Dual Screen, Dual DVI GPU Versus 2 Single DVI GPUs
Nov 20, 2012I am building a new computer and I want to go with a dual screen setup. I was wondering if I should go with a GTX 670 2GB GPU or two Sapphire Radeon 7870s. If not specifically these cards, let me know what you think. Is it better to have a single GPU with dual DVI output or two slightly cheaper GPUs using crossfire?

Dec 21, 2009i recently got a second 20" monitor. (both are samsung, 2 ms. very similar in specs).
and i noticed i can not use both of them in games. IE, the resolution in game wont go past 1680x 1050, which, by my understanding, is how u get it to span onto the second monitor. Any ideas? iv got an nVidia GTX260 running latest drivers. core i7 oced to 3.6.

Sep 12, 2012All games I've played recently (both single and multiplayer, whether through Steam, Origin, or standalone, internal or external drive) occasionally freeze up and then recover. It usually lasts only a couple of seconds. Example games:Dragon Age II (singleplayer, through Origin, external drive) League of Legends (multiplayer, internal drive) Raiderz (multiplayer, internal drive) Jade Empire (singleplayer, through Steam, external drive) Skyrim (singleplayer, through Steam, external drive) Dark Souls (multiplayer, through Steam, external drive) I haven't checked every single game on my system, I can try others if that will help diagnose the problem.
My systemMac Pro 2009, dual booting Windows 7 Home Premium, SP1, 64-bit OS with Boot Camp. Problem is with Windows 7 boot. 2 Quad Core Intel Xeon CPU - W3540 @ 2.93.GHz 3.06GHz 8 GB RAM ATI Radeon HD 5870 Some games are on an external drive. There does not seem to be a difference in how often games on internal vs external hang. Things I have already triedEverything on the troubleshooting thread except relating to DirectX 11 (these games aren't using it on my current settings) Everything on this "games hang briefly but periodically" thread Alt-Tab to Resource Monitor after a hang. No strong correlations found. Some spikes in Queue Length, some in CPU, nothing I can identify as obviously related. Reinstalling Windows & games with a fresh Boot Camp partition (When all else fails... no good though.) Upgrading my graphics card (I wanted to do this anyway, hoped it would help... games are a lot prettier, but no dice on the hanging problem) Order of events:No problem for ~3 years of use Installed Dragon Age II, needed to update graphics driver for it to run. At the time I had NVIDIA GeForce GT 120. I did a fresh driver install, initially I thought this might be the reason because it could have cleared out something from Boot Camp's special drivers. DA2 running, is first game to show hanging problem. Mainly happens at start of battle. Noticed next in League of Legends.First attempt at troubleshooting. Updated all drivers, Windows 7 updates, etc. Re-installed Windows in a clean Boot Camp partition, since (as noted) I thought I might have messed up some of BC's drivers. No improvement. Got tired of my overall crappy graphics and got a new graphics card, hoping it would also fix the hang problem. New card: ATI Radeon HD 5870. Games are super pretty! Still hang. Followed all of troubleshooting and hanging thread advice, minus DirectX 11 settings (since not using 11--even DA2 is set to 10). Still no improvement. I know my way around a computer but I'm no expert, and this is over my head. My only remaining theory is that it's something about running on Boot Camp--but it was fine for 3 years.
Dual Screen, Unable To Full Screen On Second Monitor?

Primary: Samsung Syncmaster 19 Inch widesreen 1400 * 900
Secondary: LG E2541 25 Inch Widescreen 1980 * 1080
OS: Windows 7 64bit
VideoCard: Nvidia Geforce 560 Ti
I use my primary mostly for browsing, msn, music players, Ventrilo etc etc,I want to use my secondary Monitor for gaming Watching Videos.However, when i want to use something Full screen on my secondary monitor it goes full screen on the primary monitor.
I cant also run it in windowed mode and stretch it out to full screen, it does not allow me to do that, it goes back to the size of my primary Monitor.
Ps.I want this since i play mostly with fullscreen borderless or in windowed mode so i can still browse the internet or adjust music/ventrillo settings. I dont want to have an Taskbar below the game, so thats why i need it on the Second Monitor.
Black Screen On Some Games
Jul 25, 2009When I play certain games the computer just shut downs, like if was a BSOD, although I cannot be certain since my monitor looses signal as well.
Example:
Installed bionic commando, latest catalyst drivers, latest dx runtime. After playing for 3-4 min the screen goes black and it sounds like the computer powers down but do not shut of, if you understand what I mean?
This doesn't happen to all games as well which is odd.
Not sure if it's a hardware or software problem.

