Mouse Freeze Up Or Is Not Recognized

I have been testing Windows 7 Beta with all of the updates on an Insperion 600m. Surprisingly it worked fine and ran Office 2007. Suddenly my mousepad pointer locked up. I shut the computer down and connected a wireless mouse with no correction to the problem.

I shut down a second time and connected a wired mouse and restarted the computer again. Again the mouse was motionless. Beside three dead mice what could be the problem?

Wireless Microsoft Mouse Intermittently Not Recognized
About 25% of the time my wireless Laser Mouse 5000 is not recognized on bootup with the RC.  I had the same problem with the Beta.  The only way to get my mouse to function is to reboot.

I have installed the Beta mouse driver, but the problem persists.

This is a 64 bit system (hardware & OS).  The mouse properties consistently reports good battery & wireless signal.  This problem never occurs with my XP X64 on the same dual-booting machine.

Keyboard Mouse Not Recognized On KVM Switch
On my new Acer M7720 (X58 Core-i7-920) I have Vista HP 64 bits working fine with an Conceptronic 2 port KVM switch so I can also use keyboard, mouse & monitor on my old PC. On the new Acer I also installed Windows 7, but here the mous and keyboard are not recogized when connected through the KVM switch.

I have to stick both in the front site USB ports, then baoth are working. When I stick them in the KVM switch, you can here the USB connect sound and both devices are shown under unknown devices, wereas the are shown under devices when connected through the front side USB ports.

Any one an idea how to salve this? by the way the KVM switch is also 'seen' by Windows 7 under devices even though it doens't need any drivers. All conncected devices are shown (I have also 2 USB drives)

Mouse Freeze
My USB mouse freezes.  When it stops, the light goes out.  To get it to work again, I must unplug it.  It works fine after plugging it in again.  It doesn't matter which USB port I use. Now the odd part: With Windows XP, it freezes about 20-30 times per hour.  With Windows 7, it freezes maybe once, or twice at the very most, in an hour. Also, with Windows 7 it freezes for a split second and then resumes working normally.  This "self-fixing freeze" happens about every twenty minutes.

XP doesn't "self-fix." I think my hardware is at fault.  The problem appears with a fresh operating system install as well.  "Known to be good" backups don't fix the issue. The USB keyboard continues to work normally.  As well, I can use Remote Desktop and check my devices.

The mouse shows a warning and "Error 43." Is there something in Windows 7 that makes it fix itself? Cheers, PW. P.S. It's a Dell Insp530. The LED on the motherboard's yellow. It should be green. This doesn't look good.

Microsoft Wireless Laser Mouse 5000 Not Recognized
It Worked fine with Vista and win 7 release 7100. Initially found it and showed me a picture of the mouse. It asked for the pairing code, pressed magic button on bottom of mouse - no help. This is on a Lenovo T61.

Did a search for the problem - found same question with win7 RC, tried all suggestions there.
Went to service.msc turned on bluetooth activity, checked local system activity, checked and unchecked allow sys to interact. - no help. Went to add device after reversing the previous items - dosen't find the mouse.

Added intelipoint 7.0 per another suggestion - no help.

Went to lenovo site and added driver for Bluetooth for T61. - no help.

YES - batteries were replaced multiple times.

Is there a bluetooth mouse compatible with Home Premium win 7? Has anybody tested it?

Mouse And Keyboard Freeze
When I try to wake my computer after I have left it for a while the screen returns but the Logitech S520 mouse and keyboard don't respond despite clicking, moving, pounding on etc.  The system is on default power setting, I've made no chabges to it.  Nothing happens so I have to turn it off and on again.  I don't use Setpoint so can't upgrade the drivers.

Mouse Keyboard Freeze During Installation
I have a dell vostro 420, and I want to install windows 7 32bit home edition.

I was running xp fine untill a while ago. I was having hard drive problems.

I ended up getting a replacement hard drive, which is now in my PC.

I tried to do a clean install of 7, but the mouse and keyboard froze during install.

I'm able to install xp, which works fine, but would rather be running windows 7!

how can I fix this!?

