View 4 RepliesWhen selecting a subkey of the Java Plug-in key in the registry, I'm having an 'Access Denied' error. Even when I'm running regedit.exe with administrator rights. (OS = Visa Home Premium 32bits) When adding permissions to a subkey, I'm getting the same 'Access Denied' error when I want to save those permissions.
It results in a very anoying issue that none of my browsers (IE and FireFox) are recognising that the Java Plug-in is installed. I already tried to install other versions of the Java Plug-in, IE and Firefox (they are all installed successfully). Installing those apps with and/or without administrator rights. Nothing helps. I also searched to similar problems on this forum, but none of the solutions are fixing my problem.
I am having trouble with getting permission to a registry key/editing it. I am logged in as Admin and ran the registry editor as admin too. But still could not acces it. I am having problems with steam as it is not responding to protocols steam: I need help with accesing the key and getting permisions to it. Here is the video i have uploaded for you so you can understand what i mean:
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am experiencing a number of Reliability and Performance Logs, and Task Scheduling issues and difficulties.
In trying to troubleshoot the problems, I have started with the Task Manager, as it is clearly not performing at all.
First, before starting this process, I created a new Restore Point.
Then, at Start>Help and Support>Select, ?Troubleshooting>in Search Help box type, Troubleshoot Task Manager>Select, How do I enable Task Manager if it has been disabled. ....I end up with this set of troubleshooting instructions;
Using Administrator Rights, I am able to navigate down to Step 3 of the instructions,[see string in bottom panel] here;
Before going further, per the instructions, I saved a copy of the Registry Key to a hard-drive.
With that done, I tried to double click on System, but nothing happens! Disable TaskMgr does not come up to allow me to continue with the troubleshooting process.
"Access to registry key 'HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT.pgk' is denied" Th program runs well on 32 bit vista and XP but I have 64bit and it doesn't work.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI try to access folders under my name (set up as administrator), most of the time I get access denied. It is driving me nuts. I want to change the start menu and get rid of a bunch of garbage but I can't enter the folder to do so. When I use the start menu program, it only has a few basic folders. This happens frequently, even when trying to view pictures or video in the folder. What do I need to change to remove this very annoying problem?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI think I might have a good one for you.. I am working on an Acer 5610z Notebook for a friend of mine. He was setting the parental controls and managed to control his account which had admin access. the user listing has the account listing as an admin but he only has standard user access. His was the "only" admin account.. While he was doing this he managed to deny access to the boot drive. The drive reads as "Access Denied". The machine boots up and a person can play games etc.. but network access is restricted.

The sercurity settings for permissons were changed by another person using my computer. View 9 Replies View RelatedHow can I gain FullControl of my machine? I have turned off UAC. There is only 1 account. That's me, and I'm the Administrator. I right-click on Documents and Settings in Explorer (or whatever it's called now) and I get "Access Denied?". I am NOT interested in Microsoft's idea of security. I want absolute control of every file on my machine. If I can't have control, the machine is useless to me.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have an HP Vista Home Premium laptop (wireless) that I networked through a Linksys router with an eMachine XP desktop and a Gateway XP desktop (via ethernet cables). Both XP desktops commincate perfectly with each other. I can access the Internet and shared folders/files on all computers. The eMachine XP desktop has an HP laser 4L printer that is networked. I can view the printer on the eMachine XP computer but get "access denied" error when I try to add it to the Vista laptop. Per the "sure fire fix," I created a new local port and installed the HP printer drivers on the Vista laptop but the error remains.

In Windows Vista Home Premium there appeared new restrictions on some (not all) folders, like Application Data, Desktop, Documents etc. They all seem to have in the lower left corner a little square with a blue arrow pointing toward 2 o???clock. When I try to open these folders, I get: ???Access denied.???
When I check the security of the folders (right clicking the folder and clicking security), I notice that the accessible folders have Gerhard (DesktopGerhard) listed, whereas the non- accessible ones have Every-one. But when I try to add in the non-accessible folder Gerhard (DesktopGerhard), it says:???The following object, Gerhard (DesktopGerhard), is not from a domain listed in the Select Location dialog box and therefore not valid. I???m the only user and have administrative privileges. These restrictions did not exist before.
When I was running XP, I put some personal files in a special encrypted folder, but I forgot to decrypt it when I backed it up to install Vista. Now, everytime I try to open one of the still encrypted files, I get the message saying "Access Denied".

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a new VISTA ULTIMATE installation, with very little on it as yet. I am the single user 'GECKO'. I have installed the software for my HP AIO, and it wants to store its scanned images in c:documents and settings under GECKO, which is okay. I believe the images actually are in folder c:documents and settingsGECKOMy Scans. However, I can't get a look at them in Windows Explorer because I get an error when I click on c:documents and settings 'not accessible - Access is denied. Since I am the only user, and the security properties all seem to allow me free access to that folder, why is this happening? And, more important - how can I fix things?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a File Sharing Problem. Here is the situation. Both Computers DELL and HP Desktops Running Vista Home Premium. Connected to the Network. Wited Connected. Details on both computers... Work Group = OFFICE
Network Discovery = ON
File Sharing = ON
Public Folder Sharing = ON
Password Protected Sharing = OFF
Media Sharing = ON
The HP Computer can see all Files and Folders on the DELL. Example Documents, Pictures, Music etc. I can open all these folders, add, delete etc. No Problems....
I have a HTPC running vista ultimate 32bit, 250gb OS drive and 1tb mirror storage drive (need some fault tolerance since my pics and music will be stored here.) I would like to have this machine also act as a mini server and be able to share out the folders housing my music and my pictures. ( makes it easier for me to dump off my recently taken pics from vacations that i may have dumped onto my laptop, and now that i am back home would like to dump back to the vista machine.) This machine is also part of a domain (a whole other nightmare to get vista to join my domain) My server is running windows 2003 standard.
I set folder permissions and and i just can't seem to get passed the access denied. when trying to open up one of the vista shared folders. from the domain controller i mapped the folders that i need and i can open them but can not make any changes or create new directories. what am i doing wrong? I know i am no expert when it comes to networking but xp has never given me this much of a headache. *the reason it is on a domain and not a workgroup - is to broaden my skill and familiarity with working with servers, Domain controllers and Active Directory*
I have spent 2 weeks on this now. I recently installed Vista Ultimate on my main pc (PC1), and using the default sharing wizard, shared a series of folders to the 'Everyone' group, as I allow my private home network to access my shares anonymously. Everything was working fine for the first few days, PC2 and PC3 where able to successfully access the shares, until one day it just stopped working and when PC2/PC3 attempted to access the shared folders via ‘Start > Network’ or UNC Path \VISTA , it would say “Access is Denied”. Having said that, to make it more complex, the shares are accessible if you type the folder share name, ie \VISTAMovies.......
