Home Edition Not Loading Up - Load Needed DLLs For Kernel
Sep 2, 2007
This is a HP Pavilion a524x, Pentium 4, 512mb DDR SDRAM, Intel Extreme integrated graphics, and Running Windows XP Home edition. In between the computer loading up and the windows loading screen I am getting this error message. (Windows could not start because of an error in the software. Please report this problem as: load needed DLLs for kernel). When I try to run windows recovery counsel, run in any of the 3 safe modes, try to repair windows with the CD, try to reformat the hard drive, try to reinstall windows, or anything else I forgot to mention I get this error message (A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer. PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA STOP: 0x00000050 (0xc47c0000, 0x00000000, 0x8081b123, 0x00000000).I have looked both of these errors up on Microsoft's website but it does not give me any helpful information on the problem since I am unable to boot in any kind of mode including all of the safe modes as previous stated. I even tried hooking it up as a slave in another computer to try and reformat the HD but for some reason the error message seems to still pop up when I turn the other computer on.

This is my wifes laptop. It is a Dell Inspiron 6400 Duo core processor with Windows XP Pro installed on it about a month ago. She had a low battery indicator coming on and lost power, upon turning the machine back on got the dreaded error. I have tried booting in Safe mode with no luck..... have tried the boot ini rebuildwith no luck. I am going to reinstall Windows XP but thought I would ask if there is another solution. I am not to worried about the data on the drive because I have recently loaded XP on it, just wondering if there is an easier fix; or if a complete reformat will do the trick?

Just got a new PC, but don't like Win.7 much, everything works OK, but far too complicated for my simple needs, Still got my old legal Disk for Win. XP, and would like to copy it to a removeable Hard Drive, and use that instead. I don't want to partition my new Win.7 Disk, in case of conflicts.Does anyone know how much space a basic Win.XP Home Edition Disk takes up on a Hard Drive? I should then be able to upgrade it to Service Pack 3, to match my old one, and use that. I would then be able to go back onto my Win.7 PC, when and if I fancy it, without any problem.

Trying to do a 'repair' re-install of Windows XP Home Edition. I get through the loading of files and into the first installation window of Windows XP (after the 1st restart) and then get the system windows asking for [B]'The File ASMS on Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 1 CD is needed. Type the path where the file is located and then click OK/B]'. The text in the path text box is 'GLOBALROOTDEVICECDROM0I386'. The ASMS file (directory) is in the 1st level directory of I386 on the CD. This is also a valid OEM CD with the Hologram. The system has two CD drives; one is a CD drive and the other is a DVD/CD RW drive. It seems it is not communicating with the drive properly.

My sister's Windows XP Home Edition isn't loading. It turns on, appears with a screen that asks to pick between Safe Mode etc, Last Known Config. & Start normally... I've tried all three, safe mode starts to load but doesn't get to the log in screen. Last known and start normally sounds like it is beginning to load but it goes straight to a blank screen.
At one stage, after I turned off and on the computer, the screen alerts me that the CMOS settings are wrong, so I go into the settings and the time and date is wrong...I adjust these to the correct settings, restart and still, nothing loads.

I'm running XP, home edition. I've tried tweaks to improve start up time, used regedit, msconfig, turned off some automatic star-up programs, and used Registry Mechanic. When I tried to restart the computer, I'd be brought to the "Welcome" user selection screen. After selecting a user, the Desktop would load without icons or the taskbar (cursor appears), then after a few seconds, goes back to the Welcome screen. The few seconds I have in Windows, I tried bringing up the Task Manager, but it doesn't work. Also, when I click to load Disk Cleanup, nothing happens. Is there a fix for this?

I recently received a laptop that someone needs me to fix. The problem is that it seems at some point that some kind of update was interrupted during the process and the system will not load unless a windows xp professional edition disk is inserted to complete the update. I also cannot get it to start in safe mode. Unfortunately, I only have a home edition disk. Can I reformat XP pro with a home edition disk? If not, are there any other options?

