Downgrading From Pro To W2K

Feb 9, 2006

I have an old 98 system w/ 700mhz processor and 128meg ram. i recently put Xp Pro on it and have striped it down to the essentials and it is still very slow. i have a w2k installation cd that i'd like to install. for some reason my bios isn't seeing the disk (yes, the cd drive is first in boot list and yes, the drive is bootable). when i try to install the disk in xp it won't let me do it. is there anyway of getting around this?

No Audio After Downgrading To XP

Feb 13, 2009

My system came preinstalled with Vista so I "uninstalled" (Actually I'm dual booting) it and I installed XP. Now, I guess everything is working find except one thing:There is no audio. When I try to play music it says something about no audio device. So I might need some drivers. Any other solutions?

Downgrading From Vista

Aug 15, 2008

so now I have this nearly brand new laptop running vista and all its drivers and such were pre-installed on this laptop. I want to wipe the OS off, and put XP (home, pro, I dont care) on as it's replacement. Do I need to download any drivers or should it automatically find them on the internet? also it came with the thoshiba CD that has drivers on it, but will they work for XP?I am running 3gb RAM and some programs running with vista still say Im low on resources.. 3gb RAM should be plenty while running XP right?

Downgrading Operating System

Dec 18, 2008

The sticker that is attached says that it originally had Windows 98 or NT,It is now running XP2nd --Pentium 2 and has 160 Ram installed (which is the Maximum). As you would expect the machine is very slow. Would the speed increase if I uninstalled XP and Installed NT or 98?
