Is it possible to rollback media player 12 to 11? On Windows 7, MP 12 does not recognize my portable CDrom player and does not show a Rip tab at all. MP 11 did all that without a problem.
View 4 Repliesproblem with wmp 11 is that for some reason it takes a good 20+ seconds to play a song. Video streaming is fine, it's just with mp3 format songs. Not only is there a time lag for mp3 song files but it will always start skipping for the last 10 seconds of the file. It never fails, I must wait half a minute whenever I click a song and then it WILL skip during the end. I can't reinstall it for some reason either. It doesn't show up in the add or remove programs list. I can't express my annoyence enough, having such a large library of music.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI brought a Dell Vostro 1510 with Optiarc DVD+-RW AD-7640A ATA Device slot load on it last year and everything was working fine until 2 days ago when I was trying to burn a Data DVD and suddenly the program stopped responding. I thereafter closed the program using task manager. But to my dismay, the hitherto DVD RW+ does not recognise DVDs anymore and it only recognises CDs. Any time a slot in a DVD Disk, it eject it and ask me to insert a Disk into the drive, this it dosent do with a CD.
I have tried to download the driver so as to reinstall it but its been difficult. I am afraid of uninstalling the driveras the driver DVD that came with the laptop is no longer recognised by the DVD RW device. pls advise me on what to do I hope it is not a Hardware problem..., pls, if it is, is it possible to change this slot load DVD RW device. Maybe I should also say I live in a Third world country where i might not be able to get repair due to lack of service centres, is their anything i can do? I am a student with poor resources
I have just installed vista onto a laptop using the dvd drive, but when it was all installed it hasn't seemed to install the dvd drive as it doesn't appear on my computer or device manager, just wondered if anyone knows a solution, I have tried to do the regedit thing but the files that need deleting aren't even there, want to put xp back on as the network adapter isn't working either as i think that it isn't compatible with Vista but can't seem to do it as when i try rebooting with the cd in the laptop isn't finding it, even when i got to setup to try and change boot default there is no cddvd drive option there

I've googled and found a lot of people with the same problem. I don't have any registry entries for upper/lower filters to delete.

Some of my avi files show a picture and some others show a black icon. I did not have this problem before. Before all my avi files show a picture. I have K-Lite Mega Codec Pack (new version). View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a brand new HP Pavilion Media Center m8100n with DVD super multi drive/CD writer. I can play my wedding dvd, but when I try to play commercially purchased DVD's (either with Windows Media Player or Windows Media Center) I get some message and am unable to watch.
Windows Media Player states: cannot play this DVD because there is a problem with digital copy protection between your DVD drive, decoder, and video card. Try installing an updated driver for your video card. Windows Media Center states: DVD may be in use by another application. If all other applications are closed, the video resolution may need to be loweredor the display connection type may not support playback of the DVD. I contacted HP and a nice person tryied to help via internet connection. They had me uninstal/reinstal Roxio and also send me to a site to get an updated driver.

I have tried to find the Media Player software on the Microsoft site thinking I could reinstall it but all I can find is updates to it. I don't even know what version of Media Players I have. I am using Vista, with all current patches.
Does anyone know of any good DVD player software that works with Vista 64bit, I have tried Power DVd 6 but that keeps crashing even with the patch from Power DVd's web site. I have tired Windows Meida Player but that keeps crashing to, I have even tried another disk drive but the same thing happens.

After I put the CD in my computer shows me that the software of my mp3 player cannot be installed. I tried my host's computer which is windows XP and it worked fine. running Vista Ultimate
We have a security camera that takes a short video when motion activated. The file is then emailed to the tech guys. I cannot view the video. It opens Windows Media player and then just sits there with a blank screen. I can use XP and the file plays just fine, just not on my Ultimate computer.
First of all I'm on vista home basic, second of all wmp was already installed on my pc when I received it. Lastly, it's always had this problem When I click on a mp3/avi/any wmp associated file it will launch the file audio, I can hear it BUT wmp doesn't open, I have to manually launch wmp before I can stop the file or do anything else.
I googled the problem many times and tried solutions but never got anywhere. I reset the assiociated files, I've checked for updates , I've run out of ideas. I was even going to unistall and reinstall it. Yet I can't seem to get a vista version from the microsoft webpage ?! So I don't want to uninstall it and loose it, or even try using wmp 10
instead, I'm worried it will mess up my machines default settings and/or media center!
Each time I put an audio CD into the cd drive Window Media Player comes alive and starts to play it. Many times I just want to rip the CD onto my MP3 player with software that comes with the MP3 player. I'll even have the ripping software loaded and ready to view the first Cd into the drive but Media Player still jumps ion over everything and starts playing the Cd. Is there some way I can make Media player just stay still until I want it and launch it myself?

All of the issues with IE7 crashing, Media Player Crashing, I am going to attribute to the ASUS P5N32 E SLI motherboard I was using. It just blue screened and died 2 days ago after forcing me to re-activate a 3rd time with the same board.
I have a Builders OEM of Ultimate 32 bit. My biggest problem is will my copy of Vista still be valid for a change out? I tried ASUS for the first time in 12 years instead of Intel. That would seem to have settled my curiosity for good. The board didn't even last 6 months on stock settings and normal to low use............
When I attempt to open media player or open a media file WMP11 fails to start, no error messages or anything in the event log. So far the only option appears to be available is to reinstall Vista, this is ridiculous as a fix I would rather install a third party media player.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI lost my flash player and can't re-install it. I've deleted the flash files and re-installed several times and deleted my macromed folder and re-installed. I think the issue is in the UAC. When I try to change the UAC account type to administrator I can click on the administrator dot but the change account type box fades and I can not select it. In advanced user profile properties there is a user name ending in a IUSR_NMPR and then the user name that I use. I can not delete either.
View 5 Replies View Relatedi can't get media player to play dvd's it tells me to ''lower my resolution'' which is set at 1680 x 1050. i do this and nothing i take the resolution all the way to 800x600 and nothing gives me the same message so i surmized that their was another problem. I recently just upgraded my motherboard and ram and ended up having to rebuy vista as my computer was previously factory built.
