USB Device Not Recognized On Win 7 - USB Mouse
I have a 4 week old Inspiron 1545 with Windows 7 Home premium that has developed an error: USB errors while trying to install a Microsoft USB mouse on this Laptop. Interestingly, my Microsoft USB Mouse installed perfectly first time and worked for about 2 weeks, and then failed. In looking at the system restore points, it tells me that there have been two driver updates to the USB environment since the unit was shipped from Dell. I wonder if an automatic update from Microsoft has somehow inadvertently updated or replaced a Dell factory driver. Two nights ago I spent 45 minutes with Dell tech support doing remote control bug fixing on this laptop. They werent able to fix it (in the time allowed). They downloaded at least one of their newest drivers onto this machine and rebooted it - and they seemed pretty savvy - but still not working. So I went ahead a did a system restore to a point about 10 days back because I could see that a USB driver would be affected (as shown in the system restore menus), and I would like to compliment Microsoft on this very cool functionality! At this point, I've unplugged the USB mouse, used the Device Manager to delete the 'unknown device', and done a system restore back to what I suspected was a working point. But still getting a 'Device not recognized' warning every few minutes, and still don't have a working mouse. I don't want to have to do system restores back to pprevious dates, although I suspect this is one solution.

None Of USB Connections Are Recognized
I have just installed Windows 7 32 bit and now none of my USB connections are being recognised. my computer specs are: http://www.acerdirect.co.uk/Acer_Aspire_9301AWSMi_Laptop_LX.AWP0X.008/version.asp Before I installed Windows 7 everything worked fine on XP. I have 3 Maxtor Onetouch 4 external hard drives, a logitech wireless keyboard and mouse. Even my iphone isnt being found when i plug it in. I get no response from windows when I plug the USB's in. I can hear the external hard drives powering up so it isn't a power issue and I have swapped all of the USB connection leads about and it doesn't make any difference. I've tried all of my hard drives on my friends computer and they all work fine. Ive looked through the forums for answers but cannot seem to find any that work. I have been to the disk manager and device manager and they cant find the USB connections. Ive also been to the Maxtor/Seagate website and non of their walk through seem to work or be applicable to this scenario. Any help that you could give me would be greatly appreciated as I'm a student and really need to access these external hard drives along with my i-Phone etc (preferably on my own PC).

USB Device Not Recognized, Only At 4/12 Ports
I have Kingston 2GB DataTraveler (DT) and windows 7 RTM 64bit does not recognize it when pluged into 2 front usb ports or 2 top back usb ports. Other 6 lower back ports work. I have Gigabyte GA-EP35-DS3 mobo. This mobo has 8 usb on the back and 2 usb headers. One header is used for Codegen 7in1 cardreader+1usb port, other is used for 2 front panel usb ports. Few things ive noticed: 1) my old apacer mp3 player works on all usb ports. 2) most of new higher capacity usb's are not recognized in those malfuncioning ports 3) if i plug DT into Codegen's USB port, DT is then recognized on all ports I've read this thread, tried instaling new Intel's Infs, tried removing all usb devices exept Codegen's. No effect. Any suggestions for my case?

USB Device Not Recognized Only In Win7
I have a WD Passport 160GB portable HDD, which worked fine in XP on the same computer before I installed Windows 7. As many other people experienced, the once the device is connected, it will show USB device not recognized. However, my mouse and keyboard, which are USB also, are working flawlessly. Besides the Passport, I have a Maxtor External HDD which is not working also, I tried every single USB port on the computer and it just won't work. And this one is powered by a small power adapter, so it should not be anything related to USB power. On the other hand, the Maxtor HDD is visible from BIOS, just not in Windows 7. My computer is single boot Windows 7 RC 64bit, clean install. I'm using Q6600, Foxconn MARS P35 mobo, Seagate 7200.10 250GB HDD, PNY 8600GT, OCZ 2x2GB DDR2 800 ram. I don't think the hardware have any problem since in XP everything worked fine, and all the drivers are up to date according to the device manager in Windows 7. Any advice?

