Side By Side Configuration Error In Win7 RC X64
I have an app that we develop in house using a run time supplied by a company called Micro Focus.

I can successfully run this app in Vista/XP/2000 (x86/x64). For some reason when running it in a brand new copy of Windows 7 RC x64 though, I get a message that the app failed to start since it's side by side configuration was incorrect.

I've done some searching and some suggestions were to reinstall the Visual C++ 2008/2005 redistributables. So I tried both of those in the x64 and x86 versions, and got the following error (copied from event viewer):

Product: Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable -- Error 1935.An error occurred during the installation of assembly

So I guess two things:

1: Any suggestions to get the side by side error to go away

2: If your suggestion is to reinstall the VCR, any suggestions to fix the error I get during the install?

Side By Side Error
I make a small application on Windows 7 with Visual Studio 2008. With Win7 Beta I had no problems, but after upgrading (new clean install) to Win7 RC, the debug version of my application doesn't start anymore. The release version has no problems.

When I try to start the debug version the following error is shown (I get it in german, but I this is more or less the translation): "Application failed to start becasue side-by-side configuration is incorrect".

I know this error, when someone trys the application and some libs (MFC) are not installed. But I never got this error on my development machine.

Place Windows Along The Side Of The Screen
I see that W7 has some functionality that wants to place an open window against one of the sides of the screen. I have a need to push a non-maximized window past the edge of the screen. How do I turn this "auto-align feature" off (sorry, don't know what it's actually called).

Partition Not Showing Up In Computer On Left Side
*Insert token disclaimer about not knowing if this is the correct forum for this* It looks like it so I'll go with it.

I've got a problem that popped up the other night when I decided I wanted to restore my system to a previous time due to a BSOD I received and had a feeling it was due to CCleaner.

Regardless, I'm now unable to see my E: drive, as shown in the screenshot, on the left side of Explorer under Computer. It shows up fine in the main window there but not on the side. I can't even rename it, I had it named previously.

Any ideas?

Right Side Of Screen Is Cut Off (black Bar)
I installed Windows 7 and have a little problem with the screen. My monitor doesn't display the whole screen, it gets cut off on the right side. I tried to strech it horizontaly through the controls on my monitors, but it's not that, it's still cut off. Updated to latest video drivers (I have a 9800GT) and that's not it either, tried with diffrent resolutions, but whichever resolution I change to the right side is still cut off.

The funny thing is when I make a screenshot (with print screen) and paste into paint the image is whole, it shows the part that I don't see on my monitor. Under this is a link to a screenshot of my desktop, I drawn a black line for ilustration so you can see which part is cut off, the right side of the line doesnt display on the pc. If someone has a solution for this please write. My monitor is Hyundai Q770 (CRT), and the GPU is Gygabite 9800GT.

Dual Monitor Snap-to-side Bug
I have two monitors and I can only use the outer boundaries for making Windows go to half the screen size, look at this image for explanation. I know that this whole feature is not as important to dual monitor users but I think it should work correctly anyway.

Mouse Pointer Goes Out Of Boundaries On Right Side Of Screen
On my Windows 7 RC on the top right hand corner of the screen the mouse pointer will go way off the screen, where the other corner it stops at the edge. This is bad when you are trying to scroll using the bar as the pointer will slip off the screen. Anyone else ran into this yet. Other than this, Windows 7 is a rock solid and fast operating system that I really enjoy.

I opened my Lightroom 2.5 program and my pictures are really screwy looking. IS THERE A WAY TO EXPAND THE SCREEN TO FIT THE ENTIRE MONITOR---hope this isn't a stupid question, I searched long to try and figure this out.

Thumbprint Scanner And Buttons On Side Of Screen Quit Working
I recently installed Windows 7 on my HP Tablet computer and ever since I did that the program for the fingerprint scanner didn't upgrade or download. Also when I rotate my computer screen to lay flat, to write on the screen, the screen will not rotate. There is a button already installed on the computer to rotate the screen however that button is not working either.

The buttons used to play, pause and switch songs are still working but the buttons on the front for other programs are not working. I have tried searching for a fingerprint scanning program and ways to fix the buttons that are not working but to no avail. My computer is an HP Pavilion tx2635us and is now in the Windows 7 setup not Windows Vista.

Running Programs Icons Doesn't Stick
I have searched for similar problem into the forums and I wasn't able to find it. The problem found is as follows: I'm testing Windows 7 RC in Spanish joined to a domain, login as network user that has all privileges on local machine.

I have a running icon for an AntiVirus (McAfee VirusScan 8.7i spanish) that doesn't appear per default in taskbar. If I click on the arrow to bring the pull down that has the rest of applications running and click on customize and choose for that icon that I want to see it permanently (See icon and notifications) the icon appears and sticks.

If I shut down or reboot the system, next time I log-on that icon doesn't appear stuck on taskbar and I have to repeat the operation. That occurs every time I log to the system.

Any ideas to solve it?

Running Programs Won't Show Up On Taskbar
I'm running 64-bit Windows 7. Last night my computer was fine, and I just booted up today to find that whenever I run programs, they don't show up on the taskbar. I have two monitors, one is my laptops screen and the other an external one. If I drag the applications to my laptop screen, they show up on the external screen, but if they are on the external screen, they don't show up at all.

