I've just re installed windows 7 onto my lap top worked fine before but this time it has removed the wireless driver. The lap top is a Packard bell easynote and about three years old. I have contacted Packard Bell who have said they ony have the drivers from upto two years so no chance getting the driver form them also tried PC World with no help therr.
I just replaced the internal HDD on my laptop with a SSD using a freshly made image from W7 Backup and Recovery. When it completed, I found that the D partition had not been imaged because I did not check for both C and D partitions be included in the backup--on in any of the earlier backups.
What is the best way to reimage the installed SSD so that the files on the D partition will be included? I have partial backups of most of those files on an external HDD, but they are not complete.
I need to reinstall the OS and the drivers. The problem I am having however is that the startup repair doesn't run and the startup gives me a bluescreen (of death ). I have tried to use both discs (OS and the drivers respectively) in the system however they eould not run as the computer crashes every time I boot normally. I was originally trying bleeping computer to solve my Zeroaccess trojan problem however I took it to thinkgeek to see if there was a potentially safer way to remove it, they instead removed about my entire OS. If there is any way I can reinstall everything without any downloads that would be just amazing right now.
I Took My laptop over to my friend's house The other day, and needed to print a document to give to him. I was connected to his wifi, and he has a wifi capable printer. I went to the "Network" Folder and clicked on his printer. Windows 7 automatically installed the driver, it worked flawlessly. Later After I went Home, I decided to remove the printer, since that was a one time event. I went to remove the device from devices and printers, and after I removed the device, I refreshed the list, and it reappears! It's Not In The Device Manager However My Printer Is.The Photosmart is mine, the OfficeJet Is His. Is There Something Else I Can Try?
I removed my old HP DeskJet printer from the system because of tests.
If I look in "Devices and Printers" it doesnt show up any more as expected.( also all virtual printer programs/plugins which I had installed dont show up any more if I click e.g. Print in an editor program... )
I also successfully deleted the printer in the shared printer list I get when I run "net share" in a command line.
i removed RST software by mistake although i dont use RAID i reinstalled newest version. now all atapi devices say driver missing or invalid any thoughts??
I accidently launched ATI technologies uninstall.it showed some package failure but its gone from the programs n features of control panel.. till now there's no abnormality in my laptop resolution but ATI thng is removed.
Ive had XP 32 bit SP3 on one partition, 7 Ultimate 64 bit on another, and all my data on a third, ive been running a dual boot system for some time with both OS, and earlier, i figured i never use XP any more, so id format that partition, and merge with the windows 7 one.Big mistake, i selected format disk using Acronis disk director, waited for it to restart, and i get a message NTLDR is missing, press Ctrl alt Del to restart, searched the internet endlessly, found the most common advice is to use the recovery disk to fix the bootmanager and voilla. So I:Used recovery disk: automatic fix - didnt work Used command prompt, bootrec.exe etc etc (basically following this guide [URL] - it said, "cannot find bcd" when i used "del C:ootcd" Tried resetting the BIOS Removed all CDs and floppys Now the message has changed to BOOTMGR is missing, again, tried using the recovery disk: didnt work, the old XP partition was left "half formatted" from acronis, as i was never able to restart and finish the job.Right now i am using the win7 disk to format the old C (XP) partition and install a copy of win7 on there just so i can get into an OS and use EasyBCD to fix my bootmgr, then hopefully get rid of the "temporary" win7 partition.I sort of got it all working, and then i used disk director to make my windows 7 install the primary drive, and active. that worked fine... then i made the old OS partition change from primary to logical, hoping to then reformat it and merge with the current OS partition, now here is when i ran into trouble.Upon reboot, I could not get into my OS again, this time i just get a blinking underscore. I ran recovery disk, automatic recovery didnt work, Ran ChkDsk on C: E: drives (OS partitions), Errors on the E: drive (this was the old OS drive, nothing on it so i used DOS to reformat it... that all went well)
I tried to recover bootmgr again, didnt work, so i tried to install 7 on the freshly formatted drive, i get the message "windows could not prepare the computer to boot into the next phase of installation" "run ChkDsk on C:" I run chkdsk on C and it says its fine... Try to install again, i get the same message. Now when i turn my computer on i get the message "A disk read error occured, Press Ctrl Alt Del to restart"
EDIT 2: Tried re-formatting, windows 7 wouldnt install again on the old partition, so i tried installing windows XP, now the error has gone back to NTLDR is missing press CTRL ALT DEL to restart, I tried running recovery console off XP CD, it said it rebuilt the bootmanager, and is detecting Windows XP, but still... not starting. Done some more stuff - this time DISK READ ERROR, seems to be rotating between these error messages.
I have just re-activated my Incredimail programme. The "MyStart" and "Babylon" browsers have appeared and I am not able to eliminate/remove or disable them from either Mozilla Firefox 14.0.1 Google Chrome or I.M 9. They do not appear to be actual Malware, but they hijack my Google.
To put it shortly, I have that utility called advanced system optimizer and I performed a scan to find duplictaes on my partitions. It resulted a cluster of 10000 files. Ther are all kind of files and many are founded on several locations. I dont know if its safe to remove them and which exaclty should I remove( one from each group all etc). What put me on doubt even more is thati saw files bot located in c program data and in c users so I want to ask if its normal to have them simultaneusly in thse locations?
