Cannot Run .Net Framework Related Programs (Visual Studio Crashes)
I have just received a brand new Dell XPS 435 PC. I have just installed Windows 7 x64 Ultimate and Installed all Windows Updates. There is a problem with .Net related programs.
- I started by installing SQL Server 2005 x64 Client Tools (SQL Server Management Studio). The setup program crashed while installing the client tools. I checked the event log and there are errors reported by the .Net Runtime Optimization Service. I uninstalled SQL Server 2005.
- Then I installed Visual Studio 2008. When I start Visual Studio, it crashes during the splash screen.
- I found out about Aaron Stebner's .NET Framework Setup Verification Tool (http://blogs.msdn.com/astebner/pages/8999004.aspx). I ran the tool and it reports that the .Net Framework 3.5 SP1 test fails. The log reports this error:
[10/14/09,15:23:17] ****ERROR**** File C:WindowsMicrosoft.NETFrameworkv3.5Windows Presentation FoundationNPWPF.dll is not installed on the system
(Let me know if you need the full log.)
- There are a lot of errors in the event log. They are about mscorsvw.exe crashing and about the .NET Runtime Optimization Service failing to compile some files.

Visual Studio Not Compatible With Win7 ?
After using Windows 7 RC for quite a while in a virtual machine, and finding it to my liking, I chose to run the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor (beta) on my host system, currently running Vista Ultimate x64 (and quite stably). The Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor reported the following programs I have installed will be incompatible with Windows 7: - RAdmin Server 3.3 - Photoshop Elements 4.0 - Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 Standard Edition - ENU Famatech is working on a Windows 7 compatible version of RAdmin and expects release in a few weeks. Photo-shop Elements 4.0 is ancient and I couldn't care less about it These two are no big deal. But... Visual Studio 2008 "might experience minor issues"? What gives? THE Microsoft development system itself is incompatible with Windows 7? Does this seem rather strange? Is this a specific compatibility problem with the x64 version? For what it's worth I've been running Visual Studio 2008 in the Windows 7 (32 bit) virtual machine without problems.

Visual Studio 2008 Compatibility
I have been working on a project in my spare time for about 2 years now upgrading VS2005 to VS2008 when it became available to me and everything has been working great until i installed windows 7 rc x64. Now when i load the project everything loads fine, even the form containing the rich text control. FYI there is a very good reason why i am using such an old ocx rather than newer richtext control. either way when i try to play the project i get unregistered control errors everytime but only for that form. i restarted and went back into vista ult. x64 and played the same project and it works great. Also to save confusion i have transfered the needed file(s) to the system32 dir on the windows drive i have also registered them to the system.

Visual Studio 2008 Express Edition Install Error
I have tried the web installers of C++ and C# IDEs, as well as downloading the full Visual Studio Express ISO and installing from that and I get the cryptic error: "A problem has been encountered while loading the setup components. Canceling setup." Any tips on installing this? I did a little searching and others had issues with a VS hotfix and a silverlight hotfix causing them problems installing VS, but that was on Vista. I do not have any VS hotfixed installed, but I do have silverlight installed.

Net Framework 2.0
Cannot run my Lexmark productivity Studio. When I try to open it I get a notification that I need to download net frame work 2.0. (running windows 7 64 bit) EVERY download Microsoft has for 64 bit net frame work 2.0 will not install. I have uninstalled the Lexmark printer, tried every version of 2.0 and still cannot get the Lexmark Studio to run. When the printer was first installed , the Studio program worked. The error would pop up , I would clear it and then the program ran. I run the troubleshooter and it says the program is incompatible now. I have tried running it in different compatibility modes with no luck. Tried Lexmark support and so far they have been no help. can any one help me?

Issue With Net Framework 3.5.1
When I go to Control Panel - Programs - Turn Windows features on or off, Net Framework 3.5.1 does not have a checkmark. Upon expanding it, I find that "Windows Communication Foundation HTTP Activation" "Windows Communication Foundation HTTP non-Activation" are by default unchecked for me. When I check them, I get the following message: "An error has occurred. Not all of the features were successfully changed." When I click ok, I says it needs to restart to apply the changes. After restarting and going back to the same places, the above two boxes are still unchecked. Any information as to why this might be and what can be done to ratify the situation would be most welcome. I need to open a program which requires Net Framework.

Installing Net Framework 3.5 +
Question concerning Net Framework. I am running Win7 RC x64 and I just downloaded a program that says it will need Net framework 3.5. Is that already a part of Win 7 RC or do I need to download and install it. I notice in the software downloads on MSDNÂ there is even a net 4.0. Would that be backward compatible with apps that want net 3.5?

.Net Framework Issues
I downloaded and installed windows 7 (i did the upgrade from vista, not a clean instal) upon its release last night, and now when i start the computer up i get an error that says i need the .NET Framework 2.0. I looked through the computer and i have version 3.5.whatever. This is pretty frustrating. Additionally, i get an unknown error when i've tried to install windows live, both via windows update and when i dl the .exe from the website. i am not sure if the two are related or not. I did the student discount if that makes any difference.

.NET Framework 3.5 Repair
I have a Win7 64bit system and use VS2008 daily. Today VS2008 is not doing a number of things and I get the message "Failed to create .NET Frameworks Property Grid component. Please verify...". This appears to be something broken in .NET. Does anyone know how to rebuild or repair .NET 3.5 on a Win7 64bit machine? Or anyone else had this problem? The ony recent updates done to the machine was KB972407. Could that be the cause?

Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Missing
I recently upgraded Vista Home Premium 64-bit to Windows 7 RC 64-bit. When my computer first starts up I get a message saying I must install Microsoft .NETFramework Version 2.0 to continue. I already have .NETFramework 3.5 from Windows7. I tried downloading NETFrame 2.0 and I get this message  "does not work on Vista Operating System." Finally, I tried the 64-bit version of .NETFrame 2.0 and still to no avail. Also, whenever I try to open Lexmark Productivity Studio I get the message that I need NetFramwork 2.0 to continue. Is this an OS error? Do I need to reinstall Windows 7?
