Anyone know of any problems between Firefox and Vista. Had a laptop for a week with Firefox and had to reformat the laptop back to factory settings. Acer helpdesk said it could have been Firefox. I would have drops in wireless connection and programms freezing which could only be cleared by hard reset.
Also had zone alarm, AVG 8 and Spy bot running on it. Since re format only used McAfee free trial and Internet Explorer and it has been working fine.
Today I downloaded the new free AVG. I have this and Spyware blaster and Super antispyware installed. I ran a scan with te AVG and it found Trojan's, adware, etc, or so it seemed. When the summary came up at the end a result of 0 (as in nothing found) came up in each categry, with about 214 in the warnings category, potential threats. Did the AVG somehow mistake the protection files for the.
The software on both mine and my dad's laptops is pretty identical, and the same result showed up on both. I wasn't sure what to do at the end. I haven't changed any settings and as I understand it all the threats were removed. At any rate I ran the scan again and nothing was found.
My new Dell XPS 1330 with Windows Vista Ultimate was purchased with TrendMicro antivirus installed. All worked reasonably well until automatic updates installed for TrendMicro and I installed Windows Service Pack 1. Windows Mail stopped working shortly after with error message 0x800CCC15 after send /receive is pressed. Also, after trying again, sometimes error message 0x800CCC19 comes up. This is not a problem with my POP server as I can send and receive on my other computer running XP.
The Vista computer was restored to prior to the updates but the problem persisted. Dell support finally disabled TrendMicro and called this a fix, and suggested that I buy Norton antivirus. Maybe I should, but I've already bought a 3 year subscription to TrendMicro as recommended by Dell in their sales website, so I'm reluctant to do that. Also, it worked before so I think it may be a Windows problem.
MS Update is offering "Silverlight" as a download option - Has anyone downloaded and what opinions /comment does anyone have? Is there any real advantage by downloading, I generally understand it's function, enlightment is wisdom!
I hope Im in the right forum...anyway....I can no longer watch Netflix instant movies and Netflix rep told me I need to download Silverlight b/c that is what they are using now. Fine...BUT...she also said "Make sure you want to download this because once you do there is no turning back." Okay, that statement F-R-E-A-K-E-D me out. What if I experience problems with it, Im just screwed? Anyone have any insight as to what that warning could have meant? Since I have Vista I wanted Vista-users opinions, i didnt want to just go by what SHE said. Thanks..
I have 2 identical HP Pavilion dv4 laptops running Vista Home Premium x64. After installing Silverlight plugin on a clean machine, the USB mouse stopped working with all of my mice. Uninstall of Silverlight is not helping. It seems like Silverlight somehow corrupts the drivers (or maybe some other problem) that prevent the USB mouse from working. The touch mouse is still OK. I've been struggling with this for a while and spent ton of time without any progress. I do need to use Silverlight in my work and I have to have an external mouse.
