HP Pav Dv5 1002nr Wireless Issue
i´ve been beating my head against the wall for 5 days now, and can´t seem to find the solution for this issue..nothing realy worked so far.

Laptop model: HP Pavilion dv5 1002nr

wireless adapter: Atheros Wireless LAN Driver Wireless LAN 802.11a/b/g/n

Problem: Installed win 7 64bits, and wireless is nor functioning, LED is orange too. when I hardwire I can connect to the net though.

Already tried to install all drivers for vista 64 ultimate from HP web, and still no response from the adapter. On device manager it sais its working properly (BS!!!).

Can this be a config problem? or should I try other drivers?

Unexpected Error When Creating Wireless LAN
When I'm trying to use the "Manually connect to a wireless network"-function, I always encounter the text "Unexpected error", which just gets displayed after I entered the network information (SSID, Security and stuff) and clicked next.

I'm using the x64 version.

Is there any workaround known?

Atheros AR5007 Wireless Lan Drivers
I have an issue with Atheros AR5007 wireless lan card drivers.  My laptop is 2 months old: Compaq CQ60-210US with built it wireless.  Came with Vista Premium.  Everything worked.  I upgraded it with 32bit Win 7.  Most things worked.  The Wireless light would stay yellow indicating there was NOT a wireless connection, but I could connect using IE.  When connected, the light turns blue.

There are posts on this site saying to download the XP, not the Vista drivers from HP and install those to fix the light issue.  The wireless card is Atheros AR5007EG.  When I go to the HP website for this model, there are Vista wireless drivers listed but none for XP.  The original driver used was a Microsoft driver.  It worked other than the light issue.

The HP site lists the drivers as Broadcom Wireless LAN drivers for Vista. I downloaded these and tried to install them.  Nothing ever happened.  This is a single .exe file. When I tried to install and double clicked, it just goes off into space.  Never comes back and says the drivers are installed.  Now the networking is down and I can't get it back up.  Went to uninstall programs in Control Panel and tried to uninstall everything dealing with wireless.  When the system reboots it reinstalls the "latest" drivers, but still doesn't work.

Tried to install using the compatibility options listed in the post I found on this site. Same thing.  Never installs.

Tried to install by updating the driver and manually pointing the update to the Vista driver .inf file.  Same thing.

HP Wireless Assistant asks what wireless router I'm using [Netopia 3347] and tells me that router is not supported.

Went to Device Manager and uninstalled all network adapters.  Same thing.  On reboot, installs the latest drivers and will not connect to my wireless router.

The HP site appears not to contain any Atheros drivers, only Broadcom.

When I try to find my network, I get my neighbors listed but nothing that is my network.  I don't broadcast the ssid.

I updated the auto connect list with my network name.  Nothing. Can't find it.

Oddly enough, I just had a flash while writing this.  The wireless light on the laptop is actually a switch.  You can turn the wireless off on an airplane by just pressing the light button.  I never considered it might be in an off position because it always shows yellow.  I pushed it and the HP Assistant came up and said the wireless was on.  I can now connect to the net. Yeah!  But the light issue still remains, which was the original problem.  Its still yellow when the network is active, and should be blue.

I went back to one of the posts and downloaded Atheros AR5007EG drives for XP from the listed site in CZ.  Installed those.  Same issue, the light is still yellow, not blue, but I can at least connect to the wireless router.  Oddly, the installed drivers are listed in device manager as AR5006.

I'm still asking for any insight into the whole broadcom/Atheros which driver to use to get this to work right issue. It would appear everyone else fixed it in Feb except me.

Choosing A Preferred Network: LAN Vs Wireless
I've set up Sync/Offline files successfully on my laptop.  The problem is when my laptop is docked, and has both LAN and wireless connections, the network chooses the wireless connection over the LAN (which obviously is much faster).  Is there a way to make the LAN the preferred network?  When I try disabling the wireless, sync does not work as it appears to be linked in some way to the wireless network.

