trying to make a SD card be read on the PC it is built into the computer, and when plugged in the light goes red, indicating of course, that something is in there, however no option shows up to change files, we have tried with the lock switch, both ways...and still no luck, it also DOES NOT show up under computer, the pc is running windows 7 home premium.

View 3 Replies View RelatedYesterday I updated my and my wife's iPhones to 5.01 -- now that is a nightmare story in itself. I could never get it to work on my PC -- simply would not install the mobile device drivers no matter what I tried. I was able to update both phones on another Windows 7 PC we have.Now, when the original PC detects my iPhone and pops up autoplay it has the device name for my wife's phone. The phone itself shows that it is configured with the correct name.Where does Windows 7 pull the device name from? It has the wrong name in the device properties General tab but even though I can select the field and select the text in it I cannot change it.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have no choice but to try and load a program onto my Windows 7 machine that only has WinXP compatibility (well not 64-bit Windows 7 anyway) It is Samsung PC Studio for what that is worth.So my plan is to load it in XP compatible mode . The thing is there sem to be 2 parts to the program .1 is the program as such and the 2nd part is the usb drivers. I understand the procedure is to find the application file ,go to the compatibility tab and select WinXP.So my question is how do I know which are the right applications to change in this way? When I go into the folders there are quite a lot different ones . Is it really as painstaking as it seems ? I don't think when I just load the CD I am given an option to load in XP mode and when I click on the CD itself there doesn't seem to be an option to change all of the contained applications to XP compatible. Again I think I may be able to run the whole Win 7 operating system as WinXP but this seems like overkill

My problem here is the system runs in a program that is kept in the forground and there is no access normally for the start bar or windows. During the time that the notification icon is in the task bar though it allows them full access to the start bar. Is there anyway to disable this notification icon for the formatting process?Is there a way to auto select like a flash drive for burning everytime. Ok so found out that during a format, which i did a dvd-r to keep the notifcation open longer that i could then modify the notifications and see that process to hide it and it looks like it stays hidden now to not pop the start bar to the front of the program.So now i just need to find a way to auto select like a flash drive for burning everytime.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently got a virus and had a stick of ram go bad at the same time (bad luck). I decided to scrap the 4 gigs of ram and ordered 8 gigs. This meant I needed to move from 32 bit Win 7 to 64 bit. I wiped the partition to completely remove the virus and installed 64 bit. I realized that Windows Explorer (under "Computer") was showing the correct size of the drives and used space but if you "open" the drive to see the files and folders there is nothing there: "This folder is empty". I have a Ubuntu Live CD and can see the files there, so I am sure the data is still there but I can't get to it in windows 7. I installed and reinstalled drivers for my motherboard but no luck. I had Windows 7 check on updating the drivers for the hard drives and it said it was using the best driver available.

She had an external drive with lots of files on it she wanted to access. I took the drive, plugged it into a Windows 7 machine (HP quad), and all of the files appeared, no problem. But, then I plugged the seagate drive into her new Toshiba laptop (also Win 7), and only some of the files appeared. Missing were all photo files, and many other types. I could not figure out why some were missing and some showing. I took the drive to a third computer with Win 7, an MSI all-in-one, and behold: files were missing. Now it seemed almost arbitrary. Could it be a matter of some Windows updates not yet installed? Why would the exact same drive work differently on three different computers in regard which files were seen and accessible? None were "hidden" files.

Also, if I open the folder the long way, that is cusersmyusermy documentsdownloads it opens fine, even i don't change the folder name, I think the error is in the registry, used Revo Uninstaller to uninstall facemoods and it messed up the registry to a state that pc became useless, had to backup registry, but seems it never recovered from it.

My system perf is slow. I installed few softwares. I have deselected most of the startup services and programs from msconfig. Eventhough my system bootup time is slow, and whenever i open mycomputer it taking time to load.
I have decided to install Windows 7 Enterprise Edition x64 by formatting my C drive. But there is no option while i do clean install.
Someone spilled a liquid on my wife's laptop damaging the keyboard and internals. It cannot boot but I need to get the files from the HD. I bought one of those USB to laptop HD cables, removed the HD and hooked the cable to my desktop Windows 7 PC. The drive came up as "System Reserved" with only the boot sector folders visible. I hooked it to an XP PC and autoplay showed all the folders but I couldn't see them in "Computer." I tried backing everything up to a DVD but it failed for some reason. This somehow may have damaged the drive.The drive now appears and disappears in device manager. When it's listed, it shows as working properly but no longer shows up in Computer or Disk Management. Any chance of getting files off of the laptop HD?

Now when i boot from windows 7 it shows 64 bit and in vista it shows 32 bit. The system asks before booting which one to choose. It's today only that I have installed but I am not facing any problem as such except that i need a product key within 30 days. Should i leave as it is or uninstall vista somehow. Would i be able to reboot my system using the 32 bit vista CD?

I have been unable to share files. Not only between two computers both running Windows 7, which I'm trying to sync some files in (OneNote), but I can't even change the properties.
I've tried everything, from going into advances sharing settings in the drive and giving full permission, to just the basic right clicking on the file, clicking Share With, and trying to click Homegroup, or going into specific people, and no matter what, it just keeps saying Nobody, with the lock icon next to it.I have gone into the firewall and made sure that's not an issue...it just seems that no matter what, Windows just will not allow me to share ANY files in my documents folders.
