Black Screen When Using Multiple Display Adapters
2 graphics cards Nvidia GeForce 9600 (Primary) and Nvidia GeForce 6200, each with 2Â monitors connected.Windows 7 x64I have another black screen issue. It only occurs when I enable my second graphics card, if I do enable the 6200 all four displays go completely black but I still have the white mouse pointer functioning. The two monitors on the 9600 are fine if I disable the 6200 in Device Manager. I'm using latest drivers (9107) from Nvidia. After the initial Windows 7 install I did have all 4 displays working but they would keep freezing up for about 30 seconds, hence the reason I tried the latest drivers. They worked fine under Vista x64.I've found loads of threads on this but had no joy, most seem to suggest unplugging the addidtional monitors, sorry but that's not actually a solution! Some suggest a BIOS upgrade but it's a Medion PC and there are no upgrades for my model.Any help would be great as so far I'm finding Windows 7 much faster than Vista and am liking it. Update: I've removed and reinstalled the Nvidia drivers and now the symptons are like they were with the Microsoft supplied ones. I can get all 4 dislpays on, but the system then takes ages to logon and the display randomly freezes up (it still appears to be caching the mouse clicks and catches up when it unfreezes). Ctrl-All-Del and logging off and back on temporarily fixes this. The black screen comes back if I attempt to change anything under Display Properties or Nvidia Control Panel.

Multiple Display Swapping Support
On one of our workstations we were able to successfully install Windows 7, it is excellent, however there is a feature missing from the Display properties that was available in Vista. We need the ability to swap monitors assignments. Vista had an option to select which monitor was on the left, and which monitor was on the right. We have a 24 inch HP monitor we use as the main monitor on the right, and a 19inch Samsung monitor we use as a secondary on the left. While Win 7 does give the ability to choose which is the primary, it does not allow us to select which monitor is on the right or left of the other. Unfortunately Win 7 has detected the HP as the left monitor. With the desktop setup it's not a matter of just switching the physical placement of the monitors. We need the ability to select position as it was offered in our previous setup. Until we find a way to swap them, we will continue of course to use the RC, but hope this will be addressed in one of the service update releases before Win7 goes RTM. If anyone has seen a solution to this issue outside of 3rd party software such as ultramon, we would be interested in hearing from you.

Terminal Services Windows Won't Support A Second Display
Using build 7000, I've had the same result using the Citrix Web Interface to access a Server 2003 and the TS Web Access interface to access a Server 2008 box (no Citrix). In both scenarios, the session windows will only operate in the primary display. They will not maximize to fill both displays and they cannot be dragged between displays (the edge disappears as though the app were being pulled off-screen). I have an NVIDIA Quadro NVS 135M adapter, and have had the same results with driver prerelease - WDDM 1.1 and the one before that. If it's relevant, I'm using a Dell Latitude D630 with 4 GB RAM.On XP and Vista I didn't have this problem.I've tried a variety of settings in the nView Desktop Manager - including turning it off; no change. This is not a serious problem, but it would be nice to run my apps in my secondary display, which is much larger than the notebook's.

Intel 82945G Drivers / Support For Independent Dual Display
I can not seem to find a way to engage the Intel 82945G chipset in dual independent display mode, which worked natively in Vista. I have tried installing the Windows 7 Beta: As a fresh 32bit installation As a fresh 64bit installation, and As an upgrade to Windows Vista Ultimate 32bit version. where the display was fully functioning in dual mode. It seems none of the publicly available drivers for Intel 82945G integrated graphics chip that are Windows 7 compatible support the independent multi monitor mode. this includes: The Windows 7 Beta drivers supplied natively by the Microsoft install, The latest downloadable drivers from Intel: v7.14.10.1504), This is quite disappointing, as the native drivers used by Windows Vista, support dual independent displays, SEAMLESSLY. It appears as if this shortcoming has to do with WDDM 1.0 support vs. WDDM 1.1, although it isn't entirely clear to me if this is the case. SDVO (Serial Digital Video Out) or ADD2 Dual-Display Expansion Card in the PCI-Express slot 1600x1200 capable Viewsonic P95f+ CRT using 15pin VGA Cable 1680x1050 LCD widescreen using DVI Cable Please let me know if drivers (even beta or non-public versions) are available that support independent dual display mode, or if there is some way to enable the previous generation Vista drivers to manage the graphics shics chipset such that it supports independent dual displays.

Win 7 Freezes My Adsl Modem From Time To Time
This is a very weird network problem. I have an ADSL modem cum router (huawei mt882). I connect my windows7 laptop to it via an ethernet cable. My problem is that sometimes (like once every 20 min) my modem gets stuck. Its lights start blinking in a pattern i.e. link light will stay on for 1 sec then it will go off, then other lan lights will glow for 1 sec and then they will go off. This continues for a 30 or so seconds. All this while, internet connection is lost in all computers connected to the modem. The modem resumes normal functionality after 30 seconds. I am sure that the cause of this is win7 coz it doesnt happen when any other machine is connected to the modem. I also have ubuntu on this laptop and when i run ubuntu this problem does not occur.

