Dec 30, 2011I changed this in the registry some time ago to prevent my child from messing with it. Now I can't remember how I did it. It's not corrupted drivers or anything

View 3 RepliesI recently sent my laptop in for minor repairs. Since having it back, my desktop background is staying black. I can "change" it in my settings, but the slideshow is not displayed (all icons, etc. are still visible). The selected background will flash on the screen briefly if I am closing a window or minimizing to the desktop. I've looked through settings to try to deactivate this black screen, but I haven't found anything useful.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI changed my settings somehow when I first purchased my new laptop, which is running Windows 7.I wanted to turn off my desktop background and succeeded. Unfortunately, I can't get any backgrounds to display now. I have tried going into control panel and changing the background there and the icon in "personalization" changes and shows the thumbnail of the image I am trying to set as my background. However, my desktop remains black.

I can change the color of the background, but doesn't change if I tell it to do a slideshow or use a picture from my hard drive, and when I try to change the themes it only changes the look of the windows and the default sounds. I looked it up and found a few other people having similar problems

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have windows 7 on my computer and I want to make a photo I took as my desktop's background, but I want it to be a smaller size and only in the middle of the screen. Everytime I try to make it my background (even after re-sizing it) it takes up the whole space. It is possible to make it my background but only in the center of the screen and not take up the whole screen?

However, his desktop is not the way it use to be before the malware. The obvious problem being his desktop background is black and it does not change. When I try to change it in control panel to Architecture or Landscapes, nothing happens, just the color of the taskbar changes. Also, Ive noticed that his "Accessories" folder is missing.I tried adjusting settings in the Ease of Access section, but still does not work.

View 3 Replies View RelatedMy desktop background, which was a slideshow from one of my folders of photos suddenly froze on one picture which showed the top one third correctly, the second third as multicolored horizontal lines and the bottom one third as grey. I was unable to affect this in any way using 'personalize' but finally got rid of it by moving the folder of photos elsewhere and restarting. I am now only able to select a solid color. When I try to set anything else, I can set everything as I wish in the personalize window but when I click 'save changes' it reverts to solid color again. If I right click any picture and select 'Set as desktop background', absolutely nothing happens. I have tried restoring to an earlier time which had no effect on the problem.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI decided to change my background tonight and it just isn't working. I have tried right-clicking on pictures>set picture as desktop background> but this is not working anymore.
Right clicking on my desktop and clicking Personalize> Change theme and then setting it from there is not working either. The only thing that does work is setting a solid colour as a background (not too inspiring).
