Regular Cataclysmic Sound Failures In Asus Onboard Sound

After installing windows 7x64, the sound initially worked. Then I noticed that during any audio playback the sound would pop and crack regularly.

Now on occasion, the audio will work with popping and cracking for a while, and then have a cataclysmic failure errupting in massive static before it stops working all together.

Sound works with popping and cracking again after a cold boot, but the problem repeats every few days.

I am using an Asus M2N-Plus SLI Vista Edition Motherboard which uses the C-Media 6501 on board sound-card
The problem is not changed by using headphones, or using the case front head-phone jack

Attempted to use Vista x64 drivers, which do not work,
Neither Asus nor C-Media have released updated drivers for windows 7x64 for this card

Does anyone know of a set of drivers that work? or a way to work around this?

Enabling Onboard Sound With A Sound Card
I fly MS FSX and I want to be able to chat to ATC with my headphones and then hear the engine noises coming out of my speakers and sub-woofer.

I have a sound-card and my motherboard has on-board sound. I can't find the bios setting to turn it on and I can't see any hint of it anywhere on the computer. Can someone help me get the on board sound going? My computer is homebuilt, I recently installed Windows 7 pro 64bit.

Sound Drivers For Conexant AC 97 Onboard
hardware id: PCIVEN_1002&DEV_4370&SUBSYS_30AE103C&REV_02

which means it's onboard a cheapo xpress 200m board on an hp laptop.

Everything else works just fine, but the sound has been missing, I thought AC 97 audio was common.

To digress, I have tried auto online updates, backwards compatibility installs with previous vista and xp versions of the driver, and manually installing the driver from an extracted conexant ac97 driver file.  Nothing works.  Maybe it's because I have a rarer ac97 device?  I've tried realtek solutions as well but to no avail.

Any solutions?

Sound Drivers, Creative And Onboard AC97 Won't Work
I have onboard SiS AC97 audio and a Creative Sound Blaster Live! 24bit.  Using Windows 7 RC, I can't get either of them to work.  They both give a "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)".  I have tried every driver that I could find for both of them.  Nothing seems to work.  Is there are any known bugs that cause this?

No Sound On Asus P5LD2 SE
I have a PC. It is Asus P5LD2 SE. [motherboard? I don't know much about computers]

I am running Windows 7 Professional. There is no sound on it. To my knowledge sound comes from modem/motherboard; I have speakers but no sound-card. Sound worked on Windows XP until I went to Win 7 about a week ago. I have done updates etc. I have even gone to the Asus site and have looked for drivers for my motherboard number that are compatible with Win 7. My number is not in the extensive list.

Interestingly, I dual booted with Ubuntu today and in the Ubuntu box the sound is fine.

In another thread someone asked for the device numbers. They are:

HDAUDIOFUNC_01&VEN_11D4&DEV_1986&SUBSYS_1043818F

HDAUDIOFUNC_01&VEN_11D4&DEV_1986&SUBSYS_1043818F&REV_1005

As a long-shot I downloaded the Asus driver with the closest number to mine. That didn't work.

Should I give up on drivers and get a sound-card? If so which one should I get for my system?

Asus M2V HD Sound Problems
The default win 7 HD driver installs fine but only detects the S/PDIF-out & not the speaker outlets, which means no sound. There seams to be no place to change this.

Uninstalled Microsoft driver & installed latest Realtek HD driver, restarted & had sound.

When I turned the computer on the next day, windows replaced the Realtek driver with the Microsoft HD driver & no sound, back to square sound.

Uninstalled Microsoft driver & installed latest Realtek HD driver, restarted & had sound.
Renamed the INF file for the Microsoft HD sound driver.

(1) I then turned the computer off & back on (power Off). You guessed it no sound. Windows 7 had disabled the Realtek driver & under device manager, my audio device appeared as an `unknown device' with no driver. I then clicked on update driver, pointed to the dir containing the Realtek driver, where upon windows said that it could not confirm if this is the right driver, I said continue, windows started to install the Realtek driver, & what do you know I got the blue screen of death. after which windows restarted. I repeated this with anti-virus disabled, using compatibility mode, using the previously install driver, all resulted in the BSOD.

