View 9 RepliesI used to have it on my computer.
But last time I tried to play it didn't work.
It said that I have to re-install it. But when I put the disc in it say that it cant find the location folder.
So I tried to un-install, but it say I cant do that.
I looked through previous threads here, and found one about how to delete it from the start menu -> regedit etc.
Follewed the intstructions, but I dont have a EA game folder, Maxis folder or any other folder for the game.
If you uninstall a program like mcafee, how do you reinstall it?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI ran four businesses with Windows XP and Outlook Express email entities. I now have Vista and much to my chagrin, Windows Mail has no such option. I'd like to spend ten minutes alone with an aluminum baseball bat and the whiz kid who thought up that little improvement. Also, the idiotic way to create shortcuts in Vista. I run gun auctions on the internet and need to do shortcuts all the time for various auctions as they update. I now have a Dell Studio XPS 435TM with 12 gig RAM. Can I uninstall Vista and reinstall my old XP program so I can replace Windows Mail with Outlook Express again?

View 9 Replies View RelatedAt the moment I have no Office because I was advised when Word 2003 would crash on start and have to be restarted in safe mode to uninstall and reinstall it. Now I can't get it loaded at all. My very expensice IT guy spent 2 hours and gave up the HP people (this is a brand new laptop) said Vista isn't compatible with Office Pro 2000 which we upgraded from...I have 8 computers running 2003...The other issue is that when I click on a message in hotmail it crashes. No message, just a freeze. What a hassle - I have no Outlook because of problem 1 and no hotmail because of problem 2. Wish I'd been warned... I guess I really was - all those HP machines with extra cost to be 'downgraded' to XP.

View 5 Replies View Relatedcan you tell me a way to uninstall Call of Duty other than through putting in the disk and pressing UNINSTALL or in the 'All Programs'? Because it just won't uninstall there: I press install and the window simply closes and nothing else. I am asking this because I have found some patches on the Activision website (now I can get on it again) and I wan't to reinstall it...

I was having problems installing a program (Berlitz German Premier) where the install would just disappear halfway thru the process. A program would not appear under my programs list but when I went to Uninstall an icon for uninstall of the Berlitz software appears for each time I tried to install it. However I get the following error messages (see attached document with screen captures) when I tried to delete it the traditional way.
When I use Windows Install Clean Up utility, the program is nowhere to be found on the list; thus I can't use that program.
Somehow the 'uninstall' button disappeared for most programs on my Vista Home Premium box when I used Control Pannel -> Programs -> Uninstall a Program. A few programs still have 'uninstall' button available - those have 'installed on' showing. The rest (80+% of all)don't have 'installed on' values showing and don't have 'uninstall' button.

