Cayman 3300 Series USB Broadband Modem
Windows 7 does not see my Cayman 3300 series USB broadband modem at all, even when it is the only USB device connected and no matter which USB port is used. When I try to load the drivers, even in Vista or XP compatibility modes, it cannot recognise that the modem is connected. The modem does not appear in the devices screen in Control Panel.

So, I have no internet connection under Windows 7 and therefore cannot easily participate in the Beta evaluation process.

I am using Windows 7 in dual boot mode with Vista Ultimate, in separate partitions. As I have no operational modem in Windows 7, this message and message viewing is done with Vista, so the modem works with no problems under Vista.

Dropping Mobile Broadband Using Live Mail
Recently installed Dell vostro Laptop - Windows 7 Professional - Windows Live Mail.

using a Verizon USB Mobile Broadband adapter - works great on the Internet, but when I try to use Live Mail for Gmail account, the connection keeps dropping.

When using the Internet to get google Gmail - all works perfectly.

It is just when using Windows Live Mail that I drop the broadband conection?

Dell Mobile Broadband 5520 & Xps M1330
I can't get the vista drivers and application to install properly (the MSI installer won't complete and does a rollback, but doesn't say why it has failed).  I can get the drivers to install manually but the application still won't install or run.  Has anyone managed to get this hardware working under WIndows 7 Beta (7000)?

The hardware is the Dell Mobile Broadband Card 5520 (Novatel Expedite EU870D) on the m1330 platform. I am trying to install the generic version of the application which works just great under Vista.

On a positive front, this is the only hardware I can't get working and so far the Win7 beta seems very solid and impressively fast.  Congratulations Microsoft!  I can't wait for the final release..

Huawei E156g Mobile Modem Freezes
Huawei e156g Mobile Broadband USB Stick

HP Pavilion dv7 2070ea

Windows 7 Professional 64bit

The laptop came preinstalled with Vista Home 64bit and i was able to use the mobile broadband without any issues.

I have installed Windows 7 Pro 64 in a dual boot config and it runs fine on wired or wireless connections, but when i try to use the mobile broadband i run into issues.

After the modem driver and software install and a few restarts I was able to get all the devices in the device manager to be happy, and i was able to connect via the 3 Connect software and access the internet. But after a few minutes Windows will inevitably lock up, regardless of what program is being used. The screen will freeze, there will be zero harddrive activity and the only course of action is to hold down the power button

The mobile broadbands company site says that the vista drivers should be happy on windows 7, but something isnt happy.

I really need to resolve this as my mobile broadband allows me to connect to various servers for work via its allowed IP address.

Is this the modem, the USB bus or something else?

I have checked the event log and there isnt anything useful in there.

USB Wireless Broadband Not Stopping
I use a WCDMA USB to connect to the net and when I wish to remove it Windows7 treats it as a CD Drive (Eject) but wont stop the usb from running, I have to turn the computer off to remove the USB device (ordinary USB drives are treated normally).

Have tried opening devices to remove but still no good.

I am trying Windows7 RC 7100.

Have a laptop with Core 2 Duo, 320GB HD, 2GB DDR2ram, ATI Radeon HD 2600.

Casio Exilim Mobile C721 Usb Driver
Have casio exilim mobile and tried to install driver on RC and the current release of Ultimate 64. It goes to end of install then says "Before setup, eject device from PC". It then uninstalls the driver and says "setup was interrupted and not completed. To install at a later date run setup again."

The exilim is not connected to the computer currently in any way. I have tried 3 different compatibility modes including xp sp2, vista and 2000. I have selected run as admin for each. I have attempted to disable my usb root hub and have gone to only having the keyboard connected via USB, nothing else. Same message.

Install worked on Vista ultimate 64 w/o a problem.

USB Connected Remote With Mobile Device Center Virtual Vista
My host OS is Windows 7 RC.I created a Windows Virtual PC install of Vista SP1.I enabled USB support within the virtual Vista SP1.A USB connected thumb drives shows up in both Windows 7 and virtual Vista SP1.When I connect my remote control via USB, it shows up under the USB menu as:  Unidentified Device     AttachI select "attach" and the virtual Vista SP1 system tray shows the "safely remove hardware" icon.

However, Windows Mobile Device Center (WMDC) never sees the remote (which is required for the remote software to access it). WMDC reports "Not Connected."The remote control I am using is a Nevo Q50 and I am trying to download updates to it via NevoStudio Pro 2.0.

This works if I reboot into a non-virtualized Vista SP1...seems like I should be able to get this to work in a virtual Vista SP1 if the USB support is working.Am I missing something or is this a known bug?

