Windows Mail Not Shutting Down Properly
I have noticed that windows live mail will not close properly when I exit after checking my mail. In order to start the mail app. again i have to go into the task manager and close the wlmail.exe process for the mail to properly start - is there a wrong setting or is this a glitch that is being worked on?

Computer Not Shutting Down Properly
I have a dual boot computer running Vista Ultimate and Windows 7 RC. I recently built a new computer for my wife and loaded it with just Windows 7 RC pending delivery of the full retail version in October. Both computers have a similar problem. Sometimes - but not always - after shutting down the computer using the Start>Shut Down button it appears to shut down but has actually gone into a deep sleep with a blank black monitor and will not wake up no matter what keyboard buttons you press. It will also not reboot when you hit the computer power button. The only way you can switch the computer off is to hold the computer power button down for about 10 seconds - then press it again for a normal reboot.

Windows Mail And Windows Live Mail Problems
I installed Win7 over Vista Ult 64 bit as an upgrade after getting a DVD from DELL. Immediately I noticed that there was no Windows Mail and I read in an introduction that email client is no longer provided with Windows. I need a pop3 client app in my machine and much prefer to keep the same setup, meaning I want to have Widnows Mail. There is an option to click on Windows Live Mail which I don't really like since it is web based and not that convenient. I clicked on that and opened the page in web browser. Everything was steel frozen. I could not open any boxes, including Inbox. Also the vertical scroll did not work at all.How can I get Windows Mail for my machine. I believe it should be available for download somewhere.

Importing Mail From Outlook To Windows Live Mail
This is quite a complex operation and MS doesn't actually explain how to do it so here goes. The trick is to get your email messages into Outlook Express (OE on XP) or Windows Mail (on Vista) before you can import into Windows Live mail. Then the import can be done directly. There isn't any way currently to import mail directly from Outlook to Windows Live Mail so you have to do it indirectly BEFORE installing Windows 7. 1) even if you don't use Outlook Express (XP) or Windows Mail (VISTA) you need to have them running on the same machine as your copy of OUTLOOK. 2) create (if you haven't already) email accounts in OE or Windows mail identical to those you have in Outlook. 3) Now import your messages from Outlook into OE or Windows Mail. 4) Change the Store Identity in OE or Windows mail to a disk that your Windows 7 can read (do this under Maintenance - data storage locations in OE or Windows Mail). Doing this saves you having to install Live Mail on Vista or XP 5) Logon to your Windows 7 system and install Windows Live mail. 6) Set up your email accounts 7) File ==> import==>messages 8) Chose Outlook express or Windows mail depending on step 3) 9) Browse to the directory where you stored the messages in step 4) 10) Job done. A bit fiddly but obviously MS don't want to make it easy for people to switch from Outlook Note also the "Send and Receive" function is calles "SYNC" in Windows Live mail -- confusing but there it is. If you also installed Windows Messenger you can prevent it from starting automatically at startup by going to the Orb ==>acessories==>run. type msconfig and unclick windows messenger in the start up box. There doesn't appear to be ANY method of importing mail directly from Outlook 2003/2007.

Mail To Windows Live Mail - Import Incomplete
I have - quite stupidly, as I now think - installed Windows Seven on my old Vista on my Laptop without thinking about the Mail program at all. That is: neither did I make a backup nor did I export contact lists from Windows Mail, etc. I was, however, able to import most of the stuff from Windows Mail into Windows Live Mail anyway. I took ownership of both Windows Mail folders (in C:Program Files and C:Program Files(x86) including subs 'n files, and tried the import function in Windows Live Mail - three times, I think. I can't really tell whether or not all my messages are there, yet I can say for sure that what I find in the Storage Folders section in Windows Live Mail reproduces only a part of the filing system I had established in Windows Mail. That is to say: A lot of the folders I used to have in Windows Mail are simply missing. Are the messages that used to be in there missing, too? No idea so far... they might be in the Inbox or somewhere else. To be sure, I have everything, that is: all my messages, on my webmail-account. Yet it took me forever to work out my huge filing system (including all the message rules, etc.) in Windows Mail which allows me to have more folders than my webmail account that is for some reason limited to 258 folders. So even although I know that in the end I do have all the messages on my webmail, I would just hate to have to do all that work again! Thus I'd just love to "simply" get my Webmail stuff imported as it was. Any ideas what I might have done wrong? ...what I could do to retrieve the missing folders? Alternatively: Is there any way to "simply" (I know what you're thinking...) reactivate Windows Mail in Windows 7 so that I can start over by properly exporting everything from there? I have found some related topics but did not see anyone having this particular problem. If I simply overlooked it, sorry! At any rate: I'd appreciate any help you can offer!

