im running windows xp on a computer i built myself: 2.4ghz quad core pentium processor 2 gigs of ddr2 ram nvidia 9800gt graphics card I noticed a problem when running World of warcraft. I recently bought this card and was expecting to see around 70 fps with everything maxed out no problem. instead im seeing around 30-40 and the system seems to hang quite a bit. However, the computer runs farcry 2 quite exceptionally.

View 7 Replies View Relatedthis doesnt happen to me very often, but sometimes (maybe 1 in 20 boots) i get 50% (or near enough) cpu usgae when my pc is idle, i normally notice it when im playing a game and obviously i can clearly notice a decrease in performance.If anyone knows why this is happening and if its meant to be happening could ya let me know :| and if needed could someone tell me how to fix it ps- if its norton im soon gonna remove it and get avg anyway!

In task manager I get usage from, services.exe zlclient.exe taskmgr.exe explorer.exe ycommon.exe vsmon.exe system idle process at 98% There are 70 processes from all users. Is this normal or what? I'm very diligent about running Ad-ware and Spybot at least twice a week. I have Avast antivirus and Zonealarm firewall and Windows defender running. I defrag once per week.Windows XP professional, 250 g hard drive, 2g memory.
View 4 Replies View RelatedThe only real problem I have is when I am playing a video or movie, it jumps up to 100% and causes the video to freeze up for a few seconds. I've gone through msconfig and turned off a bunch of start up stuff that I didn't need. I went from having about 50 processes to less than 30 and have seen no difference. I then changed the performance options from the Control Panel to optimize the system for performance. I have defragged, scanned with AVG and Ad-Aware

Straight out of the box, the cpu usage when idle was at around 3%, then i uninstalled all the dell junk programs. Somewhere down the line, the cpu idle shot to 35%. The programs that are causing this are csrss.exe and spoolsv.exe, each taking up about 17 cpu each. When i end spoolsv.exe, I notice that my csrss.exe cpu usage will increase. I reinstalled my windows OS and it seemed fine until the next day, these two processes started acting up again. I don't know what else to do, and i'm sure these processes aren't viruses.

FRESH clean install. running SP3. xp pro.then installed graphic and mother board drivers.before connecting to the internet or any LAN or installing anyother application. i installed NOD 32 and Spy bot, did both scans. then connected to the internet and did updates for nod and spybot. and scanned again. CPU usage after this was 1%.later during the day. my CPU suddenly was 50 % and idle was 99%that to me is wrong. and if its just a bug. its one that is killing my pc.this is a constant rate of 60% odd (running so far for 3 hours... no change)

View 2 Replies View Relatedhowever many times i try to restart the sound doesn't come on, on my newly installed XP proffesional SP2. this also used to happen to my other operating system media centre edition but not as often as SP2. in media centre edition i used to go to the control panel> sounds and then exited and restarted and everything was ok, but now nothing gets the sound up?? i cannot increase the sound level cause it tells me that the device is not found.

I don't have this problem on my other 2 computers and nothing is new on this one that I haven't done to the other ones, when I run some clean up tools or install new software programs usually all the computers are done alike so the computer I am on is the only one having the problem with the same web site.

When booted in "safe mode" it reads several files (in DOS - I think) and stops on reading a path on the "C" drive ending with something like ...../AGP 440 or ..../AGP 44? (or something smilar).

I just put a new hard drive in and put the operating system on with the recovery cds. everything works great except for one problem. now 2 or 3 or 4 times a day when you use the computer, and no matter what you leave on when you walk away, like word or a site on the internet whatevert it may be and when you come back the screen is black and the error box that says no signal is on the screen. I made sure the graphics card has the newest driver, and the monitor is pretty new flat screen and always work well. I changed the monitor cable since it was saying no signal I figured it really had to be one of two things, either the monitor cable or the graphics card. My question is do you agree and will a graphics card do that when it is going out? will it work ok when you start the computer and then after awhile get no signal?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI bought a Visiontek ATI Radeon X1300 512MB graphics card last night and I can't get it to work. No display shows up on my monitor. This card needs an additional power supply which I have supplied (i.e. used one of the extra power plugs from the power supply in my computer). It sounds as if my computer keeps restarting, but can't say for sure since the screen remains black. It works fine when I put back in my old ATI Radeon 9200 series card, but if I try the new card, NOTHING!!! If anyone has this card and has had the same problem, please give me the solution to fixing this.
