
Vista. The technician at NetGear sent me a kb of Vista limits for RAM. When
I replied that we hadn't maxed out on RAM, I got an email that the email I
sent in reply couldn't be delivered.

Control Panel Is Showing Only A Screen Filled With Confusing Icons

Feb 6, 2009

How do I tell if my Vista Home Premium has SP1 installed?? In Win XP I could go to Control Panel > System > System Info (or something like that) and see the version of XP. In Vista, the Control Panel shows only a screen filled with confusing icons
and labels. And -- what is the latest SP for my system?
