Upgrade Xp In Other Language Than English
I am a XP user in Holland, so I used Dutch as a language for my computer. I know I could use the English, but so it is. I tried to upgrade my computer to Windows7, but it says that an other language is not possible. When I read the dixtionary files online then I red that it is still possible with some extra actions. Is this true or do I red it wrong?

Removing The English US Keyboard Layout
I'm a new user of the Windows 7 operating system. So far I'm content with it, it's just that I have one problem unsolved. I've been trying for the past few weeks to remove the English US keyboard without any success. I have no problem adding any new keyboards/languages, but that specific keyboard just won't go away, and it's causing me trouble.

I've Googled it and found no answer. Is there any way I could do something about it? Anyone has any idea? Anything would be useful.

Installation Stuck After First Reboot
I've already installed the beta on one computer and it works.I tried installing it on my Asus A8JN laptop, by either upgrade or new install and in both cases the installion starts, reaches the first reboot (After expanding some files) and than after the restart I choose "Windows Setup" but than the machine halts,

I have a black screen, the HD is not working and it seems the machine isn't doing anything.I tried looking at log files, and the last line in the log is about successfull shutdown, the error log has only 2 errors about some filetypes, but according to their time they're from several minutes before the problematic part.

Tried updating BIOS, didn't help. Any one has ideas? Or ways that I could find out some more meaningful logs?

Norwegian Keyboard Language Missing Characters
It seems to me when I have the "Norwegian Bokmål" set as keyboard language there are several characters on my keyboard which does not longer match their corresponding keys. For instance; @
So for me to be able to type that char, there are other chars as well, i have to change to the English US language for instance.

And then if I need to type Norwegian characters like æøå i have to switch back to the norwegian keyboard language. It's no big deal to use the hotkeys to switch, it's just getting annyoing since this was never an issue with earlier versions of windows.

I also tried to onscreen keyboard with the norwegian keyboard layout, the @ is simply missing on the onscreen keyboard.

To be honest I can't remember this being an issue when I first had installed windows 7. Not sure if this issue started after installing the English language pack.

Anyone have a clue on how to resolve this?

Keyboard SHIFT Key Stuck
My keyboard and mouse are acting mostly like I'm holding down the SHIFT key. Nothing I do corrects this including Ease of Access settings. What's strange is that when I reboot, it works fine for about 5 minutes. After that, it gets crazy. All the number keys at the top will only display special characters (as if shift key is being pressed). Same with all the other character keys like .,;l[] The keypad numbers function like cursor keys.

If the NUM LOCK is on (or off, not sure which) it they function like SHIFT-ARROWS. Letter keys are either all caps or all lowercase depending on ALPHA LOCK, but SHIFT doesn't make a difference. The mouse will select everything to the left of what I click on. It's driving me crazy as you might expect. Really need some help.

This may be related to software I tried to install on Win7 (64bit) on an Acer Desktop. Seems like it started after installing Logitech Webcam software (I've since uninstalled it). In fact, a popup showed up asking if I wanted to keep using Sticky Keys (see below) or something like that.

I wasn't using Sticky Keys so I thought that was odd. EDIT: Correction, it was Filter Keys, not Sticky Keys. The same popup just showed up when I created a new USER. "Do you want to turn on Filter Keys?"

Saitek Gamer Keyboard, Key Stuck
i have noticed an annoying problem where my keyboard acts like the comma "," key  is stuck. If I open the start menu, occasionally, a row of commas gets typed into the search box. This has also happened when I am at the desktop, or for instance running Notepad.

I don't seems to be having this problem in Vista, only 7. If it happened in Vista, then I would simply say, sticky contact, or failing keyboard, but so far, I do not get this in Vista. Any help would be appreciated. I am using the latest drivers from Windows Update for my keyboard.

Unable To Switch Language With Alt+shift Keyboard Shortcut
My problem is very simple: the alt+shift shortcut that usually changes between input languages is not working.  In the general tab of Text Services and Input Languages, I have one language, English(Canada) with two keyboard layouts (US and Canadian French).

In the Advanced Key Settings tab, it says that the Action: Between input languages is associated with Key sequence: Left Alt + Shift. This has always worked well in XP and Vista, but seems to be broken in windows 7. Thanks for your help. By the way, all other shortcuts (Alt+Tab, Ctrl+Alt+Del, etc.) work well, so my keyboard is NOT the issue.

But, some programs that I have loaded will only display in Japanese. Mostly this are the programs from Asus.

I have sent several mails about this and have heard nothing from them. So I was wondering if anyone has had this problem and knows how to fix it?

Upgrade Win7 From Spanish To English
My HP TouchSmart 300 (December 09) PC, OE Win 7 Premium works only in "Spanish" as I purchased this PC in Mexico where I presently reside on a temporary basis for the winter. I do not speak Spanish.

