I have a Toshiba Satellite A100 Laptop. Yesterday suddenly my speakers stopped working. Since then I have tried everything to get the sound back but no success.
Have also reinstalled the audio drivers.
The other day my speakers (Logitech X-540) stopped working all together. They pop when I shut down and reboot, but in the speaker properties they are listed as unplugged. The Realtek HD control panel gives me an error saying that I'm using Vista drivers and to download the proper ones. I've downloaded the current drivers from Realtek (r2.02) and from Gigabyte and neither work. Is my next step getting a new soundcard for further troubleshooting or is there something I'm overlooking? And yes, I have checked to see that the speakers are actually connected to the PC
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have ran the Microsoft conectivity test many times on my new Netgear DG834G V4(firmware v5.01.09) and it fails on the TCP high performance test(see screenshot attached) I like my Vista tweaks and always had it set to highlyrestricted with my old Tiscali standard Siemens SE587 receiving speeds of over 7Mb on a 8Mb connection almost everyday.
Some of my DSLzone forum buddies have said that theirs passes the test but why does mine fail. I have asked Netgear support and they cannot tell me whether this router supports this feature or not....what a joke!

I've looked around on here some and most of what I find is someone eventually getting it to work properly after the instructions on this page:

But those are also mostly from 2007, I didn't see anything helpful in 09 on this... Anyway though I installed PG2's RC1 and did what they said where you disable Integrity checks, restarted, and then tried to run it. But even after uninstalling and repeating this process and trying the XP64 version to no avail, I still get a message when I try to run RC1. It says:

I just bought my new Creative T7900 speakers which is 7.1. I have DP35DP Media series board with a built-in 7.1 sound card that has a driver from SigmaTel (default). The problem is I can't use my 7.1 speakers. The only speakers working are the two front speakers and the subwoofer when I play Windows Media Player 11 and Windows Media Classic Player, but when I ran a test on the config settings of SigmaTel, this time 5.1 speakers worked (excluding the side pair speakers). That I discovered, the audio cable that was included in the T7900 package is for 5.1 speakers only. One end of the cable has 3 pins and the other end has 4 pins which is standard for 7.1 speakers (Black for rear speakers; Lime-green for front speakers; Grey for side speakers; Orange for center speaker/subwoofer). But when I checked the quick installation manual, the cable included with the package is correct (3-pins : 4-pins). I only want simple thing to happen. I want my T7900 work on my PC that has built-in 7.1 sound card.

View 7 Replies View Relatedi have a common problem of my 5.1 logitech speakers not working on vista, like most ppl, wen i test them on realtek hd, they all seem to work fine, but wen i go to play music , movies ect.. they seem not to work at all, i can onli get 2.1 spekers working not the the full 5.1, ive done everything, filling in speaker fill ect..and have also been on a million forums to find a soultion.. but there is too much jargon that i dont undertsand.

Also, same thing with Internet Explorer...I'm getting real sick of Vista's shoddiness..
I have garbled start-up music (the tones played when Vista logo shows on startup) about 3/4 of the time I start-up. A friend says it can mean corrupt start-up but I ran the start-up repair and it shows nothing. Is it possible to repair the file, or is this something that needs further troubleshooting?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a vista ultimate quad core 32 bit machine. It works great. I had to fax a doc yesterday and I couldn't do it. I loaded the program, went to the page, typed in phone number and other info. I hear the fax program dial ... on my speakers, not the modem speaker - the stereo speakers. I do not hear the dial tone - it just dials the number and then it rings 18 or 20 times and gives up. Two minutes later, it redials. I took DSL filter and telephone wire and connected to my backup celeron 1.7 machine and BVP (I think it is) software, I can print-fax a document. So, I know the wire and the dsl filter is ok. I got the fax off my desk but it sure is inconvenient. The kicker is that I did fax from the program 6-12 months ago. It was prior to upgrading vista to service pack 1.