I did manage to get it up and running eventually on the old hard drive-after turning off and on many many times during install due to mouse/keyboard freezes! and general 'hanging' at points during install

windows 7 then locked up my mouse keyboard after a few seconds or minutes (or froze?)

windows 7 safe mode worked fine.

Keyboard And Mouse Freeze Randomly
My keyboard and mouse freeze up for 2-4 seconds at seemingly random intervals. I could go for a couple hours without it happening, or like now, it has happened twice while writing this.

If I'm typing something when it freezes, nothing I type while it's frozen ends up showing up, but if I had hit a key right when it froze, it will repeat itself until I press something else after it unfreezes.

They keyboard and mouse both freeze at the same time, it's not one or the other.  It has nothing to do with standby like the topic below...it can happen right after I boot up or anytime thereafter.

My hardware is an eMachines M6805 laptop (upgraded to 2GB of RAM) and just a basic Dell USB mouse and keyboard.

Microsoft Wireless Mouse Freeze
I just installed Windows7 Beta on my P4 1.8 desktop with a Matrox G550 dual head video card and it looks pretty good.  I ran the latest software from Matrox and I now have both monitors running.

I connected to the internet and downloaded Windows Live Messanger and as soon as the install was completed my Microsoft Wireless Mouse froze and thats where I am right now, unable to do anything. I rebooted into safe mode with internet access and everything works fine.

Any ideas as to how to fix this problem? Is this a legit "bug" and is this the right place to report it?

Mouse / Cursor Freeze After Installing Intellipoint 7.0
Attempting to fix some mousewheel scrolling issues, I tried installing the Microsoft Intellipoint 7.0 drivers (32bit) for Windows 7 beta.

Having a microsoft mouse (Notebook Optical Mouse 3000), I of course chose that one during the install.

My problem is, that after rebooting, the cursor was frozen.

-changing USB port doesn't help
-uninstalling the Intellipoint drivers doesn't help
-tested another USB mouse (Logitech Trackball) - it's also frozen.
-after uninstalling Intellipoint, I tried letting Windows update find drivers - to no avail.

The lights on the mice turn on when plugged in, and when I connect/disconnect them, Windows gives that well-known "ding" sound - so I'm guessing that there's connection.

I've installed Windows 7 on a laptop (HP Pavilion dv3550eo), and the touchpad is still working (but the device manager shows this as being connected to a PS/2 port and not a USB one).

- I don't feel like spending another day reformatting just to get my mouse working :

Before installing the Intellipoint drivers I uninstalled the touchpad drivers, so I expect that the problem is due to a conflict between the two - but then again, who am I to say, seing as how uinstalling Intellipoint didn't "uninstall" my problem.

Update: The USB mice do in fact show up as 'USB Human Interface Devices' in device manager, and comparing with win7 on a friends computer, they drivers were the same (6.1.7000.0 from 21-06-2006).
I'm guessing Intellipoint left a filter or something running that says - "Access DENIED" to any USB mouse I try to hook up - at least that's how far my humble imagination allows me to think ;)

USB Device Not Recognized On Win 7 - USB Mouse
I have a 4 week old Inspiron 1545 with Windows 7 Home premium that has developed an error: USB errors while trying to install a Microsoft USB mouse on this Laptop. Interestingly, my Microsoft USB Mouse installed perfectly first time and worked for about 2 weeks, and then failed.

In looking at the system restore points, it tells me that there have been two driver updates to the USB environment since the unit was shipped from Dell. I wonder if an automatic update from Microsoft has somehow inadvertently updated or replaced a Dell factory driver.

Two nights ago I spent 45 minutes with Dell tech support doing remote control bug fixing on this laptop. They werent able to fix it (in the time allowed). They downloaded at least one of their newest drivers onto this machine and rebooted it - and they seemed pretty savvy - but still not working.

So I went ahead a did a system restore to a point about 10 days back because I could see that a USB driver would be affected (as shown in the system restore menus), and I would like to compliment Microsoft on this very cool functionality!