I am having a really annoying problem with IE8 and Windows 7. All of the text in my IE8 window is in italics! I think the cause may be that somehow my Arial.ttf got removed from my fonts folder? Attached is a screenshot of my install Arial fonts. Are these all I should have or am I missing one? If I am missing an Arial font then is there some way I can get it and install it?
I wanted to update my chipset/LAN drivers for my mobo because I got some strange issues in my network.
Let's start from the begining. There are 2 computers in lan, one running windows 7 and the other on XP. While ago, net provider cut me up for like 4 days and since then I couldn't get my windows 7 to connect to lan. It said there was come connection issues and it couldn't find any solution for that (yellow triangle appeared next to the "LAN monitors" icon in tray). I couldn't connect even to the local network while XP comp connection still works fine, i'm writing from it now.
So I ended up doing this stupid thing, "updating chipset/lan" drivers for my mobo. Firts I wanted to remove old driver as I used to do it on my old XP - driverSweeper in recorvery mode. When I rebooted system it was too late. Blue Screen flashed in front of my eyes while startup animation was playing and the computer resets. Later I found out it said 0x0000007b. Nothing I could thing of helped to fix it. No restore points were taken (no auto, no manually done by me, oh you stupid), WinRE with fixing tools, startup fix, memory thing - nothing.
Mother board isn't in fact broken or something, I still can run my Ubuntu LiveCD. I managed to burn WinRE thanks to that. Even though it was the same damn thing as on the Windows 7 installation disk.
Is there any hope for this issue? Only thing I know is that my system is missing Chipset drivers and it can't manage to fix by itself.
i wanted to install xp since there were some program glitches in win vista and 7. now when i boot, it doesnt give me the option to boot into Windows 7. it was gone.i created a separate 20gb partition on the same hd as my Windows 7 and installed it onto that.should i repair my Windows 7 os and delete the xp? now i removed the xp partition and now it has no os to boot into.
I have previously started a thread asking a question about why external drives cannot be safely removed due to being either in use by another process or wording similar to this.I have now searched this forum for any previous threads relating to this problem, and also at other forums without any definitive answer as to a solution. I was previously told about a program called LockHunter which I have used to identify the system processes which stop the drive from being able to be removed.I have searched around for a few hours trying to find a solution to this problem to no avail.Does anyone know of a definitive solution that they could outline step by step here or is this another bug in Windows that they have deemed to hard to patch and therefore placed the topic in the too hard basket? Just thought I would add that I just checked the security of my external drive. This is unrelated to the previous question, but does anyone know why there would be an SID (EG: S-1-5-21 ETC ETC) named as the owner of my external drive? I have just put about 600GB worth of backup on this and prior to that it was unused.I understand that SID's can be remnants from having the drive plugged in to other machines, however the same SID which appears if I look at the owner of the root drive letter does not also appear in the first screen in the security tab under group or user names.
So today I removed Ubuntu today and now my Windows 7 won't boot, I remember a long time ago this happen and I fixed it with a line In command prop but I can't remember what the command was.
I have a windows 7 64 bit system with 2 drives that have OS on them. Every morning it asks me which one to boot to. I choose the first one (the most recent SDD I put in). I did this because I needed more room for the software we use so it is larger than the first. The problem is, when I remove the smaller SDD (that I don't boot to), it will not boot. I've gone into the bios and made sure it is booting to the SDD, it just says loading operating system ........., then, after a minute is says Boot to DVD or USB.
Gigabyte Z68X-UD3H-B3 OCZ Vertex 3 120GB OCZ Vertex 2 60GB (the one I am trying to remove) Intel Sandy Bridge 2600k 16Gb Patriot Ram
i had Windows 7 installed on my mac with Parallels. Then when that gave me problem, I took i to the i-store to deactivate so I could install the Windows 7 on my pc rather. After they took off all programms, it still is not unactivated. But the program are removed. Now when I want to activate the windows 7 on my pc, it says the icence won't allow me to.
I came across a cd-rw that is about 2 years old and has a few pictures a transferred to a different computer. I tried to erase the cd-rw and got an error that it was write protected. I then noticed it was listed as a cd-rom in Windows Explorer. I used three other burner/iso programs with the same result and the option to delete the files grayed out.
I have a Lenovo Z460 ideapad, with 4gb ram, 500gb hdd and 380m i3 processor. It's running on windows 7 64bit OS. It's working totally ok when its running. Problem occurs when the machine is shutting down. If the computer is connected to the power and when I click shut down, it shuts down normally and nothing abnormal happens, in battery mode also when I shut it down it shuts down normally and nothing odd happens. But when it's connected to the power and after I click "shut down " button and when I remove the charger from the port while it is shutting down, I mean when it shows windows 7 log off screen with the words "windows is shutting down", it freezes at that moment.
Blue colour circle keeps on moving and it never shuts down and its not switching off. It is freezed at that moment. It happens only when I remove the charger while it is in the shut down process. It wont happen if I remove the charger before or after shutting down. So I have to switch it off manually by pressing the power button for 6secs. I know its dumb and the best way is prevent this is to remove it after or before shutting down. But most of the time I forget that and I keep on removing it while its shutting down.