Is it not obvious by now that Vista has a problem, maybe a compatability problem, with everything from Internet Explorer and Microsoft Word to third party programs which cause programs, as I mentioned, even programs made by Microsoft, to "stop working"? Is there no an overall "stopped working" patch or something that Microsoft has released by now?...............
All of a sudden some of my programs stopped working, for example catalyst control center is supposed to start as soon as vista starts, but now it gives me an error like:
"CCC.exe has stopped working"
Same with some others...
Yes i ran AVG, i ran malware, and superantispyware, none of them finds anything.
I cant even load daemon tools now, it gives me some error: "Engine loading was failed", cant uninstall it, it gives me another error, and some of the programs like netlimiter if i start them from my objectdock dock they automaticly stop working, only when i start them from the normal .exe they dont crash.
Greetings, I just formatted my new computer and when i try to play a dvd with WMP it loads the dvd and goes to a black screen and thinks for a moment, then a windows box pops up and says that WMP has stoped working,"we will look for a solution to this problem"

I believe that suggests that i reinstall my nvidia drivers, which i did, but it didnt work.
I have no codec packs installed either
Before the format everything worked perfect but i was having pop up problems and i think i had a virus of some sort.

i bought a new rig a few months back and got me some vista to let my memory be of full use. i played cod4 and age of conan just fine. but then my friend wanted me to come back and play some cs 1.6. i said ok ill own you a few times , i downloaded steam (i had an account that had cs on it) and then dowloaded cs from steam. now i was ready for some action , i enter the game and then when i got on a server and was on it for a few seconds it just well exitied (dont know if thats a word ). no error message no nothing it just fell down .. is this meh vista? because i played it fine on xp with my last computer. View 5 Replies View RelatedI have nVidia as per title, but when I want to play HD 1080p videos through VLC player I come into problems. It starts of 1-2 second then stops, while you can hear the sound, then plays the video for another 1-2 second and stops again, while you can hear the sound.When attempts to play the video, it jumps to where video should be together with the soudn you can see pixels and very slow movements and it stops again. Almost it seems that it is buffering the video while attempting to play it in the same time. I know that max resolution is 2560x1600 which is more then enough to 1080p HD videos. I have 17" monitor, Q6600, 4GB ram. how can I play 1080p HD file without having video output start stop. Went an downloaded trial version of CoreAVC and was able to play it through Windows media player
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have encountered a new problem. My graphics card is a Nvidia GeForce GTX 260 1792 MB. I keep getting a problem with the screen when I play "trackmania" it's like some of the text and texture is blurry. Weird thing is I don't have any problems with other games like Fallout 3 or Call of duty 4-5 and so on. Those games I play with highest settings and no fuzz with the texture there. I have been mixing around with the nvidia control panelt lately and tried a lot of stuff but nothing worked. My current setting is "let the program decide 3D settings"I run vista 64 bit and intel i7 950 with 6GB ram.
My laptop froze during a shutdown process and I was forced to turn it off by holding the power button down. Since then my USB hub seems to have stopped working; anything plugged into it doesn't even turn up on the computer even though all the lights on them are on (indicating they are receiving power at the very least). How can I fix this?

After a few weeks of using Vista and WMP 11, I learned through these forums that there is a 64-bit version of WMP 11, so I tried it by running the "wmplayer.exe" file in the Program Files directory (not Program Files x86). After a few seconds, I got the dreaded "Windows Media Player has stopped working" error message, along with a prompt to close the program - no additional useful information was provided. After uninstalling any and all codecs, using the SFC utility, using a registry cleaner, and any other suggestion I could find, WMP x64 still would not work for me.
So, I performed a clean install of VISTA HPx64. And, lo and behold, the first time I double-clicked wmplayer.exe in the Program Files directory, it worked! I tried it a few more times and it was still working, so I quickly downloaded the 64-bit Vista Codec package, and used the utilities in the package for switching the default player and registry entries to 64-bit. When I tried to run WMP, I once again got the "Windows Media Player has stopped working" message. I uninstalled the Vista Codecs package, restarted the computer, and still it would not work. I reran the SFC utility, and no corrupt files were found. Curiously, the first time I ran the 32-bit WMP, I was shown a dialog box for choosing options and doing initial set-up; when I ran the 64-bit WMP for the first time, I was given no such set-up opportunity.......
I have A couple of games installed on my Laptop. that have Stopped working. One has always stopped working as soon as I launch it. it is called: F.E.A.R Combat But the Other game I like and has worked fine up utill today is called: Project Torque. i have used Gimp for a long time. I got a new hp vista home premium 64.
i installed it in the new comp. it worked fine for 2 weeks. Then I got the message like :" Gimp has stopped working. Windows will let you know if a solution is found." I uninstalled and installed 3 more times. Same message. I saw on forums on Microsoft to go to reg. and delete gimp stuff. i deleted only what said gimp but only after the 2 uninstall, as this scared me.
