Can't Open Html File In IE
Nov 29, 2010
I have new computer, widow 7 64bit, IE 8.
I have lots of html files (index.html) but I can't open them in IE, which is my default internet browser. I have to right click it and select open with and choose either Firefox or Google chrome.
I can open any web site in IE, it is just the html files!

I am doing some data entry and would like to know if instead of having to hand do every part and make a new template each time if I can just somehow convert the file (PDF) into a html (Dreamweaver) file??

I have a 80MB HTML report and I don't know how to open it.
I tried Firefox and IE but they both can't handle the whole file. On IE it says "Done" but it stops working just when I want to scroll(or click on the window).
Firefox I could scroll for about 2 seconds before it stopped responding and I had to kill it.
*Okay all of a sudden IE successfully finished loading the HTML file and I can now scroll around the file but it is so slow and unusable. I am now trying to search in it and it is stuck again. I mean it will probably work, but it is too much to wait. *Again, it took about 1-2 mins to finish searching and output marked results through all the file.

I've set up Outlook 2007 to compose new mails in HTML which works fine when using the New Mail button but when I try to send a file by right-clicking it and choosing Send to Mail Recipient it defaults to plain text and I have to manually select HTML in the Options tab on the ribbon.

this is one of those things that makes me pine for XPP.I do not know what folder or group to post this in so if the Mod knows and can move there, so be it.My Ultimate x64 rig - clean and fast for the most part: All I needed to do was cut a very small 153kb *.htm file and paste it to a different folder. should have been instantaneous, right? Wrong! The system looked for all the world like it was going to hang Explorer!the dialogue box that normally you would see on mass moves of many large files pops up, and hangs on calculating......" interminably while I sat there just stunned.there was NOTHING running on the system - not even a browser. Finally after about 2 full minutes, it did the job what on earth causes this?? How would i go about diagnosing?

I have a small network of six computers. Five of them run XP and I just added a Windows 7 machine. I've got a Microsoft Access 2003 database that all of the computers share that is hosted on one of the XP machines. The Windows 7 machine can access the Access database through the network just fine, as long as no one else is accessing it. However, if someone else on an XP machine on the network is using the file, it won't open on the Windows 7 machine. Doubling clicking the file on Windows 7 gives me the circling blue icon for a second or two, then nothing happens. If the XP user exits the database, then I can open it fine.

I had an unusual happening on my PC. First noticed some instability while trying to open a file from Explorer, could not scroll down to file and it was jittery. Then, every time I tried to enter on an input line, an endless string of zeros were input and I could not overide or erase. Even on Email addressees. I tried a reboot and the zeros appeared on the start up password line and I could not logon. Same thing after complete power cycle. I suspected a stuck key on the keyboard and tried a different keyboard but no help. So I tried a complete restore. At first, it seemed to have the same problem, but somehow, eventually, I got logged on and now everything seems OK. But I don't really know what caused this and fear it could happen again.

if i go to the start button to go to my computer the window will open on the first try , but say i try to go to my computer again it will just sit there and not open. the exployer window will open but not the contents inside.does not care how many times i try it will only open the window and show nothing inside , a bar will go across the top to show progress but still it will not open.if i restart the computer i can open up the my computer or just computer in W7.like right now i tried to open up the window to check my hard drive and im still waiting for it to open.this goes on on both of my computers running windows 7.all coms are updated to the fullest and im not overclocking or doing anything other normal stuff. So is there a bug or somthing that im missing , once again if i go to start , and hit computer the window will open on the first try , but if i do it to many times it will just open a window and just sit there.even further if i open it up and try to open a file it will just hang there and not open , there is no error warning or nothing.

I'm on a network where I keep my files but I'm very aware of whether or not these might be open elsewhere. From time to time at any old time of the day (randomly it seems in other words) I'll go in and try to arrange, rename, or get rid of files and I'll get "The action can't be completed because the file is open in Windows Explorer. Close file and try again". Except that the file ISN'T open anywhere.

I just got a new Samsung RC420 laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium edition OS. When I was installing a software last night, a message pops up and tells me I cannot continue installation until I close a certain program (in this case it was Adobe Updater, which was not opened at all).Today, I am trying to open "my briefcase" from a USB thumb, but a message pops up telling me I cannot open "my briefcase" as it appears a file in it is already open. But nothing else is open on my computer. It was my first time opening anything from the USB thumb.

Have a website (url) with a simple structure, starting with index.html.Whenever I update some files this works fine, but when I try to replace index.html still the old version is shown, even when I just renameit to index.htmlBAK.I suppose it's some sort of refreshing thing, but I can't seem to find an option in Firefox 11 nor in IE.

My system is Windows 7, 64bit edition. When I save a page from the Internet, HTML icons appear on my system (in Documents or Downloads) as blank Notepad icons, whether I use Firefox or IE8 as the browser. I have rebuilt the icon cache (IconCache.db) twice, but the problem remains. I notice others have had this problem. Recently I installed Word 2003 with appropriate Office 2007 security updates, requiring further security updates to Microsoft Visual Studio. I believe this problem appeared after these installations.

I've had a Dickens of a job trying to get AutoRun to work on a DVD containing HTML files. I've written various versions of AutoRun.INF ("Open=..."; Shellexecute=...") and so on. In desperation I built a Start.exe file in Flash and that worked, but I need my client to have the disk run automatically. I searched the web and eventually found this: How to Enable / Disable Autorun for a Drive (using Registry). Excellent - it worked!

I work at an attorneys office and we subpoenaed a surveillance video from a local gas station. They sent us a CD with a file titled "viewer.bat", but I'm not sure what to do with it.
When I try to open it I receive the error message "viewer.bat not a valid Win32 application". I'm also not sure how a .bat has anything to do with a video file (unfortunately I have no experience with .bat files).
There are is also a folder on the CD called "disstech" and it has three folders in it called "bin", "dis" and "log". What am I working with here?

So I did but even though I have Adobe Reader #10 installed it, of course, is not on the list of programs. Then, there is nothing to click on to add a program.