Mouse And Keyboard Does Not Work From Time To Time
I already searched for threads here related to the mouse and keyboard not working. However, their issue is that their mouse and keyboard really don't work after installation. Mine however, is different. I have a Samsung Pleomax Keyboard and Mouse. (both USB) They do work after installation and for some time now. BUT there are times that when I restart my PC (not Shutdown and turn on again) the keyboard and mouse does not work. This happens only when I restart or open the PC for the first time on the day. Anyone having the same problem?

Win 7 Freezes Up From Time To Time
I have windows 7 ultimate x64, 2Gb of ram with all the latest updates. My AV is AVG free, Office 2007, I have Skype and I don't have any p2p apps running in the background. In fact I have a fairly 'clean' system, (no games for example). My system randomly freezes, it seems to be power related but it also freezes when I am typing/using the mouse. Sometimes it even freezes when I need to enter my password, at log in. I have run various applications, (memtest and so on), and my hardware seems to be running fine. I cannot find anything in any logs that tell me what could have caused the system to freeze, the only thing logged is the fact that I did a hard reboot. Is there anything I could do to check what froze or what caused it to freeze in the first place.

SCSI Adapters Not Supported
Prior to purchasing a Vista Ultimate to Windows 7 Ultimate upgrade for $220, I downloaded and ran the compatibility/upgrade adviser program and found no problems. While running the Windows 7 Install disk, the installation stopped dead with the message that I must update the driver for my Adaptec 29160N SCSI hard disk storage controller. However it could not find a newer driver than the one I am currently using under Vista, version 6.5.645.100, dated 1/31/2007. What is going on here?

Installing Virtual Adapters
Trying to install virtual adapters in Windows 7 is a nightmare. Since im lacy i have all my programs as ISO, but trying to install a virtual drive took a whole day (CloneDrive, partial works, but no drive will appear, but the autoluanch will trigger when double clicking the iso files). My next problem is even worse. I'm using Sonic Wall NetExtender to create the VPN connection to work. When trying to install the "SSL-VPN Netextender Adapter" the installation fails, since this is trying to make a virtual network adapter. It looks like Windows 7 is refusing to install any drivers for hardware that not exists in your "PC" is there any work around for installing virtual hardware?

Prioritize Network Adapters
Things are going quite smoothly here in 7 land, though I do have a question to ask. I have a Dell D600 laptop w/ docking station. Is there a way to prioritize the network adapters so that after using the computer wirelessly it defaults to the wired connection after docking it? Right now it still continues to use the wireless connection.

Network Adapters Issues
I'm running the 3-month trial of Windows 7 x64, and I've got way too many network adapters when I run ipconfig, yet when I go into the device manager I only see the defaults and the ones that I've installed (Hamachi, VMWare). How do I get rid of these extra adapters, or at least get them to not show in ipconfig? Laptop Ethernet Adapters - Some Only 32 Bit
Just be careful if you want to use X-64 version of Windows 7 and are connected via a WIRED LAN connection. A lot of laptops use the VIA VELOCITY gigabit ethernet adapters. These are mainly 32 bit and WON'T WORK on x-64 (including x-64 VISTA) VIA Velocity Gigabit Ethernet Controllers - VIA Technologies, Inc. Wireless usually works and you can use a PCI express adapter or a usb==>lan adapter in these cases. If you have a Networking card similar to those listed in the Via velocity link then don't even THINK about trying to find 64 bit drivers for these.

DirectAccess And VMWare Virtual Adapters
I have a functional DirectAccess setup. Windows 7 laptops are able to successfully connect to the corporate network anywhere in the world when they have an internet connection. Great so far! Some of the users also install VMware Workstation or VMware player on their laptops and at that point DirectAccess functionality breaks. I believe this is caused by the VMware virtual network adapters. When the laptops is started and these adapters are enabled the DirectAccess tunnel does not come up. At the same time you'll see in the "Network and sharing center" that windows tries to indentify the VMware network. When the VMware virtual network adapters are disabled the DirectAccess tunnel comes up shortly thereafter and I can successfully access the corporate network again. Has someone ran into the same issue and found a solution or workaround other then disabling the VMware adapters?

Physical Network Adapters Not Available In VPC
I did a clean install of Windows 7 64bit. Installed VPC 2007 and copied over some VHDs I had from my office computer (working from home now). I was able to successfully get internet connections from within my various VHDs (guest operating systems include Win XP, Vista and Window 7). I was running into the problem of losing TAB key functionality in the VPCs and I found that the problem was solved with the new Windows Virtual PC. I followed the instructions for converting/upgrading 2007 version VHDs to the new WVPC (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee706516%28WS.10%29.aspx). After following all of the instructions (including shutting down the converted VHD), I noticed that the only Network Adapters I have available in the VPC settings are "Not Connected", "Internal Network", and "Shared Networking (NAT)". My physical network adapters from my host are not showing. I have an Intel 82566DC-2 Gigabit Network Connection and I have a wireless adapter. I've double checked my host Local Area Connection and I have the Virtual PC Network Filter Driver checked. Despite trying various solutions for using Internal or NAT that I've seen in searches, I'm unable to get an Internet connection in the VPC. At best I can get a Local Only connection -- unless I connect my Host to my company's VPN. For some reason, once I do that I get an Internet connection in the VPCs. However, I don't want to have the VPN to my company on my host due to Internet monitoring and filtering. So, does anyone have any suggestions on how to get my host network adapters available on my VPCs so that I can get an internet connection?