Wondering which versions of XP can Access which other versions of XP.Specifically, can media center edition access media center edition , or do one or both OS's have to be XP PRO. My understanding is that XP Home cannot access or be accessed via Remote Access.

Recently I installed a new hard drive on my sisters PC. I wanted her to be able to go straight to the desktop after loading and not get the log in screen. so I went to start, run and typed (I think) userpasswords2 or something like that and unchecked the box about passwords being allowed or something. (I found a site that explained how to do it)anyway, now when I try to start up the PC, it gets all the way to the desktop and then super fast an error message comes up that says "Windows could not load." and I can't read the rest because a new screen appears over the top of it that says "Windows is loading" but it stays there for hours and never loads.

i have a question about the Home edition sp2, as i known, this version only can support HT with single core, but now i face a problem is that it can support dual core(Yohan) , so about this case, does the Home edition really support dual core in one package? or just it cannot support dual core with individual package?

Anyway, when upgrading from Windows XP Home Edition to Windows XP Pro earliler this week, everything seemed to work fine and all the program icons I had from Windows XP Home appeared on the XP Pro desktop. However, my Internet Broadband/Dial-Up connection dissapeared from 'Network Connections' and I therefore could not connect to the internet, even though the ISP ('BT Broadband' - I'm based in the UK in case you wonder who BT are) icon remained on my desktop and their software appeared in Programs.
When I contacted my ISP they claimed this is a problem with Windows XP upgrade to Pro and I should contact Microsoft Support. Is this true?
Anyway, I've had to resort to doing a clean install of Windows XP Home again now in order to get back on the internet with my Broadband internet and installing my ISP's USM Modem software all over again. It worked, but still want to upgrade to XP Pro.
Any ideas on how this 'problem' can be resovled. Don't want to have to do a clean install again and again. Also, is It this a common problem with upgrading to Windows XP Pro from Windows XP Home as my ISP claim ?

i'm in the process of upgrading my PC and i want to get Windows XP, now, i have two questions, i have been told that Windows XP needs 4.5GB of space to install, this seems like an insane amount, and as i seem to only have 2.0GB available, not achievable, however, if this is not true, and i can install it, is the Windows XP Home Edition Upgrade with SP2 what i need, as it says upgrade, does it mean upgrade from ME to XP? As that is what i have, or is it an upgrade from SP1 to SP2? Or do i need Windows XP Home Edition with SP2? Or should i get SP1? This is, however, if i have enough memory

I am using Windows XP Home Edition. Should I download & install the windows updates? There are so many of them, and I never know which ones I need. I never updated before because I only had a 7GB HD & it took up too much space. I now have a bigger computer & just want to know from the experts.

When I try to start in normal mode, it goes to the windows xp loading screen with the green loading bar and then goes blank, with my moniter blinking on and off. a checkdisk in safe mode returns no errors. the only things plugged into the motherboard are my cd drive and a video card.

I have xp sp2 installed with dual boot to Ubuntu on a toshiba a15-s127. I only have an SP1 disk. Can I use an XP Media center sp2 rollup to repair the MBR and then delete the ubuntu partition? I read the section on making an sp2 repair disk out of a sp1 disk but that seems like more work than reinstalling and updating the sp1 system.

My computer originally had windows xp home edition put on it, and i still have the certificate of authenticity that has my product key on it.I never got the windows cd with the computer so i downloaded a copy off the net and installed it, Its Windows XP Home Edition SP2.When i put in my product key now it says its invalid, is that because its SP2 instead of plain Home Edition? If so, is there a way to uninstall sp2 and sp1 so its just plain home edition so i can register it?and if not, is it even possible to get it registered with my old key if i contact microsoft? For free proffered, dont really feel like paying for the same thing twice.

I had windows SP2 on my Compaq Presario SR1123WM before it crashed and went back to California for repair.I still have the CD to install the program. But it will not install, either from download from microsoft, or from the CD.I get an error message " Extraction failed.(ccyclic redundancy check)" And a few minutes later, I get the screen, " SP2 did not install," or some such thing. Anyway, I have tried 14 times to install this thing, but Microsoft tells me that Compaq is responsible, because it was OEM installed.
