Support True Multi Monitor RDP Session (as A Server)
We're using 3 monitor setups with both portrait and landscape monitors.
I did initial testing of the new "true multi monitor" feature of RDP 7.
It worked great as long as I was connecting to either Windows Server 2008 R2 or Windows 7 Ultimate (both in trial versions). Based on additional research of microsoft websites that noted that true mutli monitor remote desktop connection is support by Windows 7 Professional, Ultimate or Enterprise, we have purchased 5 new computers with Win 7 Professional.
Now I'm trying to connect to Windows 7 Professional from Windows 7 Professional system and I can only get the RDC session on one monitor only. Quite frustrating.
I contacted both Dell and Microsoft but neither could tell me if Win 7 Professional can host true multi monitor session.
Did any of you try this? I'm trying to determine if it is Win 7 Pro limitation or some system setting that I'm missing?

Does the Windows 7 RC currently support multi-monitors? I am having trouble getting my nVIDIA 9800GT to show picture on my TV and I wanted to be sure that Windows 7 RC supports it before I go TS my video card.Owner, Quilnet Solutions

Multi-Monitor Taskbar Support
Any suggestions to deal with multiple monitors in Windows 7? I was using UltraMon in Vista and really liked what it did. With all the changes to the taskbar in 7, UltraMon has lots of issues. Is there anything new in 7 dealing with the taskbar (across multiple monitors)?

Where's The Extended Multi Monitor Support ?
I thought Windows 7 was supposed to have improved support for multi-monitor. OK, it's nice that each monitor can have it's own Cleartype and colour settings, but what about wallpaper and the taskbar. Tiled wallpapers always start from the primary monitor - not the left most monitor. As a result, it's impossible to have a panaorama image stretch across the desktop all the way from left to right, unless you have the primary monitor as left-most. The Taskbar only appears on the primary monitor. The new Snap options for positioning windows just don't work very well with multi-monitor. There seems to be no way of setting up a half-screen view if it isn't at the extreme left/right edge of the whole space. It'd be really nice to be able to (say) drag to a corner and have a half-screen view on that monitor.

Multi Monitor Support Using Nvidia Go 6100 Graphics Issue
When windows installed it found the drivers for the graphics from nvidia via windows update and everything operates as expected. When an external monitor is connected, the laptop display will turn off and the external will become the primary monitor, this happens regardless of the external monitor is on or off when connected. Additionally it happens on any monitor new or old connected and it does correctly detect and set the resolution and frequency for the monitor. In the Nvidia control panel it does not display the laptop display as existing and the only option for monitors is single display (no other options are shown). Using the windows monitor controls yeilds no different results, it simply acts as if there is no built in monitor at all. One other interesting quirk is that when the external monitor is disconnected the process will not reverse, the computer still acts as if it is connected and the laptop display remains blank. The only way I have found to reset it so that the laptop display can be used is to restart the computer after unplugging the display. Is this a driver/windows issue or a hardware problem? Any thoughts?

Printers Issue - RDP To Windows 2000 Terminal Server
When making an RDP connection to terminal servers running Windows 2000 server we find that all of our existing printer drivers are not recognized.  A Windows 7 RC client PC cannot print when RDP connected to our  terminal servers which are running Windows 2000 Server. When using any of the standard printer drivers that were operational under Windows XP or Vista, such as the basic “HP LaserJet 4” driver, they no longer work through terminal services.  Curiously these same printer drivers do properly work when RDP connected to a Windows 2003 Server…but not to a Windows 2000 Server.  The event log on the Windows 2000 terminal server shows no printer related entries at all when the Windows 7 PC makes the RDP connection.  The “printers” checkbox is checked but printer redirection is not working.  Additionally I installed the new virtual Windows XP mode package on this same Windows 7 PC and noticed that the virtual Windows XP mode session automatically added the same printers to the virtual XP mode session as exist on the Windows 7 PC without having to manually install any new drivers. And  when I RDP connect from the virtual Windows XP session to my Windows 2000 Server, the printers are properly recognized and useable in my terminal services session!  This seems to indicate that this is not simply a printer driver mismatch situation as the very same printer drivers match and work properly when connecting from the virtual Windows XP mode session running on the same Windows 7 PC.  I also manually disabled the new default Windows 7 policy “Execute print drivers in installed processes” but it made no difference.  Also, there is a significant performance hit when connecting to a Windows 2000 terminal server.  It looks like something is out of whack with RDP connections from a Windows 7 PC to a Windows 2000 server.Â

Dual Monitor RDP To XP Computer
I've searched the internet far and wide as well as these forums and have not been able to find the answer. Unfortunately, my sister-in-law's dog killed my 2nd monitor so I haven't been able to test on my own since installing the RC version last week. (new monitor will arrive next week) My question: If you RDP in Windows 7 from a computer with dual monitors to an XP computer with dual monitors is the multimon support available? I want the session to feel as though I'm at work with dual monitors.... not just spanning the 2 monitors. My work computer runs windows xp. Currently the only way to get this functionality in xp is to use the span command and to use add-in 3rd part software that does not work that great.