I thought once a program was installed, all you have to do is double click on it and it runs automatically?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI originally sought help for a problem with a hotfix, KB978251, which my machine would not accept. Over in the Updates thread, here, kb978251 cannot install: why? Flavius was gracious enough to respond. After running the diagnostics and posting the results he'd requested, the end result seems to be that my installation of Vista is corrupted.
His advice was to reinstall vista or upgrade to Windows 7. I am loathe to accept either course of action. The reinstall directions by Brink, here, Repair Install For Vista states explicity,
IF YOU HAVE THE VISTA SP2 INSTALLED: This will not work if you have SP1 and SP2 installed unless your Vista installation DVD includes SP2. I, of course, have SP2 installed. My Vista installation DVD did NOT include SP2; I patched my install to SP1, then later, to SP2.
To confirm, is it impossible to repair Vista if SP2 is installed and my DVD did NOT contain SP2?
Without reformatting my computer and starting from scratch, a course of action which seems quite drastic and perhaps not what Microsoft designed their OS to be known for, how can I repair my Vista installation?
My sfc files are attached. My understanding is that I have a lot of corrupt files. I am willing to replace them, but I need more information to interpret the results of the sfc output.
So I was spending way too much time on facebook and way too much time gaming when I needed to study for a chem test today so I thought it would be a good idea to somehow enable parental controls to only give me 30 mins a day on facebook and an reasonable amount of time on the computer game. I was going to get my roomate to type the password. After I went to parental controls I quickly realized that I could not micro manage the parental controls the way I wanted to because vista sucks.
So I downloaded "USER TIME CONTROL CENTER v 4.9.2.7" from "http://www.1securitycenter.com/index.html" and installed it. Then I realized I did not like the program because when I ran it it did not allow me to use any kind of administrative commands. It took me awile to figure out how to disable it but when I did I was able to uninstall it. The computer rebooted and then I quickly deleted it from out of my recycling bin only to find out that I still can not run administrative commands.
So now I:
1. Do not have the program
2. Can not reinstall the program
3. Can not restore program
4. Can not use any kind of 'run as administrator' (No error message, it tells me to type password but it wont let me imput)
Think that the problem is related to:
1. Csrss.exe
2. Csrstub.exe
And I dont know how to: Access User:administrator
I somehow have managed to delete my default vista screensaver , u know the one that says windows vista and does that aero animation, i was wondering if someone could tell me how to install it back from the dvd or maybe download it from somewhere, coz i have searched in my windows folder and it is not there, and i really like that screensaver the basic one.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI need to reformat the hard-drive of my laptop (annual clean) but I cannot find my Vista Basic DVD, I cannot even remember getting any DVDs with the laptop when I bought it brand new from Currys (major UK electronics shop) before christmas.
Is there any other way I can reinstall Vista Basic (I don't want to restore Vista to a previous date) without the DVD? I've been into Start/Computer/Properties to get my Windows Activation Product ID, just in case anything thinks I'm trying to install an un-purchased copy. Also, what would I need to do for drivers of things like the graphics, sound, wireless network card etc?
Is there a process by which I can reinstall Vista Ultimate so that it repairs an existing install? Perhaps foolishly, I installed SP1 RC. Initially it ran well. A week (or two?) my hard disk is trashing constantly (like background defrag) and everything's slow as molasses. That includes web screen flips, file reads, email, etc. I suspect it's
SP1 RC but am not certain, as I've installed other software since, that being HP Solution Center for my wireless AIO printer. I uninstalled SP1 RC but nothing improved. If I can refresh or repair the existing Vista Ultimate, I'd like to try. I've been unable to determine if there are other problems. My alternative is a full rebuild and reinstall, which I'd really rather not do.
I turn it on and get a message saying to insert the DVD to fix a system registry error. ( I don't remember what message it was sorry) So I do and windows boots. I backed up my files that night. Next day windows is acting weird and sluggish, if I try to open my computer or documents PC freezes, it takes a long time to boot and 8 times out of ten will hang on the green loading bar or take an hour to load, my sound card deleted itself as did my cdrom drive. Safe mode either takes forever to boot or will freeze when loading drivers, I tried to re store/reinstall and boot from the vista DVD at startup but i get the message "The file is possibly corrupt. The file header check sum does not match the computed check sum" or "couldn't find boot manager". This happens for the x64 vista disk, x32 disk and my XP pro disk. I tried to reformat in safe mode command prompt and it said Formatting the partition was prohibited. I thought it was my ram at first so bought new ram but still the same problem. I'm also not sure what caused this I do regular virus checks with up to date software, maybe its a bad windows update?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm running Vista Home Premium and I've had a little issue with the quick launch buttons on my HP and I needed to reinstall the OS but failed miserably. I had to send in the laptop and they told me all they did is update the BIOS and it worked fine. Well ever since I had it back, I've noticed that there is user called "test" but I can't find it anywhere. I've created an admin user with my name, but that user will come on in the DOS command, I can see it everywhere but not my username. example, here is a pic It has bugged me a lot and I didn't do much about it, but now I really need to find a solution to change this "test" username to mine.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI had to create a windows recovery disk
I used it to system restore her system to a date before she had set her password
and on the menu it said install vista
and on my old laptop that my dad has it's a 2gb compaq presario
they're not made anymore
it has low memory it's very slow and really
hardly useable without getting very stressed
so if I used the recovery disk I created
and click install vista
will it be like a new laptop?
there's nothing needed on the laptop
so nothing is being lost by resetting the laptop
it's got vista home premium x86
Some trouble with IE & FireFox yesterday & I've
come to the conclusion it's probably best if I reinstall windows.
I don't care about losing everything & starting from scratch as
everything important I have on a seperate hard drive anyway.
The only problem is, I was never given a Windows Vista disk with this
laptop & don't think I have ever had one.
How would I go about either doing a repair installation or just doing a
complete Windows reinstallation without a start-up disk?
I attempted to reinstall Vista Home Premium 32bit to my laptop. It fails to do so. I have attempted startup repair with no success.
View 9 Replies View RelatedMy vista 32 install slowed down so much that I did a full install from scratch. Since the professionals say dead registry entries don't hurt ( see posts at Registry Cleaner ), what is it that might cause vista to get slower and slower?
I've heard it often said that windows seems to just slow down over time, and it seems to be true in my experience as well.
I'd like to know how to get my system running great without needing to reinstall..
Yes, I know this is a vista 64 forum, in fact I'm now using vista 64, not 32. But the general question should still apply: why do windows os'es (32 or 64) seem to bog down over time?