Medion USB Disk Is Not Recognized
Have a problem with my Medion USB disk. This is Win7 (7100 x64) is not automatically detected, then I have in Device Manager after new hardware search. With luck, the panel then realized it before but it then a blue screen comes (Bugcode_USB_Driver) and I reboot the PC needs. Is there a solution?

Usb Foot Pedal Is Not Recognized
I use a VEC USB footpedal with medical transcription software. The footpedal works great with Windows 7, using the default Windows driver. Plug it in and it works. Under Virtual PC, however, the footpedal is not recognized. It doesn't show up under devices at the top of the screen, and nothing happens on the XP side when I plug it in. I do have virtualization turned on in my BIOS, and all other peripherals work beautifully. Any ideas? This is my last hope, my old XP laptop is dying fast. My new laptop is only 3 months old, so I would hate to have to buy a new Dell with XP loaded. I already tried VirtualBox on Vista, and NONE of my USB peripherals worked. Overall, I love Windows 7 and would upgrade today from Vista, but it would still just be a paperweight as far as my work goes. Any ideas?

USB Hard Drive Recognized - Not Accessible
I have a Verbatim/SmartDisk USB 2.0 Firelite external drive. The drive is recognized by the system and shows up in the Device and Printers management tool. While I can see the drive, I cannot view the data on it. I have another external USB drive by Western Digital and it is fully recognized and accessible from Win7 RC1. The Firelite is recognized and accessible on a WinXP system. It was working on Win7 Beta. I am running Win7 RC1 Thoughts?

Corsair 16GB USB Stick Not Recognized
I have a Sony VGN-FZ320E laptop. I have installed Windows 7 Home Premium. My Corsair 16 GB "Flash Survivor Memory Drive" does not show up as a drive in Windows Explorer. In the Device Manager it shows up under "Disk Drives" as "Corsair UFD USB Device". In Disk Management it shows up as "Disk 1 - Removable - 15.00 GB - Online". If I right-click it there and select Format, Properties, etc. I get an error message that the "Disk Management console view is not up-to-date..." My USB disk drives work fine. Ideas?

Usb Hardware Not Recognized Win 7 64 Bit
i have just taken delivery of a new custom built pc and thought everything was going ok until i tried to plug in a usb pen drive, its not recognzied in any of the usb slots, i have tried another pen drive and an external hardrive and when i plug them in i just get a message saying USB device not recognized, i have plugged in a usb mouse and keyboard and they work fine, i have checked the bios and that looks fine, i have updated all the drivers i can think of, i have uninstalled all the usb host controllers and rebooted the pc, i have tried turning the pc off at the wall for 5 mins and turning it back on.

Usb Pci Card Devices Not Recognized
I just installed a new PCI USB 2.0 card into my machine. I have a Line 6 Toneport UX8 that connects to the PC by USB as the interface for microphones and instruments. Because of the high volume of data coming down the pipe from this external interface it is pretty much a 'mandatory recommendation' to use a dedicated USB controller in a PCI slot. I also have a security USB fob for my Cubase 5 DAW. It isn't being recognized to be able to allow the Cubase program to start. It is used to verify the authenticity of the Cubase program, and Cubase won't start if it isn't there. Anyway, I installed the PCI card just fine but when I plug in the UX8 to it, Windows 7 reports 'USB device not recognized'. It is recognized if I plug it into one of the motherboard's USB slots though. I need to use this PCI card, otherwise the recording quality is useless. I know other people have this external interface and run it into a dedicated PCI/USB controller with great results. So I am hoping someone here can suggest what I can do to get Windows 7 to recognize the card and the USB devices plugged into it. I'm hoping I don't have to reinstall the OS since it will be a pain to have to reinstall again when the commercial licenses come out in less than a month (I'm assuming I'll have to reinstall since I will be using an upgrade from my XP Pro that I have not used since trying out this Windows 7 RC). I have tried to unplug the PC from the wall per other forums suggestions to supposedly reset the USB info. I have deleted all hidden devices in 'device manager' that were greyed out. This got the devices recognized, but they still didn't work. i.e. The red light on the security usb fob lit up, which usually indicates it is working, but when I start up Cubase, Cubase can't find the device and won't start. I want to be able to plug this into the PCI cards internal USB connector (it also has four external) so that when I close up the box there is no chance of me accidentally knocking the security usb fob and damaging it. I did that once and it cost me about $60 and two weeks to replace! (Some DAW products if you lose the security usb fob, you need to spend hundreds of dollars to replace the whole program... i.e. they don't replace the usb fob). My motherboard is an Asus P6T WS Pro with an i7 920 Processor and 6 Gigs of DDR3 RAM. The PCI USB card is a Bytecc USB 2.0+IEEE 1394 Combo Card (BT-PCI-U2FW) with a VIA chipset I believe.