At this point, I've unplugged the USB mouse, used the Device Manager to delete the 'unknown device', and done a system restore back to what I suspected was a working point. But still getting a 'Device not recognized' warning every few minutes, and still don't have a working mouse. I don't want to have to do system restores back to pprevious dates, although I suspect this is one solution.

External Mouse Conflict With Laptop Internal Mouse
I loaded Windows 7 RC1 on my Gateway laptop with a Synaptics touchpad. When I plug in and use my Logitech VX nano wireless mouse/receiver, the internal mouse remains enabled which causes conflicts between the two devices. Shouldn't there be a feature/option in the control panel mouse applet to disable the internal pointing device? If there isn't one then isn't this an oversight in the design of the O/S?

CD Drive Not Recognized After Reboot
I'm using a Dell laptop Studio XPS 1640. Ok, I was about to upgrade to Windows 7 and it listed a couple of programs that needed to be deleted, so I uninstalled them. The 2nd or 3rd time I was required to restart my computer, it froze at the "Shutting Down..." screen for about 20 minutes. I waited and waited and decided to power down. I turned it back on, and it didnt say Windows was not shut down properly, so i figured it was ok.

However when I booted back up, I was going to eject and re-insert the upgrade CD. I hit eject, nothing happens. Hit eject again, nothing happens. I go to Computer to try and view the CD thats in my CD Drive....NOTHING SHOWS UP! MY CD drive is now UNRECOGNIZED by my computer! Now I cant complete the upgrade. Not to mention, the upgrade made me uninstall itunes and my virus protection, saying a new version will be installed automatically after the upgrade.

Sometimes Keyboard Not Recognized At Boot Up
When I boot up my system, my keyboard is not recognized sometimes. In the past it would not see my keyboard after being awaken from a sleep state, but that appears to have stopped. I have uninstalled both of my keyboard drivers (HID and PS 2) and switched keyboards! I had to rebot three or four times before it re-installed my PS2 keyboard driver.

The PS2 driver is the 2006 32 bit Legacy driver that comes with windows 7. I am running Windows 7 64 bit business edition. I have a MSI X58 Premium Motherboard, I7 920 processor, ATI Radeon 4670 Graphics card, Enermax 500 watt power supply and two SATA hard drives (SSD 64 Gigs C: drive, Western digital 500 gb and a IDE DVD RW). I have tried several different Keyboards, with the same results. Does anyone know what could cause this?

Wifi Adapter Not Recognized
I have a problem with Windows 7 Release Candidate (beta rev7100). I have a Linksys Wireless-B (WUSB11V4) network adapter that I use to connect to my wifi router. It works fine under my Windows XP. However, as I installed Win7 beta, I didn't find any way to make it work. Tried to find a driver, but it does not seems to exist for Win7.

Tried to install the driver I got with it, but it doesn't seem to work as it's for Windows XP. Tried to make Win7 recognize it by its own ways, but failed. The adapter's a 802.11b. Is that too old for Windows 7?

By the way, when I try to plug it out, I hear a sound and when I plug it in again, I hear another one, but it does not seem to be the "hardware recognized" sound.

Can anyone help or send a driver for windows 7?

None Of USB Connections Are Recognized
I have just installed Windows 7 32 bit and now none of my USB connections are being recognised. my computer specs are: http://www.acerdirect.co.uk/Acer_Aspire_9301AWSMi_Laptop_LX.AWP0X.008/version.asp Before I installed Windows 7 everything worked fine on XP. I have 3 Maxtor Onetouch 4 external hard drives, a logitech wireless keyboard and mouse. Even my iphone isnt being found when i plug it in. I get no response from windows when I plug the USB's in. I can hear the external hard drives powering up so it isn't a power issue and I have swapped all of the USB connection leads about and it doesn't make any difference.

I've tried all of my hard drives on my friends computer and they all work fine. Ive looked through the forums for answers but cannot seem to find any that work. I have been to the disk manager and device manager and they cant find the USB connections. Ive also been to the Maxtor/Seagate website and non of their walk through seem to work or be applicable to this scenario.

Any help that you could give me would be greatly appreciated as I'm a student and really need to access these external hard drives along with my i-Phone etc (preferably on my own PC).
