Upgrade From Build 7048 To 7100 RC Fails
Currently running build 7048, I've tried numerous times to both upgrade to and do a clean install of build 7100 (RC). Both methods fails.

Build 7057 X64 Upgrade From 7048 X64 Fails ?
Can someone confirm that it's a general problem or have I just got a bad D/L. If I try and UPGRADE from Windows 7 build 7048 X-64 to Build 7057 X-64 it starts OK but after a while (during the expanding files stage) I get error -- some necessary files for installation cannot be copied ?? Clean install seem to wok. HA1 and checksums of my iso seem correct. Actually upgrading from a beta to another beta is not a goood idea anyway but I want to make sure that I haven't got a bad D/L before I try an upgrade from a Vista installation.

Upgrade From Build 7100 To Build 7264
I am currently running OS 7 Beta RC Build 7100. Were do I get this newer version, is there a big difference? And am I able to upgrade to the newer Beta? I realize that October is fast approaching for the RTM but I plan to keep running the Beta for a couple of months past the Grand Opening. Is it possible that all the updates that I have received equally add up to the newer build?

Build 7100 To Retail Upgrade
I have Vista x64 right now and I keep wanting to install the 7100 build beta that I downloaded a while back. I plan to buy the 3 pack of Windows 7 when it comes out but I am wondering if installing the beta build now will make upgrading harder down the road. Doing a clean install is just way to hard considering all the terrabytes of programs and data that I would have to either re-install or manually try to put back into it's original places. I know a lot of people preach that doing clean installs is so much better. In my experience this has never really helped. I have on numerous occasions done clean installs and they never did seem to work any better or any faster than the upgrades that I have had installed for years. The only time I think you need to do a clean install is if you have stability issues with your hardware causing your OS to go flaky or if you neglect your OS and leave all kinds of crap floating around on it. We have one machine running Windows 2000 since 2000 and it is used daily without any problems or corruption whatsoever.

Upgrade WIN XP Or Downgrade 7 RC Build 7100
I don't post often, but I do read a lot, and there is a lot of good info here. Background: I am running a dual boot Win XP (32 bit) and Win 7 RC 7100 (32 bit). I have the Digital River WIN Pro Upgrade (32 bit). I have read the UNAWAVE downgrade scenario from Ultimate to Pro and the WIN XP to WIN 7 PRO upgrade here. I am debating which OS to change. I really like the RC version and have been using it for quite a while. But since it is my main OS, I would hate to screw it up doing the downgrade as suggested by UNAWAVE. If I upgrade the WIN XP OS, I am not sure If I would still be able to dual boot between WIN 7 RC and WIN 7 Pro. If I do upgrade XP to PRO, would I be able to use WET to transfer my settings from RC to PRO. I am leaning towards the downgrade option, but wanted some more input from the "experts".

Vaio With Win 7 RC Build 7100 Upgrade To Release Version
I bought a Sony Vaio laptop with Vista and a promised upgrade to Windows 7 when officially released. To jump start, I installed Windows 7 RC Build 7100 from Microsoft over the shipped Vista OS. I just received the promised Windows 7 upgrade fulfillment from Sony but when I try to install it it tells me that Windows 7 is already installed (duh.) Is the RC based Windows 7 installation that I've built up over the last few months now junk bits or is there a way to use the serial number on the proof of license sticker on the fulfillment install disk Sony sent me and associate it with my current RC installation to make it legal and avoid any future trouble? I'd ask Sony but they haven't responded to anything else I've asked about so I'm not sure there are any actual people left in their "service" arm.

W7 RC Build 7100 - Backup Freezes At 7%
for the last week i've had issues with the native backup on Windows 7. IT gets to around 7% and then just freezes. The action centre flag keeps saying backup in progress, but i've left it all night and come back the next morning and it's still at 7% I've got a 500gb drive which I use for backups and other stuff and it's got enough capacity. I have deleted the old windows backup folder on it and still no joy. I look at 'show details' and all I get is yet another bigger progress bar with 'creating a shadow copy' as the only information. Do I have a corrupt file perhaps?

Build 7100 Aero Error
I just installed Windows 7 on my Sony VGN-BZ560. I have a very strange error. After a certain period of time and programs (which seems to be random) the window borders will disappear and it will become a strange blue. This is a stock install using the Intel 45 Graphics driver in the RC build. Anyone know any solutions? I've googled but come up pretty empty.

Uninstalling Win 7 Build 7100
I've been beta testing Win 7 from the beginning. I don't recall if I did an upgrade to my Vista Ultimate or if I did a custom new install. Are there any reasons why I can't simply revert to Vista Ultimate by using an Acronis Vista full backup that I saved to an external hard drive? I'll purchase Win 7 Ultimate sometime later this year. I'll probably go with the full version instead of the upgrade. It is the responsibility and duty of everyone to help the underprivileged and unfortunate among us.