What can i say :
->I enter in game ( I've chosen a 2002 Game like GTA III )
->MainMeniu works fine , I start a new game
->Here's the problems start , as you know all games have an INTRO movie ... i only can hear it , no way to see something!!!
->All right , the game starts and i see it in mages , i move my character and the screen goes black after i goes in car.
->The image goes back when the screen move no more and if i accelerate the screen goes black again 'til i brake and nothing moves too much in background
In all of 3D games makes me the same I use
OS:Windows 7 32:Bit
I installed latest drivers for Video Card (Ati : 9600 Series)
DirectX is incorporated : DirectX 11
At monitor i get a little problem when i install the driver :

It can be from DirectX? May i install a DX 9.0c on it if I have DX 11 ? Ive tried and didn't work
If it is from Monitor , What can i do ... the triver is taken from Oficial Iiyama site
Now for the last supect problem for me, the OpenGL ( Counter-Strike 1.6 use it and i cant run it , so i think i have a problem with that too ) It is a descused problem but maybe from this ?
Games Won't Go Full Screen
Oct 29, 2011It started when I left a game running in full screen and my laptop went to sleep mode.Every time I want to start a game now it doesn't stretch full screen. It just stays centered with a big black frame around it.

May 7, 2009My laptop graphic card is ATI mobility radeon HD3650, the resolution of LCD is 1280*800, recently I installed windows 7(7100), and the latest display driver ATI catalyst 9.4 for Windows 7(downloaded from AMD.com).The issue is that my games such as War3 cannot be displayed in full screen. Black rim revolves around the game frame.
I know there is a function about stretching to fit the screen in Catalyst contrl center. But it does not work.

Jun 30, 2009I installed Windows 7 RC a few days ago and I am very happy with it except for one thing, and that's when playing games.
When I have played for some time (it's totally random) the screen goes black and it refuses to display the image again, tried unplugging it from graphics card, turn off power and nothing helps. The sound continues but nothing else respond.
This happens in all games i've tried this far (Prototype, Overlord II, Call of Juarez - Bound in Blood). It never happens when I'm simply using Windows or programs, only when I play games. Windowed Mode also seems to work without the screen going black, but unfortunately all games doesn't have an option to play in windowed mode.
I have all updates from Windows Update installed, latest graphics drivers and DirectX. The graphics card is quite hot when I touch it, so is it possible that Windows 7 is very sensitive to this? I never had this problem in Vista and it appeared right after i formated the harddrive and installed Windows 7 RC.

Feb 5, 2012I use samsung SF411 14.9 inch along with windows 7 home premium 64bit.recently i have installed nfs MW. but when i cannot play this game with full screen. i get black bars on each side of the screen..Go to ATI CATALYST Applicaton:
- Graphics/Desktop & Display/ click triangle button in big Screen Model and press "Properties" option
- now change resolution to lower one.(in my lapy i have changed it from 1366x768 to 1280x720.)
- Save & Exit. 2)now again go to ATI CATALYST Application
- Graphics/Desktop & Display/ this time click on bottom left small Laptop icon's triangle from where u can get to "Configure" option

Dec 5, 2009After upgrading to windows 7 I am no longer able to play any games (example: Need for Speed: Most Wanted) in full screen mode like before on vista. There seems to be a Lot of people with this same issue as well but none have fixed the problem for me. I also tried to download and install Microsoft .NET Framework v4.0 beta 2 but that did not work either.
Please help anyone if you can, I've had more problems with windows 7 than vista already in less than one week.