Dynex USB Wireless-N Adapter Not Recognized
I am running the 64 bit version of Windows 7 RC on a machine I built. I have a (admittedly cheap) Dynex USB Wireless-N adapter. I am using the Vista Driver. I have a continuing problem with the adapter not being recognized. I pretty much have to remove and reinstall it each time I restart the computer. I contacted the manufacturer and all they said is that they never tested the device for Windows 7 and that I should ask Microsoft for drivers. Does anybody know of other drivers that might work or if there is a way to install my adapter so that it remains recognized?

USB 2.0 Problem - Not Recognized Mass Storage Devices
I have a problem with my usb chipset + Windows 7. After installing Windows 7, the OS hasn't recognized any Mass Storage devices, like my 1TB FreeAgent (external hard disk) or any DOK I have. I've tried to disable the "Standard Enhanced PCI to USB Host Controller", and suddenly the Windows recognized them. But, of course - they have ran as USB 1.1 speed... I've tried to downgrade this driver to XP version (5.1.2600.0). So now it's enabled, but I still have a problem with the speed: in transfering files from/to external storage, it starts on high speed as it should be (about 50MB/s), but after a few seconds is slows its speed. About 30 after, it's even going to 1MB/s...

Belkin Bluetooth USB Driver For Vista 64 Not Recognized
I tried to connect my pda/mobile via bluetooth to my Windows 7 computer, without any success. I tried to install belkin btw 6.0.1vista as I had done previously with Vista 64 (and it worked then beautifully). It seems to get installed but then I simply cannot connect. What should I do, please?

Kingston Data Traveler USB Flash Drive Not Recognized
I have Windows 7 64-bit running on Gigabyte GA-P55A-UD3R, Intel P55 chipset, 4 GB RAM. I have several USB ports, but on some of them, the USB flash drive (Kingston Data Traveler and Compact Flash external card reader) are not recognized, except for as stated below. The driver for the bad USB port is reported as up to date. My observations until now: 1) Memory set to 2 GB in Windows (as per instructions in the earlier thread about similar problem) caused BSOD and I had to reinstall the OS. 2) On some USB ports, the USB flash drive is recognized. 3) The keyboard works correctly on the same port, actually even the USB drive flashes one time before the error. 4) Maybe the most interesting part: I have two front USB ports and internal card reader connected to two internal dual USB "hubs" on the motherboard. When I unplug the card reader (from one hub), the USB flash drive plugged into the front USB port (and connected to the other hub) is suddenly recognized. What could be the reason and how to solve this problem? Is the mobo bad? Is the chipset "overloaded" when using both internal hubs? Is there a bug in Windows?