Win 7 RC 7100 Build Video Freezes
I've been running windows 7 scene day 1 open beta and In the beta I worked all the kinks out for my system and did not have a problem running any video games or video issues. After I up dated to RC 7100 build I've had video issues and hole system lock ups. With the same hardware and setting of previous beta (for the most part.) Also switch from 64 bit to 32. I've run s video cable to my Tv and a DVi to my monitor. even if i disconnect one it still freezes. Watching computer System i'll get a quick CPU spike then it falls to the minimal resources then few seconds later the whole system freezes. An ALT+CTRL+ DEL is done and 3-5 minutes later they system will respond and resume back to normal. I've herd there is a Nvidia issue but I'm not sure this is the problem because my wifes laptop envcounters a simalar problem and she dosn't have a Nvidia card. This is very frustrating thing to keep happening. but it only happens when i run videos or video games. or using to many app's open. IE (firefox x3 Yahoo M. Email app. verius othere apps) that were all stable running in other OS. (and no it is not over heading my video card it stays at 116F about 45C at full use in video game that is monitored as well as CPU) updated drivers, re formatted to clear system and try alt drivers, Check IR and others for conflicting software and Hardware. *had switched out ram* it almost acts like a drain in memory but is not. ran tests and switched ram.

BSOD On Win7 X64 Build 7100
I've recently replaced my Win7 (7100) x32 with the x64 version in order to make use of more memory (not yet installed). However, although the rig I'm using had no problems in x32, it keeps BSODing in x64. Are there any commonly known reasons for BSODs in x64 when not in x32? I have all drivers installed, updated and seemingly working. I get a BSOD within about 20 mins of booting usually. No temp issues with CPU - all under 30 idle and BSOD isn't necessarily when the CPU is stressed. Specs: Quad Core 2.4 Q6600 Asus P5K Mobo Asus 8800GTX 2*1Gb Corsair XMS2

Build 7100, Constant 0x00000124 BSOD
I'm at my wits about this and for now, I will probably give up on RC1. Three, 32-bit installations have produced this stop error: 0x00000124: 0x00000000 0x85A7301C 0xB66D4000 0x00000135 I had it happen on my first installation, reinstalled it, and it happen over & over again. Thinking that I might have had a corrupt download, I downloaded and installed another copy. I thought I was through the woods, but it happened on this latest copy of Build 7100 several hours ago. And it can occur just sitting on the desktop, doing nothing (no running programs). Reading through past threads, this apparently is a common problem with Build 7100. Oddly, it seems that that the Beta versions did not have this problem. Two things that I'm thinking could be related: 1.) I have tri-boot system: Vista, XP, and Windows 7 are each on their own seperate HDD. 2.) My Phenom II 940 CPU & NB are both overclocked, but completely stable on XP & Vista.

No Networking - Media Disconnected - Build 7100
No networking on a fresh 64-bit RC1 (7100 build) install. Symptoms: Can't even ping the gateway. Ipconfig shows "media disconnected". The strange thing is if I unplug and plug back the Ethernet cable _sometimes _ I get a couple ping replies with very long delay TTL (~ 950ms). Exact same setup (NIC’s, router, cables) works just fine for the past couple of years with Vista 32-bit. I dual-boot between Win 7 and Vista. Troubleshooting: Downloaded the latest 64 Intel NIC drivers, changed NIC card configuration – speed, duplexing, etc… switched between DHCP/Static, switched NIC’s Intel/ Marvell. Setup: Asus P5NSLI mobo, Intel E6300 CPU, 4GB memory. Intel NIC, Marvell NIC. All works perfectly with Vista 32bit.  Any ideas?

Unidentified Network In Win 7 RC Build 7100
I am running WIndows 7 RC, build 7100 and since i have installed windows 7, i cannot get a internet connection through my router via a ethernet connection. It says "Unidentified Network: no internet connection" I can connect fine with wireless but i rely on the wired connection for downloads and such. I cannot find any solutions on the web, and the troubleshooter does not come up with any error/problems. I believe that it has something to do with not being able to identify the netwrok.

Audigy SB 1394 Driver Win7 Build 7100
I'm looking for a soundcard driver for my older Audigy SB 1394, using Win 7 Build 7100. I was able to get the sound working using Build 7000, but have been unsuccessful with the latest Win 7 Beta. I think I've tried five or six drivers, and none have worked. It doesn't appear that Win 7 is even recognizing that I have a soundcard, which could be the real problem. I tried moving the card to a different slot and running a hardware search, but nothing has worked.
