Recently, I've changed my admin password and forgot already what I had typed. Now, I'm using the guest account and do not know what should I do to restore back the password as in the guest account many things can not do! So, what should I do now to restore back or to get back into my admin account?
View 2 Replies View RelatedSitting here in class and our professor was telling us admin it disabled by default in Vista/Windows 7 now for security reasons. I mentioned you can access it from a command prompt based program that comes in a bootable iso format you burn on disc.
I can not for the life of me remember what the name of that program was but a couple years ago I was working on a Win Vista system that got a virus that locked out the user by changing the user account passwords.
We Googled, found this program you burn on a CD and it brings up a menu that will allow you to reset the user account password, or log into the admin account.
I have 2 admin accounts on my PC. When I try to install a software from my 2nd admin account, it asks me for the password of the 1st admin account. But when I go to install the software in my 1st admin account, it doesn't ask for a password. My 2nd admin account was initially a normal user account, but because it kept on asking for a password each time I wanted to install a software, I upgraded it to an admin account. Yet it still asks for a password!

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am trying to change the folder properties of a applications folder from read only. I am doing this per instructions from the apps provider to prevent crashes.
When I go to change the permissions it states I need admin privileges. The only account I have on the box is the admin however I did change the name to something besides admin. The account is definitely an admin account.
I put a folder in my admin acct it also appears in the guest acct which is dangerous. I need both acct's but how can I put is only in admin. When I delete it from the guest acct is disappears from the admin acct too.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have always been running admin and even until now I run as admin. But, I have been doing a little bit of research and realize that using a standard account is a safer practice. I have never even used a standard account. Is using a standard account a better practice? Also, how does doing average task such as installing programs and updating work through the standard user account?

View 8 Replies View RelatedMy friend and I share my laptop. Recently I found out that he was watching porn on my computer. So I promptly confronted him, and told him to stop. Weeks later, he did it again. So I downloaded Norton's Safety Minder to prevent it. So this sneaky prick goes around and enables the guest account, and lo and behold, porn fest again. What can I do? I don't want to keep him off the admin account, because he plays games on here, but I don't want him watching porn on my laptop either. Is there a way to put parental settings on the guest account? I know you can disable it, tried that, he just re-enables it, then disables it before he gets off. I'm really frustrated about this.

View 11 Replies View RelatedI run Windows 7 on a Sony Vaio, and never had issues.recently I had this situation where some software doesn't run properly on my main account (admin) but only in a secondary account I had created the software is installed without problems, but then it fails to run properly as an example I have a small car speed detector which has a software to download journeys. it doesn't run as it should on the main account no matter what I try. similarly i bought a Sony Bloggie and its portable software as well as the main software that came with it don't work properly, but they do on the other account, so I (annoyingly) have to switch users, and run the software there, and then go back to my main account.I suspect some anti-virus or other stuff from my main account is "blocking" things somehow. I also had a number of instances where I get alerts like "windows cannot open this file for security reasons". I have tried to change security settings, firewall settings but nothing worked.there was a general security level that required admin status to lower, yet although I obviously am admin, windows wouldn't allow me to do.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI just had a new motherboard fitted and now find that my admin account cannot see everything on the PC. Moreover my user+admin account has lost its admin properties. Currently (as advised by the repairer) I am trying to put all my settings onto the admin account in the (defective thought it is) and have been partially successful. Still however I am finding it difficult to get some settings onto the admin account, for example Thunderbird and Skype are not working. Is it possible for me to find the settings and add them to the admin User account under C:Users ?

Can we enable administrator account or restore admin account?
So I have an HP c running windows 7 home premium. I set up one administrator (me) and four other accounts (wife and kids). Today my admin account won't load and I get the message "The User Profile Service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded."I can log in on any other account, but the system won't recognise my admin password if I try to do anything such as create a new admin account or even (gulp!) edit the registry.I don't seem to have a recovery disk for this machine and I can't create one without an admin password

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have enabled the hidden admin account in windows 7 and I picked up a virus...it won't let me do nothing...I have tried installing antivirus but it keeps giving me an error message that says the application I am trying to open is infected and it won't open it....
now I can log into the other account and work fine, however these accounts do no admin priviledges!
so my question is can I delete the current hidden admin acct and recreate a new one? or is there anyway around my problem, basically how I can I restore the account back to normal.
So my creepy stalker over obsessive bf got onto my laptop while I was away and put in some kind of hack CD into my laptop and created his own 'virtual' account that he could log onto and delete the password off of my admin account. He went through all my stuff, found nothing, and changed my password. I cracked my password and the admin account he created with his CD thing, and the 'delete account' option is not showing in the user control place. I am pretty experienced when it comes to computers and all of that stuff but this account will NOT delete. I've even created new accounts, added passwords, made them admins, and I can delete those accounts.
So his special little account is really bugging me and I am at my wits end of busting his computer just because he thinks its ok to go through and change my things.
how to delete the account , its bugging me , and how to make sure he cant get on my laptop account again.

View 15 Replies View RelatedI basically had 3 accounts on my computer, one being "Administrator" (w Admin rights), one "test" (Standard User rights) and one more "User" that is the one I use most frequently (with Admin rights). When I last used it last Friday the User account was still present and all my programs were working fine.
However, when I came back to office today, I found that the User account was missing from the welcome screen, and only the "Administrator" and "test" account were there. Somehow, I could not login to the "Administrator" account. When I logged into the "test" account, all the program shortcuts were blank (Firefox, Adobe Reader Etc) and only IE and the default windows programs would work. I suspected that there might be a virus, but I couldn't install anything because I did not have the admin privileges.
My question is:
1. How do I get back into my admin account?
2. is there any way to install anti-virus programs (by going around the admin account) to solve this issue?
I'm basically stuck with a standard user account and I can't do anything with it. I tried using System Restore on the Standard account, but when I click "Open System Restore" nothing happens.
I have Windows 7 Home x32 on a laptop and I want to make a admin account and hide it from the user screen, I not only want to hide it but I want to be able to "load it" from the log on screen if I want (no CMD commands on the user accounts to use it) is this possible with 7?
Before on XP I had a hidden admin account and all I had to do was CTRL+ALT+DELETE and it would bring up my account, with windows 7 it doesn't seem to work this way. Now to be 100% clear, I don't want the default admin account (for trouble shooting) all I want is a second admin account that if needed can access user accounts on my laptop from the log-on screen by hitting some combination of keys.
I've been having a lot of trouble with my computer and have only just sorted out a problem saying my copy of windows is not genuine (when it is) and I have been getting another problem with that. This concerns Windows 7 logging me into a temporary profile when trying to access my main admin account. It started off happening quite infrequently, and I was able to get onto my main account with a few system reboots. But now I can't get into my main profile at all.

So I only have one account on my computer and its my admin account and when I log on it say user profile service failed to log on. I've read a bunch of stuff online and so far nothing has worked for me. I really need to solve this problem so I can get back to using my computer. I don't have any system backups so I need to be able to solve this without one. When I open my computer in safe mode I get an error that says c:windowssystem32configsystemprofiledesktop refers to a file that is unavailable. I cant get into cmd mode in regular safe mode but I opened safe mode with cmd and put in a few different things online I found, one was net user administrator /active:yes and the other was something similiar but with no at the end. Both cmd's were accepted but they did nothing.
