Install Freeze On Partition
I am installing a windows 7 beta 64 bit edition on an 25GB partition with 18.5 GB available - the other part is failed attempts now in a windows.old folder, and it keeps freezing during the completing installation. My anti-virus is disabled, and the partition was formated in the default format not quick format if that makes a difference. Am I doing something wrong, or am I just too impatient? The screen is frozen, and so is the mouse.

Screen And Keyboard Freeze After Live Essentials Install
I have Win 7 on a2+ year old sony laptop. It is a vgn-fs980. I have a 120GB HDD and the pentium m processor. This laptop has ran Vista business. I do not have 3D effects because the driver is XDDM and i have the Intel 915 chipset. Short story long, I was installing the live essentials pack, when , at the completeion of the download the entire screen froze. Gadget, pointer, the whole shabang! i could not even manage to get around by keyboard. Just wandering if any one else has had this problem? If you have what kind of work around did you find? I initially thought it was the directX9 3D drivers that installed with WMM. But a system restore did nothing.

Setup Clean Install, Restart, Black Screen, Freeze
I have the exact same problem. I was fine with Beta on a separate drive partition of 80GB. I formatted it completely, install RC on it. After all is said and done and rebooted twice, it boots with a black screen (with Windows 7 Evaluation copy. Build 7100 on bottom right corner of screen) and nothing else happens even for 20 minutes. It seems stuck. Due to GTX 260 nvidia card perhaps? I have an Asus P5K-E Intel based motherboard. I installed the x64 Windows 7 RC... Another thing that I don't understand is that it never asked me for a Product ID during the installation. I imagine that would be at first bootup?.

Win 7 Sound Freeze
I am having a very strange issue with my audio where, after a certain period of time, anything that requires sound freezes. From opening music software such as Zune and WMP, to running a simple youtube video and even testing the default windows sounds, anything that requires my audio drivers, fails. I am forced to restart my computer to get the sound back. I'm using Windows 7 x64 build 7600, with the IDT High Definition Audio CODEC (Driver Version 6.10.6209.0, Dated 6/3/2009) This driver was updated through windows update as an optional update. There also seems to be the generic "High Definition Audio Device" there as well, which is very uncanny as that usually would be updated by the IDT driver. It does get very annoying that after, say, 30 min~1 hour, the audio decides to shut off and freeze many of my sound requiring applications but I'm willing to cooperate to help solve this problem, even if in the end there won't be one.

Win 7 Freeze While Browsing Internet
Whenever I browse the internet, through Firefox or IE, the browser eventually freezes. This happens about every 10 minutes. After the browser freezes it spreads to the rest of the system. The keyboard and mouse eventually stop responding and a hard reset becomes necessary. I've seen many people have this same problem, including people on technet, but never a solution. Is there a solution to this problem? Does anyone know what the problem is?

Win 7 Volume Control Freeze
If I try to adjust volume control by clicking on the volume button in the system tray while playing Flash games in Facebook, or watching Flash video, the volume control freezes and will not open again. Also, all applications using Flash stop working as well. This is probably related to Flash not being supported by a 64 bit system, however this problem occurs when I use IE8 32 bit. The way to fix it is to go to control panel and uninstall Flash and the Flash Plug In. Then, restart the computer and go to www.adobe.com and reinstall Flash. This is annoying and may not be fixed until Flash comes out with a 64 bit version, but I was wondering if anyone knows how to fix this permanently? Laptop is a Dell Studio 1735 and this is the only problem I'm having.

Sleep Mode Still Freeze Up, Win 7 RTM
I am still having bug and freeze problems on all of the computers that I have been testing on since the first release in November. I am currently testing both x64 and x86 versions on 4 of my PC's and still having minor bug issues, and the major freeze problem. I do not Just use my PC's for e-mails, browsing the web and gaming. I primarily use them for Engineering Design Work and they need lots of resources to operate efficiently. My primary Base unit is the one I do most of my work on and the Most efficient Operating system on it is Windows XP x64 (sp2) and customized. (Not the Basic install of services and registry sets). The freeze issue is random and it happens when my PC's go into sleep mode. Some times the will wake up normally, but way to often they will not wake at all, I have to force re-boot. And no error logs related to sleep mode issues, only the E-ID 41 (forced re-boot). This has happened on all the releases from 7000 to 7127, and now 7600, the releases from 7137 to 7229 never had this problem. And this has happened on all my test PC's including Laptops and Desktops. I have tried many changes in settings for Power Settings (Advanced), Network Adapter Settings, Monitor settings. Ideally I want my Network Adapter to stay Active on my main box so I can access files from my other computers any time I need them, I want my HDD's to go to sleep when not in use so they will live for a while. and My Monitors to shut down when not in use.

