Dec 9, 2007I installed CoD 4 on steam on my Vista Ultimate 64 bit version and when I click to start the game, it says ""Preparing to launch Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare..." and it stays there FOREVER until I click "cancel."

May 17, 2009I just installed cod waw on my vista home premium 32bit i went into solo/cooporritive solo works fine i went into cooperretive which is like nazi zombies it was looking for some matches it found some but only like 2 but it says there were 1/4 people in it i tried to join it says its full i tried other things like a different match and i even restarted it doesent work in multiplayer when i try to start it up it starts with a blank screen that never goes away so i have to end it and it stops responding i tried it again then it says would you like to start it in safe mode cause you expeirinced dificulties the last time i even restarted my computer didnt work i looked at the syestem requirerments i had more than recomended I went back to the shop and sked why it doesent work she sys it only works if it has the exact as written i thought thats not possible activision cant do that System Specs: Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit 3GB-RAM 500GB-Hard Drive

Oct 16, 2009To start I bought my desktop machine very recently. Specs: Q8200 Quad Core, 8GB DDR3 Ram, 1 TB HD, ATI Radeon HD 4650 and I am booting a dual monitor system (2x 24 inch LG monitors).
So, these games when played will work perfectly for about 5 minutes and then there are beginnings of sound stutter and then video and sound stutter eventually rendering the game useless to play. After I quit the game, my entire desktop is slow and lagging (eg. selection tool on desktop lags as well as mouse movements). This lag dissappears after about 10 minutes (or doing a full restart). I have looked at many different forums about this and I have done the following (for others that may be having the same problems)
1. Updated directX (there is a forum post about this already)
2. Ran in compatability mode
3. Re-imaged drive
4. installed vista codecs
5. Update to SP1 (came installed for me)
6. Updated BIOS
7. Re-installed/updated video driver
8. Turned down graphics on games
9. Disabled HD Audio (re-enabled because it did not help my problem)
10. Installed and used ATI Catalyst Suite
Close Combat 5 Multiplayer: Erased All Buttons
Jan 16, 2008im having a problem with my fave game. Its an old one, Close Combat 5 from 2000. I can get the game to work in single player, no problem, but VISTA has for some reasons erased all the buttons in the multiplayer section so I can host or join via UDP, TCP.Why does Vista remove these buttons? Is there a security option to change so they are brought back? I dont use the firewall, but I see it has some options anyway, and the game has access like other games i do (that do work)Is there a way to allow connection via IP in vista, a way to fix my problem?

Aug 30, 2008I need to run some very special old game programs in a compatible gwbasic modern Vista home premium labtop. It would be ashame for these funny and entertaining programs to be lost for ever. The book is called computer monsters by Stephen Manes and Paul Somerson. By scholastic inc I typed one of the books program on a cd a person instaled the old GWbasic and I was sad to see it wouldn't run. It was frooze completely. I beleave these book game authors are out of buisness. Where do I go from here?

Aug 2, 2007I can sucessfully load up the game and all however whenever i try to join a multiplayer game(says "Joining Server... then crashes" or finish loading a single player game(after the textures are loaded or the shaders it just crashes) OR whenever i click audio in settings my game(right after i click audio it just goes boom) just crashes back to desktop with the BF2142.exe error. I've read about many different crashes with other people but this seems different, people have had crashes during map changes, splash screen, and a few secs after joining the server, havent seen anyone with my problem of crashing when i see the "joining server.." box.
I've tried
1)reinstalling/repatching
2)run the exe as admin.
3)disable UAC and reinstall/repatch after restart
Im pretty sure my computer can handle the game, my old one did fine and this one owns it. Im kind of lost, I've tried many things and this freaking game just doesnt want to work.