D-Link DWL-122 Wireless USB Adapters Not Recognized
I was wondering if anyone has had any luck getting a D-Link DWL-122 to work.I can't find updated drivers for it, and the device manager doesn't have it in its list of adapters for D-Link. I also have an Airlink101 300N wireless USB adapter. AWLL6080) that I can't get to work. When I select the Airlink101 list of drivers in Windows, it shows three different versions of the driver for it, but all of them report not being able to start the adapter when I install them. What I don't understand is that I asked the vendor about support for Win7 and got the response below. I'm not sure where the drivers in Win7 came from, but they must not have been from the vendor :-( Has anyone found a Wireless-N USB adapter that does work? Here's my Q&A with the vendor; it's sort of a stupid response from a hardware vendor if you ask me, but it was in the evening, so maybe the smart guys were at home (Airlink101? I installed the Windows 7 beta. I have the AWLL6080, but none of the drivers included with Windows will start the adapter, and those on the CD will not work either. Do you plan driver support for Win7 and if so do you have an idea of timing for it?

Usb Kinsgton Data Traveller 8GB Flash Disk Not Recognized
Yesterday I installed the RC edition of Windows 7 Ultimate (32 bit) and all the updates from the windows update tool. The problem I have is that every USB Drive I connected to my laptop (I forgot to say that I have an HP Pavilion DV6765EV notebook) is not recognized by Windows (Windows Explorer or Disk Management Tool ) . It gets power from the usb port , the "Found New Hardware" tool starts , but it never ends the procedure as supposed to do. So I'm getting an error in Device Manager like "Unknown Device" and the drive is not accesible by all means. The USB Drives I tried to connect are : 1 Kinsgton Data Traveller 8GB Flash Disk and 3 Western Digital My Book Essential Edition 2.0 Hard Disks with size of 500 GB , 750GB & 1TB. All the above drives are working perfectly in my other computer that has Windows Vista Premium on it.

Roper FreeLan Wireless USB Adapter Recognized As Mass Storage Device
I am having problems with this hardware: Roper FreeLan 802.11 Wireless 125Mbps USB It is a USB wireless adapter and when I plug it it is recognized by windows 7 as a mass storage device. When I try to update the drivers (with the last drivers provided by the manufacturer) Windows refuses it, saying the already installed ones are the newest. Any solution?

External Hard Drive (USB) Not Being Recognized As A Drive
I am having trouble with my external hard drive (USB) not being recognized as a drive. I have a Dell Dim 9200 which was running Vista. I upgraded to Windows 7 and now my external hard drive is not recognized. It is a Venus DB3 enclosure with a WD 500 GB HD. Under Devices and Printers "Cypress AT2LP (3.03.0000.2)" shows as unspecified. Everytime I turn the HD on/off the computer recognizes that it was turned on.

New Harddrive Not Recognized
I bought a new WD scorpio blue for my hp laptop. backed up all the data on my old hard drive, removed it, and put the new hard drive in. windows is not seeing it, and i'm not sure the bios is either. please help! i'd like to use the new harddrive (bigger capacity) instead of the old, but i don't understand how to have the system know the harddrive is there. the laptop is an hp compaq 8510w. i had Windows 7 running it on for about 4 months. the new harddrive is the western digital blue scorpio 500gb.

CD Drive Not Recognized After Reboot
I'm using a Dell laptop Studio XPS 1640. Ok, I was about to upgrade to Windows 7 and it listed a couple of programs that needed to be deleted, so I uninstalled them. The 2nd or 3rd time I was required to restart my computer, it froze at the "Shutting Down..." screen for about 20 minutes. I waited and waited and decided to power down. I turned it back on, and it didnt say Windows was not shut down properly, so i figured it was ok. However when I booted back up, I was going to eject and re-insert the upgrade CD. I hit eject, nothing happens. Hit eject again, nothing happens. I go to Computer to try and view the CD thats in my CD Drive....NOTHING SHOWS UP! MY CD drive is now UNRECOGNIZED by my computer! Now I cant complete the upgrade. Not to mention, the upgrade made me uninstall itunes and my virus protection, saying a new version will be installed automatically after the upgrade.

Second Drive Not Recognized With Win7 RC
I have an AMD 64 (single core) processor based machine. Â It recently became my 'second' PC for testing. Â Previously Windows XP Pro was installed an used for a few years. Â This PC has two IDE hard drives. Â THe system in on the first drive, the second is for data only. Â With XP this was, of course, no problem.