Win7 Can't See RT2400 Wireless LAN Card
I'm trying out Windows 7 RC (build 7100) 64 bit and i have problems with my lan card. When I was using Windows 7 beta (build 7000) 32 bit I never encountered such a problem. Windows simply doesn't see this card. Without it I can't connect to the Internet thus simply makeing whole Win7 useless. Drivers are pretty old (2003-10-08) but, as I mentioned, worked propertly on build 7000. What might be wrong? My specs: Pentium Q8200, P5KPL/1600, GTX 260.

Driver For Ralink Wireless LAN Card On HP Pavilion M9350F
For some reason, Windows 7 does not find any adapters on my computer. I have heard that Netgear does not support Windows 7 yet, (Aren't vista drivers supposed to work on Windows 7 anyway? I have a WPN111 adapter) so I'm using a built in pci-e Ralink for my adapter that came with my comp. I downloaded the most recent driver for it off of HP's site, but when I install it on Windows 7, it comes out saying that my system does not meet the miniumum requirements.

Driver For INPROCOMM IPN 2200 Wireless LAN Adapter
I have just installed Windows 7 RC on a Toshiba Satellite Pro L10 Laptop.

Broadly speaking it works except that the Wireless LAN Adapter doesn't work.

The device is reported (by Linux) as an [Air Conn] INPROCOMMIPN 2200 Wireless LAN Adapter (rev 01) (Probably from Linksys/Cisco?).

Does anyone have any idea where / how I could get a suitable driver? I have downloaded the XP & Vista32 drivers and they don't appear to work. Incidentally, I have had Windows XP Home working on this laptop.

Intel Pro/Wireless 2200BG LAN Driver Does Not Work
I've installed a Windows 7 Beta few months ago in my laptop. My WLAN worked properly.

Now I have downloaded Windows 7 RC and successfully installed. However, my WLAN doesn't work this time.

It's the same driver and I've tried to use "Windows XP SP2" compatible mode to install it, still failed.

My WLAN is either Intel® Pro/Wireless 2200BG (802.11b+g) or Intel® Pro/Wireless 2915BG (802.11a+b+g).

Does anyone can help me about this?

I could provide link from the vendor site but i'm not sure if i'm allowed , with their driver it doesn't seem to be working on win7 (tried to manually install the xp-64 driver but i get the digital signature error and it doesn't work) , it seems that it uses a marvell chip , tried to use their drivers/ini with the same results.

All but 1 drivers were installed for the HP Pavilion dv5-1004nr.

The only driver that was missing was the ENE CIR infra-red received. Since it is a Microsoft e-home InfraRed received I think that the driver should be included by default. However, I managed to make it work by installing the Vista driver available.

HP DV5-1002US Performance
Nework connectivity is frequently questionable with frequent disconnects.

Tonight I got a BSOD....something I haven't seen since my Windows XP days years ago.

In the past 5 days of execution I also had a critical Kernel exception.

Waiting for the next set of patches...but I may have to uninstall Windows 7 and move to WIndows XP if this does not resolve soon.

I need a stable system and Windows 7 is less stable on this system then Vista has been.

Install On HP DV5 1251nr
I've got a HP DV5 1251 nr laptop. Came with Vista. Has a D:Recovery partition.

I did the upgrade install last Friday. Took 3.5 hours. Went smooth.

But now I want to do the clean install. I have the Family Home Premium version of 7.

My question is; will I be able to pass the compliance check now that I have Win 7 and am basically reinstalling 7.

Also, what do I do with my Vista Recovery Partition? Leave it alone? Is the recovery partition involved with the compliance check? I do have a 3DVD set of downloaded HP Recovery discs as well.

Also if anyone knows about the SwSetup Directory that has all the HP Software - should I use that or just look for all the HP Win 7 components that apply.

HP DV5 Laptop - Driver Issues
Windows 7 installed without a hitch. After installation of Windows Vista 32-bit drivers it functions perfectly. It appears to be a very peppy system with really neat improvements. Windows One Care live won't install because it does not view Windows 7 as a 'verifiable Microsoft Windows' Operating system.