Win 7 Freeze With Folder Creation On Network Shares
I have a Windows Home Server which works perfectly. I have two Windows 7 RTM machines, one a laptop and the other a desktop. From the Laptop i can create and rename Folders on the share with ease. From the desktop, whenever i create or rename a folder from explorer or another app the program freezes for around a minute before completeing successfully. Whilst the program has froze, if i browse to my shared folders i can see that the change has taken place. Even though the program is still frozen. Its driving me nuts, any ideas?

Sleep Mode Still Freeze Up, Win 7 RTM X64
Windows 7 form the first Beta, Constantly Freezing up when going into "sleep mode", this included powering down hdd's, nothing would wake up the system, had to force reboot. There was no error reports in the event logs other than Event ID 41 "The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly." This Issue happened in the releases from the 7000 version in both the x64 and x32 modes on 4 different computers, 2 laptops and 2 desktops. It also happened in other releases up to and including the 7100 versions. After the 7127 versions it stopped happening. Now it is constantly happening in the 7600 RTM versions, I have tried many changes in settings for Power Settings (Advanced), Network Adapter Settings, Monitor settings. What could be causing this. Ideally I want my Network Adapter to stay Active on my main box so I can access files from my other computers any time I need them, I want my HDD's to go to sleep when not in use so they will live for a while. and My Monitors to shut down when not in use.

XP And 7 Install Issues (Won't Boot Into Win 7 Install)
I have XP SP2 installed. I used EASEUS Partition Master to split my drive in half, one half being XP, the other half being a future install of Windows 7. Put DVD in, selected the blank partition, began the install. Once it gets to the first reboot, it will reboot and go straight into XP. There is no option to choose Windows 7. The XP boot.ini has only one entry for XP. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm thinking I need to add an entry for Windows 7, but have no clue what to put and I'm also guessing I'd have to add a few special tags because it's booting into the setup process of Win 7.

Can Win 7 Professional Install Over Win 7 RC Ultimate ?
I have pre-ordered Windows 7 Professional upgrade & the more I read up on this, I don't know if my upgrade path will work. I had Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit on an HP laptop, I was having issues with the Vista o/s, so I installed the Windows 7 RC & everything works just fine at least til June 2010. my question is will the Windows 7 Professional o/s install over the Windows 7 RC Ultimate? I have my Vista Home Premium license # still on my laptop, but I don't have any Vista backups that actually work, I made a backup following HP's instructions(I was only allowed to make 1 copy)just after I purchased. If I can't get Windows 7 Professional to work on this laptop I will just cancel my pre-order & save myself $99.

Can I Install Win 7 X32 Bit Then Later To Win 7 X64 Bit With Same Licence Key ?
I currently run Windows XP x32 bit Operating System. I have ordered the "full retail" version of Windows 7. I understand that 2 discs will be enclosed in the box, one for installing Windows 7 x32 bit and the other for installing Windows 7 x64 bit. I understand that I need to choose whether I want the x32 bit or x64 bit Windows 7 Operating System and install the 1 I choose at that point. I am quite happy with that. However, what I would like to do is initially install the Windows 7 x32 bit system and in about 6 months (when I have upgraded my hardware sufficiently) then move on to the x64 bit Windows 7 Operating System.  Can I do this with the same 1 licence that comes with the full retail version I have just ordered or will I need to buy another copy of Windows 7 ? It would not bother me if I had to do a "clean install" to move from x32 bit to x64 bit.

Win 7 Install On New Drive
I am purchasing an upgrade copy of Windows 7 and want to do a clean install on my Vista machine. I want to purchase a second hard drive to install the new operating system for a "clean install" and use my old drive as as secondary drive. I am not interested in running Vista from it, only the software installed on the old drive. Can this be done? If so, how? I really would appreciate your help. Both are serial drives.