(2) Next thing was to uninstall the unknown device (my audio device), uninstall the Realtec drivers, restart, enter Bios, disable the onboard audio & restart. I then shutdown & turned off the comp. Turned the comp back on, checked device manager for any unknown devices (none). restarted, enter Bios enabled onboard audio & restarted. Under device manager, my audio device appeared with other multimedia device, with no driver installed. Ran the Realtek audio installer, restarted & had sound. I then turned the computer off & back on (power Off).

You guessed it no sound I was back to where I was at (1). Under device manager I disabled windows ability to search online for drivers & then repeated (2) with same result. I have repeated this with different versions of the Realtek driver.

how do i stop windows disabling my audio device, every time the computer is shutdown & power is turned off. (The audio works perfectly in XP)

ASUS P5RD1-VM Sound Not Working
As the title says, my sound is not working. I installed Windows 7 onto a seperate partition of my hard drive, and have a bootloader to go between 7 and XP. I'm using the on-board sound with my ASUS P5RD1-VM motherboard, and when I've gone to Device Manager, the listed device for sound is "High Definition Sound Device". I tried searching for updated drivers and disabling/re-enabling the device, and still nothing. When I boot my computer into XP, the sound works fine as it always has.

No Sound On Asus P5WD2 Premium
I've installed the RC on my computer, everything works great except I get no sound output at all. It shows that it's connected and playing sound, I can see the green volume bars jumping around but no output. It even shows the front green jack as connected and disconnected when I take the headphones out.

I've tried the original bundled drivers with the RC, the old Vista 32bit sound driver from my mobo website, and the Realtek 2.29 driver. All have no luck at all.

I'm using the 7100 32-bit build.

System Specs are:

Asus P5WD2 Premium Mobo

Newest BIOS

Drivers as above.

Waiting for the new 2.30 to become available but apart from that does anyone else know of anything with this board?

On reading through everyone else sound problems, Asus motherboards prop up a hell of a lot! I'm not majority worried too much about the sound at the moment and I know it's an RC so can't have everything!

Sound Card Asus A6JC
my notebook is Asus a6jc. It seems to work well with Windows 7, but i have one problem.

Sound card seems properly installed, but it doesn't work at all.

I installed driver automatically, no sounds.

I went to asus site, and downloaded vista 32-bit driver, no sounds.

Installed in compatibility mode, no sounds.

Uninstalled automatic driver and then installed driver downloaded by asus site, or driver agent site, but still no sounds.

Now Windows 7 has the driver version: 6.1.7600.16385 provided by Microsoft.

System sees audio working properly (when i play test sounds, i see sounds meter moving, but no sounds exit from speaker or earphones). any suggestion?

ASUS P5Q SE PLUS Sound Not Working
I'm running Windows 7 RC 64 bit. I can't get the on-board sound to work. I went to the ASUS website to download their drivers for Windows 7 64 bit and tried to install. Failed the first time since Windows 7 doesn't allow unsigned drivers. I did a workaround (I forget the exact process but I just looked up on google how to allow unsigned driver installation).

Tried to install again and it wasn't blocked. But on-board sound still doesn't work. I do have a separate sound card plugged in that does work but I prefer using the headphone jack on the front of my case which only works with the on-board sound.

There is other software that I use with my motherboard (displays temperatures, fan speeds, etc.) that I haven't tried to install yet.

It's really annoying having to find 64 bit versions of all the software I use. Some x86 programs work fine like mp3tag which works great (and really benefits from the extra ram that a 64bit system allows). O&O defrag doesn't and I had to find a 64-bit version.

Asus P7p55d Sound Drivers
I have a problem with my sound drivers. I have win 7 pro 64bit and the sound drivers are a huge problems. When windows start sound doesn't work. The only solution I have found to that problem is installing the drivers and not rebooting since this makes sound work until I shut down the pc. After that when I boot sound disappears again. The drivers are the latest from asus website.

