Compatibility issues webcam LifeCam drives us next to Windows 7 build 7260, higher and is also used in build 7600.16385, not working in compatibility mode and being blocked by the system in a normal installation drives LifeCam 2.91 and 2.3

LifeCam VX-5000 Webcam Not Working
I have a Microsoft LifeCam VX-5000 which was working ok. Switched the PC on the other day, now it comes up as Vega 2.0 USB camera, and it won't work with anything like the LifeCam software, Skype, MSN, etc. Tried uninstalling it and reinstalling the drivers, but it still comes up as Vega 2.0. Is it faulty?

Running LifeCam 3.0 on Windows 7 RC.

Edit: Just checked the driver32 folder under Microsoft LifeCam, and it doesn't list the VX-5000, just the NX and VX-6000, VX-1000 and VX-3000. Am I stuffed with the VX-5000? Of course, there's no way of submitting this as in issue any more in the Action Centre.

Lifecam NX-3000 Webcam Initialization Error
I am getting Initialization error when trying to use Lifecam NX-3000. The latest Windows seven driver is installed (2.9). The computer recognizes the webcam but cannot start it. I tried with a bunch of other webcams. All are recognized and the drivers get loaded but there is always a message that some other process is using the camera. Tried removing and stopping processes - no luck.
There is no problem at all using the same hardware on XP Pro.

The motherboard is AsRock 4Core1600P35-WiFi+ (latest Intel inf installed) and the graphics adapter is ASUS EN8500GT TOP/HTP/256M GeForce 8500 GT 256MB 128-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16.

I have the feeling that it is the adapter or DirectX 11 but I don't know how to check.

Default Webcam Drivers
currently have Windows 7 RC 64bit installed but have come across only one problem so far.
A webcam i have that was pretty cheap and cheerful had appauling drivers that came with it but when installed on 32bit vista with the drivers vista found itself it worked awesomely, even better than when it was using the drivers that came with the hardware. But the thing is after plugging it in on Windows 7 there doesnt appear to be a compatible driver for basic cam fuctionality.

Drivers For Logitech Webcam Zoom
I have a Logitech Webcam Zoom (the white and blue model).  It is USB connected.

Windows 7 only detects it as unknown USB device.

I found some discussion on the internet for a workaround.....
- install an old driver/softwer
- then install a new driver/software

With that, I now have the webcam detect/showup correctly on Device Manager.
The webcam seems to be functioning ok with the Logitech Quick Capture software.
But I couldn't get it to work with LiveMessenger.

Any idea?

Philips Webcam Drivers Not Supported
I have a webcam that worked decently in windows xp. Sadly it's a cheap Phillips model whose website says vista drivers won't be supported. I'm wondering if there is any way to get the xp driver to work for it. I've been hearing alot about this "xp mode", might it work for hardware too or is it just a virtual environment for software?

Is it a lost cause? Is there perhaps a way to install the xp driver files by hand? I'm hoping that the installer just doesn't put them in the right place ... or are there innate differences in how a webcam driver would work from xp to Win7?

I'm running the 64bit RC from the microsoft site... 7100 i guess.

LifeCam Not Compatible
Try as I might, I can't get LifeCam VX-3000 to work in Windows 7.  Downloaded latest driver, tried all compatable modes available.  Initially was getting Blue Screens, but now Windows 7 has clicked in with the trouble report that seems to block the Blue Screen before it occurs.

Anybody have LifeCam VX-3000 web camera by Microsoft working on 32 bit Windows 7?  How did you do it?

MS LifeCam Software Errors In Win7 RC
Purchased a LifeCam VX5500, during the install, I repeatedly got an error msg that said "This software is incompatible with this version of Windows". To be fair, the box does say Vista/XP, not 7..

After several install/uninstall/reboot attemps, I just plugged in the camera and directed Device Manger to the CD folder with the drivers. Once the hardware was recognized ok, WinLive began to install, but still gave me the error msgs. Camera works ok in Skype, but it's not using Live program..

Lifecam Cinema Initalization Error
Ok, runnings Windows 7 Ultimate x64, just bought a Lifecam Cinema, installed Lifecam 3.0 but when I try to use the webcam there's a Intialization Error message always in sight.   I've used msconfig to boot up with MS only services running, nope same thing.

Uninstalled, reinstalled. No change.  Removed Lifecam and tried to test another webcam, this time a Logitech 9000... can't use that either, 'another application is using the webcam' or words to that effect.  So I can't use any webcams on this Windows 7 build.  The same webcams work fine on a Vista Business x86 build on a different drive in the same computer.

Is the Initalization error caused by the same problem the Logitech cam is reporting? Is there anyway to determine what may be using the cam and is it possible when only MS services are selected (and all startups are deselected)?   I'm totally stumped with this one.
