The 2 contacts are marked as Favourites and originally come from my Skype account.... how they came to be in my email contacts list.
How I can remove them from my email contacts list without removing them from Skype also.

Jun 17, 2013I have an Acer desktop pc at home, running Windows 8 Pro, and I use Outlook 2010 as my primary (POP3) email tool. Obviously I have an extensive contacts file in there.
I have just bought a SP 128Gb and installed Outlook 2013 on the one month free trial. So, far I like it.
I took it in to work today and the IT guys set it up for connectivity to the Corporate WiFi, VPN, etc. How can I copy my contacts info from my home pc into my Pro?

I need all those contacts to use my mail.. right now I can only copy (the address ) from a received mail to send a new message to a Contact.
How can I get this to work? I can go to the TILES see all those contacts, something is saying it is synking something on that page.. Yet it never completes
I made my won home page for W 8 .. was much easier then trying to figure it all out.
Had worked flawlessly until just the past 2 weeks.

Jul 11, 2014I have tried exporting the contacts in WLM in win XP using CSV format and importing into WLM in win 8. The result was a real mess, missing data, sometimes 3 entries made for the same contact, it was horrendous. There should be a better way to transfer from one DBstore to another, in the same way one can transfer PST files in Outlook.
PS I have tried copying the DBstore over by replacing the folder, the result is no contacts; I guess the file in XP is somehow different to that expected by win 8?

May 16, 2013I just noticed my contacts from my Live account are not the same as the ones shown in my Windows 8 mail app (People). Looking closer at the properties in my phone, I noticed that some say Hotmail and other say Verizon Backup Assistant Plus.
My question is how do I get all the ones backed up by Verizon but included in my Live account so show up on my desk top(Hotmail Type)? How can I convert the contact type from Verizon to Live?

Dec 13, 2013Why can I not sync my Global Address Book? When I add info via active directory, it updates in the GAB, not in the contact list, and the contact list is what shows on the phone....and is what we need to update as we add info!!!!! Why isn't this possible? That isn't "syncing" that is just refreshing what is already there! We have around 500 employees, and having to log into each of there emails and add new contacts manually is NOT ok.
How do I sync my droid with exchange's GAB? Like I said, I can copy all of the GAB to contacts, but that doesn't do anything? It doesn't update in there when you add or change information..

Jan 30, 2014I have recently bought a Windows 8 tablet, and also use a W7 PC. I use Outlook on the PC, and will be using the tablet while on the move, sometimes disconnected. I want to be able to take my emails, contacts, calendar and some documents with me on the tablet.
i intend to use SkyDrive for the documents, and will use the mail app, or install Outlook on the tablet to have a copy of emails on it, but I am not sure how to make sure that contacts and calendar are synchronised on both machines. I use a local to UK mail provider (btinternet).

Jun 3, 2014In the last couple of days the JUNK folder for the Windows 8.1 Mail app has not received any postings. I can see the email in the Junk folder if I use Outlook or my iphone. Unfortunately an important email was sent to the Junk folder and I missed it until I located it using Outlook. I have not changed any settings, as far as I know, prior to this problem starting.

Jan 23, 2014I am so confused about where outlook 2013 keeps things.
I have installed Outlook 2013 and would like to import my contacts from my outlook 2007 in another computer. I have already prepared the contacts.pst file from outlook 2007 and made it available in my public folders. I then imported the .pst file into Outlook 2013 via network. However the contacts shows up as a separate contact list rather than integrated into the outlook 2013 address book . How to correct it?
I must have got the process wrong.

May 11, 2013Windows 8 Mail seems to have many problems. When I connect my Hotmail account, I only see unread counts on the Inbox - not for any of my folders until I actually open them in Mail. Is this expected behavior??? Sure makes someone with a lot of folders unhappy when first setting up Mail... Will it sync and update the unread counts as new message come in?

And speaking of GMail - many folders just don't import. I set the import setting for back to the end of time - but they don't import. Same issues as with Hotmail - unread counts are not updated until a folder is opened - so if a folder name is not imported and thus can't be opened...then...
Also, I delete messages in Windows 8 - and the Deleted folder - but they don't get deleted from the GMail server. If afterwards I execute a sync in Windows 8 Mail - the messages come back! All told, it makes this mail client unusable.

Aug 23, 2014I recently switched from OE to WLM because I purchased a new laptop (Win 8.1). I incorrectly assumed, since OE is about 8 years old, WLM would be far more advanced in every aspect.
A huge annoyance is: whenever I need to find a folder in Storage Folders, instead of keying the first letter of the folder I seek, as with OE, I must scroll down to find it. To make matters worse; all of the Storage Folders are expanded to reveal the sub folders by default. So, as I scroll down, each time, I must manually collapse each expanded folder.
Any way to cause WLM Storage Folders to behave like OE.

Mainly I'm interested in setting one specific folder as default for every time I right click on an image and choose save as. I'm tired of having to browse through to my images folder each and every time. It didn't used to do this until I upgraded to windows 8.1. I don't really use "libraries" as there are only two folders I use for downloads. One is for images. The other is for everything else. I don't mind having to browse to my downloads folder, just not the images folder as that is generally what I download the most since I work with graphics a lot.

Sep 20, 2013​Customising user folder icons has always been a bit tricky. All user folders apart from the desktop and contacts user folders can be changed via the customize tab in properties when the user folder is accessed from my computer (i.e. not from the desktop).
To customise the desktop and contacts user folders requires a registry change. For Windows 7 this is explained here User Folders - Change Default Icon - Windows 7 Forums, and the necessary .reg files are also provided. This method actually worked for me too in Windows 8. However, after the newest updates, the icons I had added this way have disappeared, and so has the customize tab which I had added via the .reg files available on the page mentioned above. Repeating the reg change would not make a difference. The newest updates must have changed something in the Windows 8 registry to that effect (through those updates all other user folders also lost the custom icon I had previously added, but I was able to easily restore them, as the customize tab of these user folders didn't disappear).
Hence my question: how to now change the folder icons for the desktop and contacts user folders in windows 8?
Since all my other user folders are customised in a particular style, leaving the default icon for the desktop and contacts folders looks a bit weird...

Jun 12, 2013I was using my Gmail account with the Windows 8 Mail App and it was all working fine until I updated it through the store yesterday (I haven't updated it before so I don't know what version of the app I am now using). Today when I try and access my folders I just getting a message saying 'no messages from the last 2 weeks', meaning I cannot access all those useful emails that I have kept on purpose without using gmail through chrome. I have looked through the settings and cannot find if there is a way to change this - is there? Or can I un-install the update and just go back to using the old version, and if so, how would I do this.

Dec 17, 2013My parents bought a PC last year running Windows 8. I set up there talktalk E mail accounts in the Windows 8 Native E mail client from the Mail tile at the start screen without any problem. All worked fine until recently when in order to download an app they had to register an Outlook E Mail address. Not sure if they had updates applied as well but they had to start logging on to the PC at boot up every time using a password. In an effort to resolve this they restored the PC to an earlier time which has cured the logging on issue (ie no password required) but when they access the Mail tile from the start screen it is an outlook E Mail account that comes up. I have tried without success logging into this outlook account and then adding the talktalk accounts. I even tried using my own account but could not add that either.
All they want is to click the Mail tile and get there talktalk accounts to come up just as before (no outlook or hotmail or anything else). Is there a way to reset the E Mail client/tile in Windows 8 back to what came with PC so that I could set it up just as I did when the PC was purchased. They are running Windows 8 and do not wish to restore back to factory settings as they have a few other bits and pieces of software installed.If they upgrade to Windows 8.1 will they be forced into using a password to log on every time ?