Dec 23, 2009i didn't do anything with my windows,i installed doom3 on my laptop and when i turned it on,i was :O that it is not on full screen,n it is leaving some borders from left and right side almost 1 inch both sides...i changed game resolution,but no effect...its same,and then i installed NFS MW and same was with it too...

Dec 9, 2009i hav a Laptop compaq CQ-40 with ati graphic HD3450...1st time i format it..it's ok on the games...but when the second time i've formated it...the problems start to come...i dun know what really the problems...it wont go full screen...when i've adjust the resolution...it even dun make any changes...but worst...my desktop also turn box kind of screen with the black edges on the right and left...but also up and the right..i got see in the forum..got many people hav same problems as me..they have solved it...but it's only for nvdia...i need problems solved for Ati.

Everything works fine aside from the games don't accommodate the full desktop screen even though it is already set to full mode. I can see black screen on both left and right sides of the screen. Dec 1, 2009i am using dell studio 1737 and windows 7 x64.with latest driver obtained from dell site.cuz i could not find it on intel site.it has intel GMA 4500MHD.
anyhow my problem is,i am using doom3 and on MS compatibility site it says,that it is compatible with windows7 but it does not run in full screen,it always runs in short mode,from vertical angle it runs in full length but in horizantal,it leaves border on both left and right side,almost an inch.
i searched for it lots and found that i must check my intel vga main settings panel to allow it use full screen which i have attached with,the screenshot.it is using full screen mode,but it is not using full screen,
i installed vista on my drive D.and in it,it used full screen resolution.

Apr 18, 2012I have an HP Monitor 2310m model and HP Pavilion p6310f desktop computer with NVIDIA GeForce 9100 integrated graphics. I had to reinstall windows and afterwards could not play some of my games to fill monitor screen completely. (are set to play full screen)Before the reinstall, I could adjust the resolution to 1440x900 to get them to fill the screen but that won't work now. I got a few to fill it with 1600x1200 but only a few. I've read that other people have this problem but no solutions have worked. Tried changing resolution, setting full screen mode, hitting ALT & ENTER keys.

Black Screen While Playing Games On Computer?
Jan 19, 2012have some serious problems with my computer. I get black screen everytime I play games, like World of Warcraft and Counter Strike: Source.In another Thread there was a guy with the same problem, he attached the MX-4 somehow and I don't know what that is, is it something you buy or is it something you download? The MX-4 seemed to be working for him so I wanna try that.

Black Screen Of Death When Playing Games
May 19, 2012When I launch either of 2 games (Borderlands and The Secret World), after a while, the screen will go dark and most of the time I'll hear a high pitched wine, I'll restart the PC and everything is usually good. I say usually because in the last 2 days, when booting up, I'll get to the screen that says "Starting windows" or the desktop is about to be displayed and the screen goes dark.
The SSD firmware has been updated to the latest; I worked with Kingston to do this. In the BIOS, the drive is configured to use Raid (XHD) and the drive is physically connected to the SATA3 port.
I have tried physically connecting it to a SATA2 for the firmware upgrade along with changing from Raid (XHD) to ACHI to IDE. When I run the program Speccy, it says that the status of S.M.A.R.T is bad and running Crystal Disk Info, it says Unknown for the disk health and other fields.

Sep 22, 2012I have started playing Guild Wars 2, after the first couple of days my game started to freezing and black screen to desktop before going back into game to only black screen again. At times my monitor would say no signal. The problem disappeared for close to 5 days and came back up again. I've tried playing other games and the problem is similar, freezing to desktop, black screen and crashing to desktop.During the black screen to desktop I would get 'Display driver stopped responding and has recovered'. I have updated to a few different drivers including the latest stable driver from Nvidia but the problem still exists.I have ran VMT for 10 passes with no errors.
Prime95 Small FFTs for over 2hours with no errors.Running FurMark the test does complete when I run BenchMark(user's setting) when I do the Burn In-Test everything looks okay until my GPU hits 80c. The computer would shut off then. Though when I play games my gpu varies between 50 to 62c[CODE]
