No Pasting Into Windows Live Mail Contacts
I can not find a way to paste information into my Windows Live Mail. I copied a cell number from a Facebook conversation and tried to paste it to a record in my WLM contacts. No Dice. It seems to accept pastes into most of the other fields but phone #s, email addresses and websites are not allowed. Does anyone know if this is some kind of security setting? I poked around in the WLM options and couldn't find anything.

Mail To Windows Live Mail - Import Incomplete
I have - quite stupidly, as I now think - installed Windows Seven on my old Vista on my Laptop without thinking about the Mail program at all. That is: neither did I make a backup nor did I export contact lists from Windows Mail, etc. I was, however, able to import most of the stuff from Windows Mail into Windows Live Mail anyway. I took ownership of both Windows Mail folders (in C:Program Files and C:Program Files(x86) including subs 'n files, and tried the import function in Windows Live Mail - three times, I think. I can't really tell whether or not all my messages are there, yet I can say for sure that what I find in the Storage Folders section in Windows Live Mail reproduces only a part of the filing system I had established in Windows Mail. That is to say: A lot of the folders I used to have in Windows Mail are simply missing. Are the messages that used to be in there missing, too? No idea so far... they might be in the Inbox or somewhere else. To be sure, I have everything, that is: all my messages, on my webmail-account. Yet it took me forever to work out my huge filing system (including all the message rules, etc.) in Windows Mail which allows me to have more folders than my webmail account that is for some reason limited to 258 folders. So even although I know that in the end I do have all the messages on my webmail, I would just hate to have to do all that work again! Thus I'd just love to "simply" get my Webmail stuff imported as it was. Any ideas what I might have done wrong? ...what I could do to retrieve the missing folders? Alternatively: Is there any way to "simply" (I know what you're thinking...) reactivate Windows Mail in Windows 7 so that I can start over by properly exporting everything from there? I have found some related topics but did not see anyone having this particular problem. If I simply overlooked it, sorry! At any rate: I'd appreciate any help you can offer!

Unable To Import - Windows Live Mail
Is it just me or are you not able to import accounts into Live Mail. I have just done a fresh install for Win 7 RTM (was on RC) and I exported my mail accounts beforehand using Live Mail using the export option from the menu. However, upon reinstalling there is no import options for accounts only Messages?? Why have an export option without having an import option... Is there a way around this.

Import From Outlook To Windows Live Mail
I downloaded the new wdos mail program. After discovering there was no way to import my contacts, old emails, calendar from Outlook, I removed the program. Has anyone else experienced this problem, or have I missed something. Would like to try the new mail program to see if it's an improvement.

How To Import Windows Mail Into Windows Live ?
I have tried to import my Vista Windows mail box into Windows 7 Livemail on the 4 betas that have been available on the net. It has been afailure each time. At least not the way I would expect.I exported the messages - sent, draft, deleted, inbox - to an USBdevice. I then imported from the USB device into Windows Live mail. Toexport 30,000 messages takes about 3 hours. When the import to Livemail, say the sent items, the new sent items are now imported into afolder 3 levels down, Same for deleted items, etc, Why?

Live Mail, Calendar And Contacts
I'm currently using WLM as my email client with my ISP's email account and not signing in to my MSN account. I can import contacts and the like but their birthdays don't appear in the Calendar unless I sign into MSN and then only the contacts' birthdays' that I have in MSN appear in the Calendar. So if I don't want to use my MSN account with WLM then I have to create the Birthday calendar manually... This is my gripe with WLM, it "encourages" the end user to use a Live mail account or all the features in WLM don't work. If I'm wrong about this could someone explain how to get non MSN contacts birthdays to appear in WLM calendar.

Importing Outlook Express Contacts To Live Mail
I've read the other threads regarding my problem, but still can't figure out what to do. I backed up my files before installing Windows 7, and have an "Outlook Express" folder. However, I can't figure out how to import the contacts I had saved in my address book in Outlook. The Outlook files are in .dbx format, so I am unable to open them. Does anyone know how I can even access the files so I can see my contacts and copy them down? Importing them would be ideal, but I'll take whatever I can get.

Live Mail / Calendar Import
Yesterday I moved to Windows 7 on my primary computer. I had been using Windows Mail and the Vista Calendar. Since Windows 7 doesn't have that I moved to Windows Live apps. I can't figure out how to import my calendar from Vista though. It seems like there must be a way. Does anyone know how?