Monitor Resolution / Icon Location And RDP
Perhaps I'm blessed to be one of the lucky ones to have two 22" monitors (1680 x 1050) on my desk at work. I'm running Windows 7 RC 7100 on that box and as I work in IT there are many times where I use Remote Desktop to connect back in to my computer. Everything is great if the machine I use to connect back in to my desktop also shares the same screen resolution. However, if I use my laptop (1440 x 900) to connect into my desktop then the location of all the icons on my desktop get moved about in order to display them at the lower resolution...and that does not bother me.. What bothers me though is that when I get back to my desktop and login locally, even though I'm once again at 1680 x 1050 all the icons on the glass are squashed together as if I was on the reduced resolution. So...I have to go through the task of putting the icons all back where I like them...until I remote back in again which then moves them all about once again... Rinse and repeat...With the work that went in to the Taskbar and finally allowing people to "order" it as they like...it seems like this falls into that same category. It would be nice if RDP worked on more of a "virtual" desktop resolution. That way no matter what resolution screen I use to connect back to my desktop computer when I return there and sit down in front of it the icon locations have been preserved.

Performance Monitor Perfmon Save Settings / Session
In windows XP perfmon asked every time I wanted to close it if it should save the settings / session. In Windows 7 it says nothing and I see no way to save all the counters I've set up. There is an option to Save Settings but I see no option to load them back. Basically I want Performance Monitor to startup as I left him the last time. Any hints?

Taskbar For Each Monitor With Multi Monitor
Is there a possibility to have a taskbar on each monitor, optionally containing only the programs which are on that monitor? I doubt this feature is available as I just found the following entry within the support: "Find the taskbar" which is stating "If you're using multiple monitors, the taskbar will only appear on one monitor." So my suggestion is adding the feature. Plus showing the alt-tab-window on all monitors.

No Multi Physical Cpu Support
My system is a Asus L1N84 WS SLI FX74 This system has two physical processors on it. So its two dual cores making it 4 cores.(this is the main focus of this thread being started) I have had this system since vista was new. When I biult this system I ordered a copy of Vista Home Premium When I got it up and running I noticed that when I went to system info it said I had 2 processors. Well I called Asus and AMD and Microsoft. And all of them said that the reason I was seeing two processors is because I have two processors. Me not wanting to hear it did alot of research until I found one thing that told me I was just being told what they thought would get me off the phone with them. And I am having the same issue with Windows7 RC1 What I told them is that is not a good answer because my previous system said I had 2 processors and that system was an AMD 4200 X2 So it said 2 processors and it was just ONE dual core. Not to mention that this board got a horrible write up against Intel which caused AMD to trash the whole 4x4 idea. Bad for them because this is one hell of a system with all four cores running. Which were not running during those benchmarks against the Intel quad 6700 at the time. Remember I said I installed Vista Home premium. Well it turned out while I was searching Microsofts web site I looked at the differences between Vista Home premium and ULTIMATE. There was my answer staring me right in the face.... Ultimate was the only version that had MULTI PHYSICAL CPU SUPPORT! So I then purchased Vista Ultimate and checked the amount of processors in the system window and also In CPUZ . And there they were......4 processors... Needless to say that I quickly benchmarked it again on pcpitstop and 3dmark 06 and on pcpitstop my numbers doubled!!! Literally DOUBLED. Because now the other processor was being utilized. I add in here about the issue with the Intel benchmark just to say that this system is and was totally comparable to any intel system at that time and AMD scrapped it because of a faulty test!!! The sites that did their reviews were only running one of the dual cores which is why it was only slightly better then one FX 60 in there reports!! THIS is over DOUBLE and FX 60 with all 4 cores running! Anyway... Now to the issue about Windows7 ULTIMATE........ THEY didnt put that support in Windows7 Ultimate making it no good to use with a server board!! And now I have this OS in here and am only running on 2 cores AGAIN!!! What will microsoft do to fix this issue for all the people that want to run Windows7 in their servers boards INSTEAD of the new WINDOWS SERVER 2008? How do I get my processors to show up?? Anyone have any answers? The Microsoft technical support told me that they cannot answer that and I would have to call technical support after I purchase Windows7 and have the issues!! WHY WOULD I WANT TO PURCHASE IT WITH THIS ISSUE !!! ANYONE?? Help please? Microsoft? Just to clarify the post above for anyone that says it.... I have ULTIMATE . that IS the RC1. And it says 2 processors and cpuz which said 4 before I installed this NOW says 2!