Answer:-

The only thing I can tell you is to uninstall the drivers. Then run one of those registry cleaners like CCleaner so it will delete the residue from the REGISTRY. Next look in the hardware list for the sound device...if still listed after uninstalling and then delete it from the list. Reboot and Windows will detect it as new hardware...from there it will of course try to install drivers on its own...that's when you redirect it to the official drivers for your hardware.

That's all I can tell you would normally work for me. If you have the original system drivers...I'd go with those then do an update.

good luck

ps: once you get it fixed...i strongly recommend you use one of those driver back up software programs...I do that myself because they will allow you to reinstall previous drivers rather than do an entire system restore.

Asus M51va - Sound And Driver Issues
I recently installed Windows 7 Ultimate (clean install) on my M51va notebook, and it's screamin' along nicely. Only two issues are this:

One – I keep getting the hardware disconnect sound at irregular intervals even when just writing an email or whatever. It must be a bug somewhere, but I have no idea how to troubleshoot it. Anyone heard of this as an issue?

Two – I have one issue in my Device Manager, but can't seem to figure out what's not working. The dvd drive does hang occasionally, so I'm suspecting its that despite there showing a driver there, but there're two items called Base System Devices that are marked as being a problem (see screengrab here ).

I figure this is because I don't have all the Asus stuff installed on here anymore, but does anyone know what it might be or how to find an update?

Could it be possible the two issues are connected?

Problem With Sound Rippling On ASUS P5VD2-MX
There i have on-board audio SoundMax (Analog Device) and external board Creative SB Live 5.1 Digital.

Both have rippling sound.

Setting up drivers in compatible mode was not helpful.

Setting up free KXproject (non Creative) drivers for SBLive was not helpful.

So i think that this problem is problem of VIA chipset compatibility with W7.

ASUS official site have not any driver for VIA chipset even for WVista and XP.

Asus P5GDC Pro Sound - Driver Does Not Work

Automatic installation of High Definition Audio Device fails and it fails each time I try to unninstall the driver and let windows install it again. I tryed some UAA drivers from Vista, but after installing it behaves like I have not installed anything.

On Win XP I was running C-Media High Definition Audio driver and it worked without any problems. Now it shows "This device cannot start. (Code 10)"

Also in system tools my High Definition Audio controller shows (This device cannot find enough free resources that it can use. (Code 12) If you want to use this device, you will need to disable one of the other devices on this system. You need to restart your computer before the changes you made to this device will take effect) , but its displayed twice there and the other one works fine.

ASUS P5PE-VM Drivers For Graphics And Sound Card
I need some compatible drivers for Win7 Beta 32bit. I'm running an ASUS P5PE-VM and need drivers for my graphics card and onboard sound card.

Graphics card is an older NVIDIA GForce 3 TI (AGP), the onboard sound is a SoundMAx. The Action Center lists it as a SoundMax Integrated Digital Audio (TCSUS_CH5) F5410AMR

I wanna make sure to get the correct drivers. My driver disc that came with the mobo wont install the sound drivers because it doesnt recognize the OS. Windows update doesnt list any NVIDIA drivers. I installed DriverMax which worked great for a lot of the system drivers.

It does list drivers for the soundcard but its listing shows drivers for realtek and analog devices incorporated which I believe soundmax used to be, or vice-versa. that and there was quite a lot of drivers to choose from. I just wanna get some sound!

Asus A6JC Laptop Sound Driver Problem
I installed Windows 7 RC on my Asus laptop and the sound driver installed by Windows during the installation didn't work. So I went to the Asus website to get the driver. After installing it, my sound card worked fine.

But here comes the problem: when I restart Windows, I see the "Starting Windows" screen, and then nothing, the boot animation isn't dispayed and the HDD stops loading.

The strange thing is that I can boot several times before it crashes, and the same driver worked fine on Vista and the beta.

Here is my config:

 -Asus A6JC laptop
 -Intel Core Duo 1.6GHz
 -1GB RAM
-all I know about the sound card is that it is a Realtek

Any idea about what I can do, or where I can find driver that work?