I want to use the "Anytime Upgrade" to upgrade from Win 7 Premium to Win 7 Ultimate. Windows 7 Ultimate has 'English' language amongst it's multiple language possibilities.

Is there any reason why I should not be able to install the upgrade English language Windows 7 Ultimate over the HP OE Spanish language Windows 7 Premium?

English Win 7 Key + German Install Disks, Will It Work ?
I have an OEM version of Win 7 Pro (English) currently installed on my system. I am currently upgrading my Motherboard and CPU, building another system with the old parts. As the recipients of my old setup are German, the OS needs to be in German for them also.

Here is my dilemma. When I pickup a new copy of Win 7 it will be in German (as I am living in Germany). They need a German instillation of 7 and my current OEM key is locked to the old motherboard. Will I be able to use that English OEM key with a German instillation, then use the new German key with my current English disks?

Upgrade XP Prof X64 English To Win7 Ultimate X64 Dutch
Ok, i'm dazzled by the many websites with each a different opinion, upgrade paths, and so. It took me hours of reading and clicking. I'm nearly fed up. So finally made it to this forum. With my question:

Is it possible to legally upgrade from XP professional X64 English (OEM) to Windows 7 Ultimate X64 Dutch? Retail or OEM needed?

BTW: Windows 7 Professional X64 Dutch would be a good alternative.

It's unclear to me if it' s allowed to switch from an English OS to a dutch OS. Some say any new OS MUST be the same language as the old one. But is this also appliable for the Ultimate version, since it can switch to other languages after install?

I will be doing a clean install.

Further on i am struggling with the ' professional' to ' ultimate' switch. In some cases that path would not be allowed, others say it is allowed.

What we'd need is a wizard containing all the different choices and possiblilities. Simply choose the old OS from a drop down menu and the new OS, and it would tell you YES thats possible or NO, impossible. And under what conditions. Would draw a lot of site visitors.

Just my 2 cents.

Period Keyboard Lockups / Toshiba Satellite M40 Keyboard
Toshiba PSM30 Satellite Laptop
1.25Gb Ram
Centrino 1.5Ghz

when using windows 7 on this laptop periodically the keyboard input will freeze - it will freeze for up to two seconds after which the keypresses will "catch up".

Ive hunted around for a solution to this and only managed to find a issue for some installs upgrading form winxp...

The sugestion here http://www.watchingthenet.com/windows-vista-tip-how-to-fix-slow-keyboard-response-after-upgrade-from-windows-xp.html

suggests adding a new regrsitry key which I have done and it has made ZERO difference (its not made it any worse either)

At the moment this is making this laptop pretty unusable in that it locks out keyboard input about once every 30 seconds....

Note that this lockout is not tied to any particular program (it even happens in notepad with no other programs running).

Ive preorded win7 for this laptop prior to installing the RC, and I am now starting to worry i may not be able to use it on this laptop.

if i keep the cpu gadet running "always on top" I can see that when the keyboard input is getting buffered its not the case that the CPU is maxed out at 100% in face i can see it happening when the cpu is running at less than 20 percent.

Dunno if this is a driver issue or an issue with my particular hardware setup. This is not the newest laptop but its not the oldest either, and apart from this win7 runs at an ok rate. Memory utilisation is around 45%.

Very occasionally when typing it seems that windows will issue an alert sound when the keyboard locks out but its not every time and there is no alert message associated with the sound - all in all its hugely frustrating.

Activate English Version With Spanish Version Key
I am buying a new PC in Spain but want Windows 7 Home Premium in English, which does not seem to be available anywhere here. So my techie guy is downloading an English version (pirate???) and at same time buying a genuine Spanish version. He says he will then use the key code from the Spanish pack to validate the English version.

Is this possible, and could I encounter any problems later? How can I be 100% sure (before I leave the shop!) that I have a validated, genuine English version of Windows 7 that will continue to work indefinitely?

Keyboard Input Causes Audio Skipping, No Keyboard Repeat
I'm having a strange issue with Windows 7, involving keyboard input and audio playback. I find that when I'm typing something (like this message, or anything else) and listening to music through any media player, the audio output skips as I type. There doesn't seem to be a real pattern to it, but it is definitely noticeable skipping only when I'm typing.

I also noticed that if I try to use a repeating key function, such as holding down the backspace key, the audio output stops completely, and the key does not repeat; the cursor just hangs until I let go of the key, at which point the music starts playing again too. Is anyone else having this issue?

Beside that Win7 seems quiet nice.

Difference Between Language
Does anybody here was able to see the difference between a Windows 7 installation disk in another language than English and a Windows 7 installed in English + a language pack (MUI)?

Personally, I don't see any. But I think my MUI (French) is still incomplete because there is some places in Windows which are still in English.

Note: The question is valid for any language.
