I have been using windows mail for a year with no real problems but a few days ago it closed down while I was trying to send and email and then restarted itself saying it had not been closed down correctly last time and this may have been down to the last message read - I have tried deleting messages but this just keeps
happening everytime I use it.
I have a new computer since Feb.14th and have been dumped 80 times. The most I got straightened out but there are 26 that say Windows shut down and when I checked this is the file...Mini 030508-01.dmp sysdata.xml Version.txt why is Windows shutting me down?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI just got an Acer Aspire last week. OS Vista basic. It came with a trial version of McAfee, so i uninstalled. Currently using AVG 8.0. Also running windows defender. On boot, security icon in tray indicates the windows firewall is shut down. I'm not sure if defender or AVG has built in firewall that is taking over ans shutting off the windows firewall.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI let my mom use my laptop while I was sleeping, absolutely NO problems with it it's an HP with vista and when I got it from her and turned it on the speaker volume had an x over it and when I put the mouse over it it says No Audio Device found or somethin and alsooo wifi isn't working i switch the button to on yet it shows no sign of any wifi being on, and then the worst of all it keeps jus shutting itself down after being on for 3 minutes or so and then restarts by itself then when I log in again it jus does it all over again. If I boot it in safe mode it has the speaker pornlems and no Internet wifi signs but it doesn't shut off by itself.
View 4 Replies View RelatedHave quite a few mail rules to direct incoming mail to subfolders. Each
rule ends with "Stop processing more rules". Rules work consistently, EXCEPT when first starting Win Mail. What often (though not always) happens upon start is that some messages are not being processed by the rules and are left in the Inbox. These messages have the same rule-related characteristics as messages successfully processed by the rule that were processed earlier when WinMail was already running at the time message was received.
I've verified that the rule is correct by then using the "Apply Now" feature for the rule that should handle such messages. The messages then get directed to the correct subfolder. This does NOT occur with just one rule, but seems to happen randomly, depending upon which messages are being received when WinMail starts up. It's almost as if WinMail begins to download messages before the rules have been loaded. Don't know if there is such a sequence in WinMail.
Pretty much from the word go Vista was locking up hard. Its response to pretty much any problem it encounters is immediately freeze and be unrecoverable. It's not all random and without pattern, however. Initially it was clear that Windows Update was causing an issue. Shutting off Windows Update didn't stop the freezing, but it prevented the system from freezing 100% of the time minutes after the OS loaded up. Trying to update manually did the same thing. I eventually discovered that there is a temp folder I can delete related to updates that will stop this problem, but it only works for a day or two before it goes back to freezing.
Oh, but that's not all... I've been able to figure out a number of specific things that can cause freezes over repeatedly doing them... Sort of. For example:
* If I start up Google Chrome or Firefox within 5 minutes of getting to the desktop, there's a good chance I'll freeze on some random web page.
* A video player made my system freeze. A flash one. One I'd run perfectly fine before. I went to the page, freeze. Restarted. Went back to the page, immediate freeze. Stopped going to that page... Next day that page and that player worked fine..........
When I try to re-start Windows, the computer shuts down and try to start but instead beeps three times and don't start, then I have to press the power button to shut it down and wait about 10 minutes before starting again.

Hello, I came accross your forum and decided to give it a try since I saw the helpful people posting in other threads. I've asked this question in many other forums but no one seems to know whats wrong. For a few days now my PC would start and get to a black screen with a blinking "_" in the upper left corner. I would turn it off then turn it on again and it would work. I figured I'd just clean the dust out of it and do a factory restore later on (which I did).
But since yesterday, I've had to do 4 or 5 restores to set it to factory condition. It gets to the point where I get to that screen and I wait 5 or 10 minutes, then the screens says "fail to boot disk, please insert disk" or something. so I place in the disk that my PC promted to make when i first got it (for restoring and repairing it and such) and then everything works again. but eventually with all the automatic updates i have to restart of course, and it starts up again fine, but
after about 2 or 3 restarts it fails again.........
The Windows Event Log service does not start even though it is set for AUtomatic load. It will not even start when I go into Services and try to start it manually. The error message is: Windows could not start the Windows Event Log Service on Local Computer. Error 1079: The account specified for this service is different from the account specified for other services running in the same process. The Network connection the Internet does not start at boot time. Instead I have to click Diagnose & Repair and then click Restart the DHCP client service. Then it works.................