Multi Language Support In Win 7
I'm planning to buy a new PC with Windows 7 (English) and not sure what version I should buy. I need to be able to switch into Japanese language mode for writing Word documents and composing/reading email sometimes. I do not need the desktop, menus etc. to be displayed in Japanese, however. I've found some info on the Internet and MS web site but still confused: 1) I have read that LIPs can be installed on any version of Win 7 but looks like Japanese must be installed as a full install (no parent language). If this is the case, can I setup 2 user accounts and configure one for English and the other for Japanese? 2) Do I need to have Win 7 Ultimate or Enterprise edition to do what I want to do?

N Trig Multi Touch Support
I was hoping for native support for my duosense(both ben and capacitative) Ntrig Display(came as part of my business Latitude XT2) to be natively supported by Windows 7 since one of the features advertised is the multitouch capabilities, and the Ntrig being the only capacitative touch tablet out there and Ntrig working with Microsoft. Of course, the only native support is single touch. Multitouch support is not native, its only for 32 bit and it doesn't support the pen feature. Now ... who can I complain to to get this working? LOL or how can I request for them to work on this.

Multi Monitor Wallpaper
i use a triple-head configuration with my center monitor specified as primary display. i have made some 3x Wide screen wallpapers, and i set them as the desktop backgrounds. it works fine with one caveat: the images left most border starts on the center display --the image is triple wide, but the right-most third wraps around the the left display. any ideas on how to properly center the image? i need the center display to be the primary as certain applications throw a fit when they are run on a non-primary channel.

Trying To Get Multi-Monitor Resolutions Set Up
I have been having a problem with trying to get Multi-Monitor resolutions set up. On XP my monitor setup is capable of 3360 x 1050; with 7 it automatically separates them and sets each resolution to 1680 x 1050, I would like to enable Span-extended desktop and have had no luck, CCC on XP allows this and on 7 the option simply isn't there. I was just wondering if I was overlooking something.

Multi Monitor Taskbar - Confirmed
I read recently that upon release, windows 7 will have multi-monitor taskbar support, which I'm very excited about. Is anyone able to confirm this, as it seems that they were already shipping Windows 7 when this news emerged. If I can pin programs to one monitor or the other, and have 2 "show desktop" buttons, then I'll be a very happy man.

Win 7 Multi Monitor Problem
As a partner, I installed 7Ultimate on my personal machine. I have a problem and I'm puzzled by the lack of any forum corresponding to 7 on the community website. These responses from Microsoft engineers have been very valuable in the past. If there is an appropriate forum, please route this question to it. I have four monitors installed in a 1,2 top and 3,4 bottom configuration. Monitor 1 is the primary and had the master toolbar at one time, (quicklaunch etc). It is still primary but the master toolbar has moved to monitor three which is left bottom and is not primary. Why did this happen and what can I do to fix it?

Multi Monitor Window Movement
I have connected 3 Monitors to my Nvidia graphic card. Only two are supported by the GPU at the same time. New with Window 7 (or the Win7 Nvidia driver) is the feature to automatically activate the display for usage with window, when I turn my connected monitors on. Thats cool. However I have some problems with the window placement. When a monitor is disabled and a window is placed still on this monitor, I cannot easily move the window to the active monitor. Yes, I know the Win-arrow-keys shortcuts, but in my eyes thats not intuitive. Suggestion: - Isnt it possible to allow dragging the small taskbar preview? Meaning if dragged the window will be placed where the mouse button is de-pressed (should work with or without Aero). - In the taskbar preview a small indicator for the display the window is located on should be given.

UAC Mess Up Multi Monitor Setup

My problem is this, sometimes when I perform an action that activates UAC, windows completely mess up my monitor setup, but primary goes black, and my tertiary (TV) becomes primary, the secondary stays the same. The only way to fix this is to reboot my system, and it's only sometimesDoes anyone have the same problem and/or a fix ?