The external is set to my main display.

Any ideas on what's going on?

Not sure if anyone's reported this yet, but I did a clean install of 7077 on my backup computer and anytime I start an application download and select "run" from the download menu, it downloads the program but will not start it, I have to go back and save the file, and run the .exe from there.

Anyone else run into this and found a fix?

Most 32-bit Programs Won't Run In RTM
I've been using Win7 since the beta, and not once have I had this problem 'till now (and I've used builds 7000, 7100, 7229, and 7260 without issues).

But starting with build 7600.16384 (I have the RTM now (7600.16385)), I've been having trouble getting 32-bit programs to work. At first they were slow to start--now they won't start at all. Originally I could work around it by running them apps as Admin w/compatability for Vista SP2, but now even that doesn't work.

64-bit apps startup fine (Photoshop, IE8, any built-in app, etc.), but anything 32-bit will just sit in the Task Manager all day, with the memory usage never above 3-4MB, and simply fail to start. No error messages, no abrupt termination, just nothing. The only exceptions have been FL Studio 8 and Steam (but Steam games won't run), both of which run perfectly despite being 32-bit.

I can only last so long using IE and not being able to play any games.

Some Programs Won't Run/install, Explorer Slow, Ect.
It was all fine until yesterday. I copied over a game from my laptop the night before (I just installed 7 on this computer recently, was copying over stuff from my laptop) and also finished installing World of Warcraft and not long after I turned off the computer.

The next day I switched it on and didn't notice anything at first but some programs wouldn't run (Winamp would have a blank space where the music list normally is).

I tried installing some virtual drive programs such as magic disc and power iso which I usually use for isos I rip onto the computer (I lost some discs before so I've been doing that recently) but the magic disc programs wouldn't run properly and power iso wouldn't progress during its installation.

I tried installing some anti spyware like AVG and Avast (Spyware doctor detected 300 odd tracking cookies that appeared in the past week I installed, way more than it did with my vista laptop) but they would just either not respond (and then pop up with a message saying it took a while and wouldn't respond) or just not even progress when it was installing (on the part where it begins putting down files)

Explorer itself is slow and takes a while to load when on "My computer" and usually wouldn't display USB drives. Once it did but it didn't actually open it up when I clicked on it and prevented the window from responding.

I have used task manager to close all these down when they wouldn't.

When I tried switching off my computer it just stayed on the logging off/shutting down screen. I tried leaving it overnight, expecting it to finally switch off but it only ende up going into sleep mode (and popped up with the log in screen when I waked it up)

I have switched the computer off and on a few times but its still the same.

I also got the disc I used to install and tried to repair it but it wouldn't boot from the disc when I switched on the PC and when I opened it up and ran the setup file, it came up with the usual "are you sure you want to run this" dialog and didn't do anything.

Touch Screen Issue: Touch Recognized On Wrong Side Of Screen
So I have a small 10" touch screen  as a secondary screen and it is recognized and installed when I plug it in the computer.

My problem is that the actual touching is severly misplaced and I can not use the calibration tool (Tablet PC Settings in control panel) to correct this problem.

It is as if the vertical and horisontal inputs of the screen has been swapped. If I touch the right side on the screen and drag my finger to the left I can see the cursor go from the top to the bottom and if I touch the top and drag down the cursor goes from the left side of the screen to the right side of the screen.

Installing the drivers from the manufacturer of the touch controller, http://www.eeti.com, did not help at all. It just says there are no touch controllers connected to my computer.

Is there a way I can correct this problem?

Theme Reverting After Running Programs
So I downloaded a bunch of wallpapers to get a nice shuffle going on. Went into personalization and checked everything I wanted to get shown in the shuffle and saved it as its own theme.

The problem is that after I run programs (games, mostly - usually L4D, but just five minutes ago, Oblivion as well) the theme will have somehow switched to a new, unsaved and modified theme that is just fixed on whatever background I had up before running the program.

It's really just a minor annoyance, as I I just have to right click->personalize and select my saved theme again, but still - anyone know why it would be messing with my shuffle custom theme?

Explorer Not Displaying Running Programs In The Taskbar
After an in-place upgrade to Windows 7 RC I noticed, that the taskbar does not display buttons of running programs - at all! As I am writing this, I have IE and several other programs open, but none of them is displayed in the taskbar - neither maximized, nor minimized.

It is not that I just do not see them, because they are just icons, nit even when I try to run several instances of IE - the launch button does not change in any way (it is supposed to show "stacked" buttons for each of the instances, well, nothing happens). I'd like to know, wether there is someone facing a similar problem, or if there is a solution for this.

Internet Security Blocking All Programs From Running
In a recent update for the RC, windows now blocks all programs, i have too run the programs twice for them to work. First, it pops up a screen telling me

"This files cannot be opened The internet security configuration avoided the excecution of one or more files"

The thing is, that one of this files, is even .net Framework 3.0, which it shouldn't be blocked.
It tells me that it's an issue with the internet configuration, but i don't even use IE8. It just blocks all the applications that connect to the internet.

I've had enough of this issue and i really want an explanaition and a fix. I would post a screenshot, but my windows 7 RC its a spanish one.