So when I sign on to get my computer up and running, it says that I have not run my Windows Defender for over 3 days and it should be done. I have it in "Automatically to run daily at 5:00AM." I am wondering if it is not running because the computer is not turned on at this time? When I then hit scan, it does do a full scan without any problems. I am wondering why , if you have any ideas why it is not doing it "Automatically". Have I done something wrong? I have gone into tools and checked, and it is set for what I stated above.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI haven't been able to start Windows past the green loading bar. The first couple of days when I tried to turn on the computer it would take me to an 'Error Start Up' screen where I would try to restart using safe mode or something.
Now though, it does the blue HP screen, then goes black with a grey loading bar that says "Loading Files" and then from there it goes to the green loading bar. This has happened to me once before, although, it was fixed in just a couple of days. I removed the main power cord and left it out for a day and when I tried again, it worked. I've tried doing that now, but no such luck......
Windows Vista won't start up anymore. Various problems occur during the start up that prevent it from starting up. It occurred around 3pm or 4pm today when i was just on the internet and talking with my friend on MSN and then BAM! BSOD! The PC rebooted itself and came back up, but then it began giving me a looping 'windows explorer.exe has stopped working' error. So I rebooted again.
I tried Last known good configuration and it didn't work. Gives me a flashing BSOD and the PC restarts itself. Attempts to boot into normal mode sometimes brings BSOD and sometimes just stays black before the circular Windows vista logo that should appear.......
I have a DELL Inspiron 1525 Laptop Computer. I shut down irregularly yesterday, and now, when I try to start it up, I get a message stating:

You have two options:
Launch Startup Repair (Recommended)
Launch Windows Normally
When I try either option it takes FOREVER, and I never get back into Windows Vista. With the first option it just brings up a progress status bar like it is doing something, then the screen goes blank (perhaps a timeout on the laptop). For the second option it just brings up the progress status bar, and it seems like it is doing something....but after hours it is still showing that progress bar.
Everytime i enter to my user, the explorer.ese doesn't load but the document file loads. To enter to the user i use the task bar (i ctrl alt delet) then i nw task the explorer. This started happing after I was virused. i was able of removing the virus but i can't fix my computer. I think maybe on of the seeting was deleted from the system 32. I tried a lot of stuff but i counldn't fix th problem. I even tried creating a bat file that starts the explorer everytime but i failled, cause it will start when the account starts not before.

I turn on my computer. Windows loads then I get a message (as soon as windows is done loading all up) that "Windows will be shutting down in less than a minute."
So it shuts down, restarts, and when it gets back on my User Account Control is turned off. So I turn User Account Control back on and it's fine until the next morning. Sometimes, but not often it will do this after my computer has been Hibernating for a while.
I wish to run a task (to dismount a network hard drive) whenever shutting down. I have noticed that the Task Scheduler has a trigger called, 'On local disconnect from any user session'. I have setup a task based on this trigger, but it doesn't execute when I do a shutdown.

View 8 Replies View RelatedFor the last few days or so I have been having problems with Vista Home Premuim 64bit not shutting down properly or looging off. I click on shut down and then the computer will just hang for a about 5mins and then decide to shut off sometimes or if it does not then the only way I can get it to turn off is by holding the power button in, which I dont really like doing. I have closed all programmes down by the clock on the task bar and the problem is still the same. Do you recommend trying a clean boot? I really want to try and find out where this problem lies as I don't really want to go through another reinstall of Vista.

However, each time i add the project in and click next, windows shuts dvd maker down. The problem and resolutions page suggests i try disabling lmpgtspl.ax, which i have done to no avail. I can add in the individual unedited video clips without issue, but not the finished project. I can publish the project on my computer and burn it onto DVD that way, but i then lose certain features, such as scenes etc.

I got my computer back and they replaced the motherboard and it stopped shutting off but I still cannot choose a user, and when i try to switch users the screen flickers and then nothing happens. I get no error messages or anything.

I have to push the reset button in the middle of the shuting down process in order to get the computer to respond. This results in black screen and Advanced Startup Options. Opting for Normal Mode will start up Vista ok, but it is really annoying to have to go via Advanced Options every time I am going to boot up.

Running AMD 4000 cpu I know that none of the programs in the computer are running during this shut down. It's almost like something in Vista forgot to tell the hard ware to quit. I went to energy settings in control panel and put on "never" for turning off, and the cpu doesn't shut down, but the monitor goes off. I assume same thing with xp would work?