I have been a part of the Windows Feedback Panel for at least 4 maybe 5 years. When Vista was in Beta testing I was chosen by Microsoft to be part of that group. Unfortunately in my view I was testing Vista on a Machine that ran Windows XP very well but was not capable of Hardware rigors of running Windows Vista.

I have tried for about the last six months to become part of the Beta testing for Windows 7, especially because I think I might have a better idea of what to do.

HP Pavillion Dv5 1388 N Audio Problem
I purchased an HP Pavillion dv-5 1388n Entertainment Notebook PC. It came with Vista Home, and was deemed compatible for the Windows 7 upgrade, to Home Premium. I received the upgrade disc and installed it this past weekend. The install went smoothly with no errors during the 2+ hour process. All apps worked fine, but I discovered that I can hear no system sounds or play any audio via I-Tunes or Windows Media Player. I have checked the sound properties and all is fine. There are no updates needed for anything and I have tried updating my drivers. I even uninstalled the drivers and restarted the laptop to allow the laptop to find the correct drivers.

When I try to play any audio file I get an error "Windows Media Player encountered a problem while playing the file". I tried to update the media and have even tried to download VLC Media Player with no success.

in XP having both accounts with the same name and password and some register magic solved the problem, but Windows 7 is different many aspects so i need help.

i can bypass this error by sharing all my drives but... i dont want to left my laptop with the legs open, or well turning on and off the sharing option.

the homegroup is working, though only shares what it want and i will not mess with it (too many files in both hardrives to having access to one zone of the partition).

LAN Driver
I have just finished a clean install of Win 7 RC on an AMD desktop computer.

The OS will not recognize the (built-in on motherboard) Realtek network adapter, it does give a message about needing a driver.

I looked for and found several drivers that "could fit", however non of them work.

I'll appreciate any guide to a driver for LAN.

Computers Can't See Each Other On LAN
My stepbrothers and I have been playing some games over our LAN lately. Two of us (including myself) are connected from laptops wirelessly, and the other is connected on a wired desktop. The game we had been playing is Call of Duty, patch version 1.5. All we had been doing before was one of us would create a server, and it would show up in the LAN list for the other two of us.

No set up needed, just installed and played. However, this evening we went to play again and no servers show up for the LAN. It doesn't matter who makes the server, no one else can see it. If I try to ping any other computer on the network, I get no response. If I go to the network devices, nothing shows up. However, if I go into my router I can see all devices, wired and wireless.

They just won't show up under the Windows network devices. I am running Windows 7, and the other laptop and desktop are running XP. We have made no changes to any of the systems. LAN servers just stopped showing up.

USB And LAN Issues
I have a AsRock K8NF4G-SATA 2 motherboard with 1.44GB of RAM and an AMD Sempron (tm) Processoer 3000+ 1.81 GHz. I have tried to install Windows 7, noting that its spec in terms of RAM, processor and graphics card suggest the 32 bit version of Windows 7 should work fine.

After many attempts, I finally got Windows 7 installed (custom install on to blank hard disk), noting that I had to disable onboard SATA and onboard audio in the BIOS to get it to install since with either of these enable the install failed (not a major problem though I could clearly do with sound at some stage!). However, once installed none of the USB sockets (4 on the back or 2 on the front) on LAN connection work at all. Connecting my LAN cable from my wireless router does not get me on the internet, noting that this does work on my netbook so clearly the problem lies with the desktop LAN connection. (Also note that both the USB and LAN sockets worked fine under XP previously.)

When I enter device manager, there are 3 exclamation marks as follows:

1) Under Universal Serial Bus controllers, the Standard OpenHCD USB Host Controller has an error - "This device cannot start. (Code 10)"

2) Under Network adaptors, the NVIDIA nForce Networking Controller has an error - "This device cannot start. (Code 10)"

3) Under Display adaptors, the NVIDIA GeForce 6100 (Microsoft Corporation-WDDM) has an error - "Windows has stopped thisdevice because it has reported problems. (Code 43)"

Errors 1) and 2) certainly seems to tie in with the problems I am having, not sure whether error 3) is also related?

Any suggestions on how to solve this problem would be gratefully received, as the computer is pretty useless at the moment.
