Drop Down Menu Created From Right Click On Desktop

Jul 2, 2010

Is it possible to add an icon for I.E. (Explorer) on the drop down menu you get when right clicking on the desktop? Almost every time I go to my computer I have to move my mouse to the corner where the I.E. icon is. I am not lazy, just wondered if there was a way to do this and make me even more spoiled rotten than I already am And my son already suggested to me that I just place an I.E. icon in every corner of the screen.

Right-Click Drop Down Menu?

Sep 27, 2006

When you right-click on a folder or file you get a dropdown menu that has a list of options. i.e. Open, Send To, Properties, etc.My questions are, Does this menu have a name? What is it? Where does it reside? How can it be modified to remove unwanted items? (Some programs put an item in this menu when they are installed)

Removing Items From Desktop Right-Click Menu

Dec 19, 2004

Since I have installed a few new drivers/Software I have been having trouble with my desktop right click menu, the apps I've installed have added 3 new items on this menu and they take ages to load, even though they are not really that necessary and can be accessed without right clicking. I have taken a screen-shot and wondered if there is any way of removing the 3 marked items from my right click menu.

Glitched Right Click And Drop-down Menus

Aug 16, 2005

This is my first picture is my right-click menu. It is generated transparent and I have to run my cursor over each option manually before it is visable.ttp://idproject.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/glitch2.JPG

This second picture is my drop-down menu from MS Paint after I saved the first screenshot. Yet again, it's generated transparent, and I have to go through each option highlighting one-by-one to see them.

Right Click On File The Drop Down Options Appear

Apr 7, 2006

I have a problem with XP in that if I right click on a file the drop-down options appear and if I move down to select an option mostly I get a warning that Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. I click Debug but then get a Warning that DrWatson debugger has encountered a problem and needs to close as well. On the right click drop-down there is an option "Open with Videozilla". I have a hunch that this may have something to do with the problem because it is mostly when this is highlighted in navigating down the options that the problem occurs.

I searched all files for "zilla" and only remnants of Mozilla were found, which I removed. No Videozilla files were found. When the mouse hits Videozilla the folder closes, all icons on desktop disappear for a few seconds as if the PC was resetting. It does not crash but is infuriating. Anybody else ever experience something similar? I could be barking up the wrong tree blaming Videozilla.

Opened Drop Drown Menu My Documents - Doesn't Seem Not Work

Apr 22, 2006

I discovered that when I opened the Drop Down Menu in My Documents to move some image files into their appropriate folders, that My Documents which normally has the + next to it, that you click on to show all of your folders, well that is gone. Now I have to open an existing folder in My Documents and go back, in order for the + sign to appear. I know this does not seem like a huge problem, but I work with a lot of graphics and it becomes tedious. Does anyone know what caused this and how it can be fixed?

Created New User Account / Now Desktop All Messed Up

Oct 17, 2006

My computer was working fine. I would turn on the computer and it'll go straight into my desktop and I'll see all my files and icons on the desktop. Just 2 days ago, my son decides to "create" his own user account and he happens to set it him up also as the "administrator". When ever we turn on the computer, it would go to a screen and it would ask us to select a user to log on as (only one avail, it's his). We'd click his user account and it goes to a desktop, however, there is only 2 icons (recycle bin and adobe reader), nothing else. Where are my files/icons? How do I fix it? I rather undo what he did but it appears that I can't delete his user account because he is the administrator.

Drag-and-drop Web Page To Active Desktop?

Feb 5, 2009

How does one drag-and-drop a web page to Windows XP Active Desktop? I accidentally did it one day and was delighted with the results, but I can't repeat it and can't for the life of me find any mention online. The only way I can now accomplish the same result--displaying a web page in a window on my desktop, not just a link to a web page--is this sequence: Start | Control Panel | Display | Desktop | Customize Desktop... | Web | New.

I use Firefox almost all the time, so I believe I was using Firefox when the "happy accident" occurred, but I might have been using Internet Explorer.

PS running Windows Defender and Symantec Antivirus which I assume might be causing the issues if you know how to adjust it to better my performance that would be awesome.