Windows Mail Messages Into Live Mail
I upgraded my wife's computer from Vista to Windows 7 yesterday. Before starting the process I copied old Vista info to a second drive. I did not realize that Windows 7 did not utilize Windows Mail before starting the upgrade process (dummy me!). In proceeding through the Dell provided upgrade disks, I selected Upgrade as my option. Now, I am not able to Import my old Windows Messages into Windows Live Mail. The upgrade process created a folder called Windows.old and I have my separately saved Vista info on my other drive. My question is if the old Windows Mail messages are there specifically what folder do they reside in either of the two (or both) locations, and how do I get them into my Live Mail history. Seems like there should be a way to do this, but it is not as simple as the canned instructions for importing e-mail.

Windows Failed To Start Properly - Boot Issue
I'm having trouble getting Windows 7 to boot properly. It is a newly built machine, and Windows 7 was the original operating system installed. It installed without any issues, but has not been cooperating ever since. Essentially what happens is the computer will turn on, go to my Mobo boot screen, then act as if its trying to load Windows... and then go back to the original boot screen. After a couple reboots, I'll get to the "Windows failed to start properly" screen, asking me to run startup repair (which I've done, but more on that in a second). After another couple freezes/reboots, Windows finally initializes and everything usually works fine from there. So far I have taken the following steps while trying to solve the problem: -I've updated all my drivers, both manually and through Secunia PSI. -I've run Windows Memory Diagnostics application, with no hardware defects found. -run startup repair, which asked me to revert to an earlier system setting (but, being a new build, there is no earlier setting) and then told me it had no solutions to the problem. -tried to get Windows to diagnose the problem once I do get it to boot. Again, no solutions. I can provide any more information on the issue that is necessary.Â

How To Import Windows Mail Into Windows Live ?
I have tried to import my Vista Windows mail box into Windows 7 Livemail on the 4 betas that have been available on the net. It has been afailure each time. At least not the way I would expect.I exported the messages - sent, draft, deleted, inbox - to an USBdevice. I then imported from the USB device into Windows Live mail. Toexport 30,000 messages takes about 3 hours. When the import to Livemail, say the sent items, the new sent items are now imported into afolder 3 levels down, Same for deleted items, etc, Why?

Windows Mail Issues
I am helping someone upgrade from Windows Vista Home Edition to Windows 7 Ultimate on a 2-3 year old computer. Things went fine for the most part. She has email ID with MSN (xyz@msn.com)Â using POP services (instead of web)Â and was using Windows Mail as the client. After the upgrade, we downloaded Windows Live Mail (as Windows 7 warned about Windows Mail being not available) and it migrated the account information fine. However, it created a MSN account (containing all the right information) and the Inbox contained messages from this morning (newly downloaded) and messages before Feb, 2009. All the messages from March 2009 to this morning was missing. Under Storage Folders (different than the MSN folder looking thing), Inbox contained many messages going from April 2009 and earlier. Many read mail was marked as unread. What is going on here?

Windows Live Mail
I'm new to Windows live mail, so maybe this is normal, but to me it's a pain. I have a Windows live account, a gmail account, and a school account (which is actually another gmail account) I am using Windows live to access all three. What bugs me is when I receive email to either gmail account, it also goes to my Windows live account. So if I delete an email in my gmail box, I have to turn around and go delete the same one in Windows live. I want to access all three, but at the same time have only email in my live account that was specifically sent to my live account. Why do I think the "sync" feature has something to do with this, can u disable it??

Windows Mail Or Equal
So I have a little problem... When I used xp, I had outlook express. When I used vista, I had updated version of it, "windows mail". Now I can't have windows mail or any updated version of it to Windows 7? I've heard that MS stopped supporting windows mail / outlook after they released their windows live mail thing. But the problem is that now I have about 4000 e-mails on my vista's hard drive in .eml form and I can't export them back to my email hoster's server where windows mail used to import letters.. so, what programs are compatible with .eml in windows 7? Or is it possible to have same old outlook express or windows mail back to windows 7 or do I have to stick with vista forever?