High Speed Mobile Internet (HSDPA Via USB) Unusable Due To Unreliability
it seems as if (a fully up-to-date) Windows 7 has a massive problem with high-speed mobile Internet connections (3G HSDPA) via modems connected to USB ports - and I really, really need to get this fixed :-)

I have two very distinct devices which are affected:

* Nokia E71 (a modern HSDPA-capable 3G UMTS mobile phone) - self-powered, connected via USB
* (Vodafone) Huawei E172 (a dedicated 3G UMTS mobile broadband USB adapter) - system-powered (laptop), connected via USB

Symptoms:

After having successfully established an Internet connection, any amount of serious downstream load will result in

* stop of downstream TCP/IP
* the connection "hanging" (which materializes in TCP/IP disconnects due to timeouts later on)

The devices themselves show symptoms similar to a hardware-level USB disconnect - it is extremely puzzling, though, that the TCP/IP stack apparently did not receive any indication of any problems.

Trying to cleanly disconnect the TCP/IP connection via the Networking Centre (right-click -> disconnect) will result in a long wait (20-30 seconds?), with the Networking UI hanging partially during this time.

Affected system:

* Windows 7 (32bit) Enterprise
* Lenovo T61 with 4 GB of memory (up-to-date with Lenovo Windows 7 RTM drivers / software / BIOS)

Steps necessary to reproduce for me, and two additional people (those on a Lenovo T500 and Windows 7 (64bit), exact system parameters unknown):

* fresh install of Windows 7 Enterprise (32 bit)
* install latest "Nokia Ovi 2.0" software (ships with modem "drivers" - largely an INF file, I believe)
* connect Nokia E71 device
* create dial-up connection (providers tested: O2 and Vodafone in Germany)
* dial-up
* put massive downstream load onto system, e.g. multiple Youtube streams or parallel downloads via a download manager to a source which does deliver (and make sure that your network delivers as well).

[To reproduce with the Huawei E172, use the simplest steps to go online, using, e.g. Huawei's Mobile Partner software and/or a Vodafone-branded software both of which will install a USB/Serial-interface into the data card]

I cannot stress enough the importance of downstream load - please verify with sustained loads of 300 kiloBYTE/s (KB/s) for extended periods of time (say over the course of 1 GB, although 50 MB volume have sufficed so far to reliably produce the disconnects). A Nokia E61i (which has only UMTS 3G capabilities with 384 kiloBIT/s downstream) seems to do fine.

Note: In the locations I perform tests, the 3G UMTS networks deliver sustained data rates (via HSDPA) of up to effective 470 KB/s (7.2 MBit/s cells). As "serious" (as in HSDPA) UMTS coverage in Germany is common, this might have a major impact, e.g. for Windows 7 Netbooks.

Finally, please allow me to speculate that any / all *high-speed* data transfer over the USB-Serial-layer is affected by this issue. What worries me most is the misbehaviour of the Nokia E71, which is self-powered and has a "driver" that should be very low in complexity (I can only see usbser_lowerflt.sys as being owned by Nokia)

This behaviour of Windows 7 makes this a critical regression for me - a fully patched Windows XP worked flawlessly on that very hardware (laptop / BIOS / USB devices); this specific Huawei E172 additionally is known to work flawlessly on my desktop system, using a fully patched Vista installation.

Note: There are additional, independent reports of this issue on the Internet - try searching for reports on (frequent) disconnects in relationship with HSPDA / USB and Huawei / Nokia devices.

USB ZTE Modem Driver
I have a problem, with a USB modem, the  USB ZTE modem, Type MODEM 3G multi-mode, GSM / GPRS / EDGE / WCDMA / HSDPA. This device is not identified by the system. As you plug it in, nothing happens because windows doesn't recognize it at all as a modem. The driver doesnt work.

I supose It will need a brand new driver in order to work. So Microsoft windows 7 developers, wake up and begin to work on a solution. This kind of modems are getting more and more used.

Huawei E169 USB 3g Modem Driver
I can't get my Huawei 169 modem to function in Windows 7, I've tried both build 6801 and 6956 -same result

As soon as I plug the modem in Windows 7 recognizes it as a usb disk, I can access the disk and launch the on board installer. I've downloaded the latest driver from the Huawei site, but the installer fails with the error "can't find any modem"

If I do a hardware scan in the device manager only the usb disk turns up, but not the modem.

I'm using this modem on this laptop in both WinXP and OSX without any problems, so the modem and PC is allright...

Is there any special windows 7 services that I need to start?

ZTE USB Modem Drops Connection
My ZTE USB Modem connects to my service provider and I can launch IE to a home page, however after just a few seconds it disconnects and then shows there is no signal to connect to although before it showed 4 1/2 bars of signal.

If I click disconnect, wait for it to time out then close the Modem software and then relaunch it it shows signal again, connects, then disconnects a few seconds later.  This modem worked fine on Windows XP SP3 and Vista.

Remove USB Modem Cause Blue Screen
Whenever I am in the process of shutting down Windows 7 and if I removed the USB modem(ADSL) cable, Windows 7 crashes with blue screen(some times system simply gets turned off without proper shut down).This happens only during the shut down process, If I removed USB cable any other time there is no problem. I've not tried removing any other usb devices during the shut down process.

I will try later to see if this is problem only with USB modem or all USB devices.I am using HP 2133 Mini Note with VIA C-7 processor 1.2Ghz, 2 gb RAM. Has anyone else faced this problem? Please let me know if there are any fixes/workaround to this problem.
