View 1 RepliesI often want to send an email attachment from my desktop or other directory. When I right click on the file, and click send to email recipient, i get an error telling me no email program is associated to perform this action.I don't have any stand alone email program s installed. I strictly use web based email (gmail & hotmail) as my mail programs. I do not wish to install a stand alone program such as outlook or Thunderbird. How can I associate my request to email to a recipient to automatically go to my web based email platform (gmail or hotmail) and send the mail?I cant seem to find a hack or a small program to install to tell Windows 7 to use my web based email as my program!

View 1 Replies View RelatedThe control panel Default Programs options only work for programs that Windows 7 admits exist (with some VERY strange omissions, like MS Office) but it is easy to work around that by using windows explorer to let you associate any program that you can browse to with any file type that is already on your system.
BUT how to you associate a new "protocol" with a program (specifically Internet Explorer). My problem is that I have one email provider that automatically changes every incoming email hyperlink from http://etc to blockedhttp://etc
With WinXP and Outlook Express there was no problem because clicking on the link would automatically open IE8 which would of course fail to open the site, but I could easily click into the address bar and delete the "blocked" from in front of http
Now I'm running Windows 7 and Windows Live Mail and I can't get the links to open anything. When I click on the link, I get an error message "There is no probram associated to perform the requested action. Please install a program or, if one is already installed, create an association in the Default Programs control panel."
I have tried each of the functions under Default Programs and none of them will let you enter a NEW association. I found the one that says Internet Explorer is associated with http:// and https:// but there is no way to add any new protocol. Unlike filetypes you can't work around the protocols by using explorer.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just had my HP dv5 laptop (2 years old) updated with Windows 7 from Vista Premium. Like everyone else I have no email and lost, it looks like, many emails on the old server. When I see all the answers about changing files, and .dll. and .exe, and all that I am more lost than ever. I don't know all this stuff and I'm really bothered that Microsoft came out with this mess.
View 1 Replies View RelatedThe users here can't stand WLM with its over-busy interface and buried everyday functions and so I found a nice simple email prog called Sylpheed. It is very easy to use and quick. It works fine with one exception. It is not listed in default program options ( like it didn't exist) and so if you try to email out of an app, you are told no program is installed.
View 2 Replies View Relatedmy Windows 7 64-bit computer acted oddly (after it accidentally got unplugged while on, tho not sure that's what did it). now when i boot i get as far as the windows 7 logo starts to show, then i get that it can't boot.i changed nothing that i know of.repair says it can't. restore, which only lists points from 3 days ago, doesn't work. i did a memory test. it was fine.am i doomed to do a clean re-install of Windows 7? btw, if i get that Windows 7 logo, and also a stage where it says it is loading files, that means it is reading from my hard drive?
