Odd Win Behavior For Run
Jul 8, 2005If I were to type in a path within the volume, it pulls up the window normally (not search) i.e. "C:Program Files" Anyone have any ideas? Maybe a setting a set without realizing it or something?

View 4 RepliesAll of a sudden both my CD-ROM and CD-RW drives are acting strangely. They are both acting the same, so it seems a Windows problem (XP Home). When i put in a CD of any type after a restart, it works fine. The next CD I put in shows up in Explorer labelled exactly like the first one, and if it has an autoplay function, it calls up the same menu as the first one. I've tried numerous CDs of several types and the same thing appens.
Example, a game CD starts the game like always. Eject the CD, put in a program install CD and the game menu comes up. Of course, if I try to play the game with the wrong CD, it says my files are corrupt or missing. Another example, one game will autoplay its start menu (if it's the first one after restart), but when I go through the game setup menu, it tells me to put the correct CD in the drive (and it is in there already).
I've tried several solutions to no avail including uninstall and reinstall the drives--System Restore won't let me restore because the last point was on a Windows Update
I have been using my Wacom tablet mouse for quite sometime & beginning to feel agitated. I can be typing & then suddenly the cursor will move to another are that I've typed. Which breaks up my sentence & I have to always proof read & undo what has been typed. I'd sure appreciate some feedback on this. Could my computer be hacked as I'm also using wifi {not my router like I normally do} & I've noticed that lately I have alot of users connected to my connection? I'm confused?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have received this message from PC-Cillin "detected unstable behavior in the network, hardware, operating system, or another app. and automatically reverted to it's last know configuration ". I have also received a low memory message. This is a brand new system I built with a good MSI board , i gig of Kingston mem. After the PC-Cillin message and reboot It is running stable. When it wasn't you could not do any thing especially online with numerous pages open up. Very strange behavior. I am running Sunbelts Counterspy which is a very good anti spyware program and running the XP Firewall. This seems to be a program draining the PC and not spyware because very little surfing was done. I will uninstall Counterspy to see if there is a memory leak.
View 1 Replies View RelatedRunning WinXP Home edition (SP3)for years now with no problems. Recently I noticed weird behavior with my keyboard and mouse, mainly:1. When trying to type numbers the shifted characters for those buttons appear instead, for example, I type 123 but !@# appears in it's place. I try pressing on the Shift key hoping to get the opposite response but the unintended symbols keep appearing.1b. Sometimes the shift key automatically activates so I'm typing in caps "all of the sudden." Then I have to hit the Shift key to get the keyboard to type "normally" again.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI want to know if there is a way to bring to front all windows in a taskbar group with one click (or a couple). For example I often use four notepad instances which are grouped in the taskbar. I have to bring them to front and focus by clicking each instance individually. I was hoping there was a "restore" option when I right click on the group in the taskbar but there isnt one. Is there a way to bring them all to the front without cascading or tiling? (i.e. bring them to the front without changing their previously assigned position on the desktop)
View 11 Replies View RelatedThe system seems to be very stable at this point in time. I run Norton Utilities and other maintenance sw as well as have a firewall/pest remover/anti-virus. Behavior - most things work fine on the USB ports, either the hub or direct connects. One digital camera will only work when direct connected(not thru the hub). I have a scanner that will only work on a 2003 Compaq Presario, but not on the whitebox on any port. Also, I have had two devices that won't work at all. I have noticed that the USB mass storage device icon doesn't seem to be present now when I attach a flash drive. This is recent behavior and doesn't predate every USB problem.