Importing Mail From Outlook To Windows Live Mail
This is quite a complex operation and MS doesn't actually explain how to do it so here goes. The trick is to get your email messages into Outlook Express (OE on XP) or Windows Mail (on Vista) before you can import into Windows Live mail. Then the import can be done directly. There isn't any way currently to import mail directly from Outlook to Windows Live Mail so you have to do it indirectly BEFORE installing Windows 7. 1) even if you don't use Outlook Express (XP) or Windows Mail (VISTA) you need to have them running on the same machine as your copy of OUTLOOK. 2) create (if you haven't already) email accounts in OE or Windows mail identical to those you have in Outlook. 3) Now import your messages from Outlook into OE or Windows Mail. 4) Change the Store Identity in OE or Windows mail to a disk that your Windows 7 can read (do this under Maintenance - data storage locations in OE or Windows Mail). Doing this saves you having to install Live Mail on Vista or XP 5) Logon to your Windows 7 system and install Windows Live mail. 6) Set up your email accounts 7) File ==> import==>messages 8) Chose Outlook express or Windows mail depending on step 3) 9) Browse to the directory where you stored the messages in step 4) 10) Job done. A bit fiddly but obviously MS don't want to make it easy for people to switch from Outlook Note also the "Send and Receive" function is calles "SYNC" in Windows Live mail -- confusing but there it is. If you also installed Windows Messenger you can prevent it from starting automatically at startup by going to the Orb ==>acessories==>run. type msconfig and unclick windows messenger in the start up box. There doesn't appear to be ANY method of importing mail directly from Outlook 2003/2007.

Windows Mail Messages Into Live Mail
I upgraded my wife's computer from Vista to Windows 7 yesterday. Before starting the process I copied old Vista info to a second drive. I did not realize that Windows 7 did not utilize Windows Mail before starting the upgrade process (dummy me!). In proceeding through the Dell provided upgrade disks, I selected Upgrade as my option. Now, I am not able to Import my old Windows Messages into Windows Live Mail. The upgrade process created a folder called Windows.old and I have my separately saved Vista info on my other drive. My question is if the old Windows Mail messages are there specifically what folder do they reside in either of the two (or both) locations, and how do I get them into my Live Mail history. Seems like there should be a way to do this, but it is not as simple as the canned instructions for importing e-mail.

Can't Import Messages Into Windows Mail
I have had Windows Mail up and running since day one of installing Windows 7 but I just tried to import our messages(Inbox, Sent, Draftes ect...) into it but it doesn't see the files in the saved folders. All files and folders were succesfully saved via Export Messages in Vista's Windows Mail. I also tried finding the folders manually within Windows Mail in Windows 7 thinking I could just copy and past the messages into the files but couldn't find them(thought like vista it would be in the hidden "Application Data" folder but it was not...

Windows Mail And Windows Live Mail Problems
I installed Win7 over Vista Ult 64 bit as an upgrade after getting a DVD from DELL. Immediately I noticed that there was no Windows Mail and I read in an introduction that email client is no longer provided with Windows. I need a pop3 client app in my machine and much prefer to keep the same setup, meaning I want to have Widnows Mail. There is an option to click on Windows Live Mail which I don't really like since it is web based and not that convenient. I clicked on that and opened the page in web browser. Everything was steel frozen. I could not open any boxes, including Inbox. Also the vertical scroll did not work at all.How can I get Windows Mail for my machine. I believe it should be available for download somewhere.

Import Outlook Contacts
I've made some notes which I'll just paste in here. Vista machine hard drive crashed. Have contents on DVD. Bought new Windows 7 machine. Vista machine had Outlook. Found outlook.pst in c:usersJoeAppDatalocalmicrosoftoutlook Imported that file into Outlook on Windows 7 machine. Mailboxes and contents showed up. No contacts though. On storage DVD found contacts folder, C:UsersJoeContacts. The folder is full of contacts, in the form "Bob Smith.contact" Copied contents to exact same folder on Windows 7 machine. Outlook still shows no address book *or* contacts. How do I get those contacts to show up?

Windows Live Mail
I'm new to Windows live mail, so maybe this is normal, but to me it's a pain. I have a Windows live account, a gmail account, and a school account (which is actually another gmail account) I am using Windows live to access all three. What bugs me is when I receive email to either gmail account, it also goes to my Windows live account. So if I delete an email in my gmail box, I have to turn around and go delete the same one in Windows live. I want to access all three, but at the same time have only email in my live account that was specifically sent to my live account. Why do I think the "sync" feature has something to do with this, can u disable it??
