recently for some reason the open applications i'm running on task bar moved from the left over to the right side
how did that happen?
yes i can still use it but cant see at a glance whats all open. how do i change it back ...
i have a laptop on vista home basic, the other day my task bar moved to the right of the screen, i have un locked it and tried to drag it back but it wont budge, it stretches left to right but wont go past middle of the screen, i have checked the reg to see the size and tried to make it go back to 0 from (1) this doesnt work. i use selective start up and have reg mech and pctools spy doc i checked and no virus found. the machine is a highgrade 32 bit 1.60 ghz and a gig of ram its a few months old.

My problem is this: when I open Task Scheduler, I get 53 pop-up error messages that various scheduled tasks no longer exist, and to get them back click on refresh. When I click on refresh, I get the same pop-up that it no longer exists. I identified all the folders that have the pop-up error messages, checked in
c:WindowsSystem32TasksMicrosoftWindows and then opened one of the folders that's generating the error message and verified that the file named in the task that is failing is indeed there. I went back into Task Scheduler and attempted to import the task, and then it tells me, "An error has occurred for task. Error Message. A task or folder with this name already exists." Someone's advice was then to just delete the
task. Why would I do that? These are default Windows tasks and I'm having problems with Windows Calendar's alerts not working, and I believe it's coming from the fact that Window's default tasks "no longer exist", even though they do! Can anyone stear me in the right direction? I've been all over the Internet for answers.
I am using IE7, with only one browser open, only one tab also. When I open task manager I see internet explorer listed twice. Usually one listing will be 50,000k and the other 2,000k. why would this be? it does not happen with firefox or any other program. It always seems like there is more going on in the background than there should be, like my modem is working all the time.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI don't know how to reproduce this particular problem, because it only happens once every couple of week, but once in while, Internet Explorer exhibits some curious behavior. It just starts "replicating". By this I mean IE 7 windows just start opening up as though I clicked the icon in Quick Launch, and it continues to do this untill I open Task Manager and endtask IEXPLORE.EXE. These are not "normal" popups, because the IE windows open to my homepage.

View 0 Replies View RelatedI have used programs from MSDOS to Vista and by far Vista is the worst program of the lot. Maybe I am doing something wrong. Without exception, everytime I attempt to open a window, it takes for ever for the progress bar at the bottom to fillup and more often than not, I have to give up and start over. It is like it is stuck in a perpetual loop and just can't finish the requested task. I am paying for a cable modem and getting dial up results with Vista. This is fleecing of America. I recently had to purchase a new laptop and of course it had Vista. If the service pack does ever come and does not fix the issues with this crappy program, I would be in favor of filing a class action suit for Microsoft to either fix the issues or replace the program with XP which was great.

The scheduler history states it started, action completed with an error code 16 (don't know what this means) and task successfully completed? But I do not think it is actually executing the bat file.

It goes through the process of discoveringfiles and calculates the number of items / size. It then just sitsthere. When I click on the 'More Information' button, it does showthe 'Items remaining' decreasing, but the speed is always 0 bytes /sec and it doesn't actually do anything, there are still files in the 'Itemsremaining' count and the files I wanted moved, are still in their original location.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to install under Vista Ultimate x64 one of those on-the-fly backup programs (Western Digital Backup Anwhere, or R4Yware Clonedir2), but they just won't run... I suspect this has sth to do with the .NET; I googled and saw a mention somewhere that under x64 systems, they require .NET 3.5. So I downloaded and installed. Net 3.5 - to no avail... In the Vista components, .NET 3.0 is still listed (while in the Program List in Control Panel, only the new 3.5 version is present). I don't think my installation actually changed anything in the system.

Clean reinstall of Vista only two days ago, the program functioned correctly on the previous installation of Windows Vista. A friend connected via TeamViewer, and the program launched and functioned with no problems, its only when I attempt todo so.
I installed Vista in partition H: so I could dual-boot to XP Pro on C:. Now I'm ready to dump XP and I'd like to move Vista to C:. how to do this without losing anything?

I have unlocked the taskbar, and I can resize the quick launch toolbar. The taskbar cannot move or resize. However, the taskbar CAN move and resize in the Safe Mode. I wonder if I changed some registry entry or policy that I don't aware.

- Using the small square at the top right.
- Dragging the corners of the window to fill the screen.
In both cases, if I close and then re-open, the window has its default size.
