I have Windows 7 Ultimate on my desktop. I have encountered that the windows runs abnormal. Each time I select a program to run or just at a random time, the computer is frozen, no responses, and the hard drive led is lid constant. This can take up to 1 minute. Another example, when I am typing and is pausing a few times.I know for sure that a program is running in the background to cause this problemI did look at the process, but I do not understand.Note: it takes me 15 minutes to finish this thread.he screen shot of the processes are attachedMy desktop spec:Motherboard: ASUS M5A88-V EVOCPU: AMD FX-6100RAM: 8GBOS: Windows 7 UltimateHard drive: Seagate 320 SATA

i have bought a aspire 5252 one week ago and since ive use jdwldr, explorer, firefox, opera, chrome, skype, gimp and dreamweaver 8.the problem is upon yesterday the w7 runs terribly slow in normal mode but it does it ok in secure & secure net.I have passed the antivirus and the spybot and i have cleaned the start up removing all not necessary that i had previously checked one by one googlingthe problem persists
All was well with my computer and one fine day video playback became very laggy and choppy. Also the computer in general slowed down considerably. My first thought was that there had been a virus attack and hence I ran a thorough scan. Nothing showed up. So formatted the whole system and installed Windows 8. Nothing changed. Videos continue to be laggy and overall system performance is slow. I read somewhere this could be because of high DCP latency caused by faulty drivers. I used the original Windows 7 backup DVD given to me by my laptop manufacturer to restore to factory default. No change - laggy video with slow system performance. I used the DCP latency checker to figure out what was causing the high values I was getting and pinned it down to the WiFi driver. The latency is down but choppy video playback and super slow OS continue to bother me. I've run out of options and my patience it's wearing thin.
I recently upgraded from 32-bit Windows Vista to 64-bit Windows 7 (did a clean OEM install). Now, my Microsoft Excel 2007 runs at a snails pace. Actually, I would be happy if it ran at a snails pace since it currently is running slower than that! It's almost to the point of being unusable. Opening an Excel document that took mere seconds with my 32-bit Vista now takes minutes with 64-bit Windows 7. Saving an Excel document in Vista took seconds and now easily takes 2-3 minutes with the new OS. Inserting a pivot table when my OS was 32-bit Vista was a snap, but now trying to do it working under 64-bit Windows 7 I can walk away and go eat dinner and come back and it still won't be done inserting the table.
Is there some known compatibility problem between MS Office/Excel 2007 and 64-bit Windows 7 OS? Ive searched Google but can't find anything related to the problem I am having.
I've tried restarting the PC. I reinstalled Office. I've tried launching Excel in compatibility mode for XP and Vista. All to no avail.

My computer every so often runs very slow, mostly noticeable when I play a game or something, When the computer runs fine all games I play run very smooth and fast, but for some reason about once a month or so my computer runs very slow for a week or 2 at a time, the game play is very choppy and runs slow. Whenever this happens the first thing I always try is restarting the computer and run my anti malware programs but they never find anything and doesn't seem to do anything about this issue. Eventually it goes back to running at a normal fast speed, but I was hoping someone could tell me why it has those slow periods.

I've got a samsung 3.0 external USB drive connected to my computer trought PCIE USB 3.0 adapter and it regularly works perfectly but sometimes, when it comes to copying big files ot cutting some folders it causes the system to freeze till I restert the explorer.exe. Also there's a problem if I want to analyze the disk using disk defragmenter it freezez at 0% and I can't cancel it because it stucks at "cancelling".
I recently purchased a Lenovo Thinkpad Edge and loaded all my usual programs on it that I used on my previous computer. I'm not positive exactly when, but currently my computer will run very fast when plugged in. Then if I unplugg it to do some work in "the office" it will continue to run just as fast and smooth. However once I replug in my computer it will run very choppy and slow and it is basically impossible to use before I restart it. Once I restart it it will run perfectly again. [code]
I recently re-formatted my Sony VAIO since it was starting to run super slow. Now that I re-installed Windows 7 on it through recovery disks, it worked fined for about a day but then the problem came back. The computer is slow at bootup and runs super slow while freezing so many times. I am running it on safe mode right now and its working fine.
I just got a new broadband line installed at home today. The thing is, at home we have two laptops (one is a Samsung 5 Series Ultra with Windows 7 Home Premium x64 and the other one is a MacBook) and an iPad.
Both the MacBook and the iPad don't have any issues when connecting to the Internet. However with the Samsung laptop (which unluckily happens to be mine, both the other things are my girlfriend's ), while I don't have any troubles when connecting to the wifi network (I even have full 5 bar signal and it says I'm connected to the internet at 150 mbps), when I try to load any website (even light ones, like Google or Gmail) it takes ages for my computer to do it, and most of the times they don't even load at all.
I don't know what could it be, since when I connect to other wifi networks (like at public places, or even when I use my cellphone as a hotspot) everything runs perfectly fine. That makes me think that the problem is with the router, however both the macbook and the iPad don't have the same issue at all so, on the other hand, the issue may lie within my computer.
I've installed windows 7 64 bit on a second hard drive with vista 32 bit on the first.
I have two 2gb pc26400 kingston ram which runs fine on the vista os but with windows 7 64bit ,it's running extremely slow until i remove one of the ram sticks.
Is there anyway to solve this, the main reason i downloaded the 64bit was to use all 4 gigs.
Its running Windows 7 (64 bit) 3 GB RAM, 2.2 ghz Processor. When it starts up and reaches to the windows login point the hard drive light stays on constantly and it the pc runs extreeeeeeeeeemly slow. I notice that this problem does not happen while in safe mode. I have restored my laptop to factory settings and the only software I have installed besides windows automatic updates is AVAST anti virus
I have a PC with an AMD Athalon II x2 255 processor 3.11 GHZ, 4 gb of ram, ATI Radeon HD 5670 Graphics card running on windows 7 32 bit OS.Every time I startup the computer; whenever i try to do anything (access files or the Internet) it runs very slow and then eventually just freezes with the little blue circle just spinning around. Sometimes a browser window will open and I can access a page or a folder will open, but then it will eventually just run so slow it is practically frozen (with little blue circle still spinning).I think it might be linked to my wireless Internet, the little Internet icon in the bottom right hand task bar is just stuck searching for a signal every time i start up (even if I wait 10 minutes).I am using my laptop right next to the computer and it is picking up the wireless single fine.
yesterday i was put my computer(HP Pavillion 6) into sleep mode it was working perfectly fun and i tried to wake it back up i moved the mouse and nothing happened so i did a hard shutdown i turn it back on and apparently windows 7 couldn't be loaded so i tried to do a system repair and restore to a previous point neither of those methods worked so i shut it down again and it loaded up just fine but now it takes an extreme amount of time to load up past the log in screen first the desktop is black and the toolbar shows up after a long time and then the background and programs on the desktop show up then i can use the desktop again but it takes a very long time to load up any programs and freezes alot as well what could have happened after the hard shutdown?
My office system is a Dell w/ Win7 and it's been running fine up until 1 month ago. Then it started this odd behavior. On a cold boot it runs about 5x to 20x times slower than normal, almost as if it's just running on a single core locked at 5%. Boot time to hit splash screen is 2.5 to 4.5 minutes (normal is 30 secs). And once I hit return on my pwd the system continues to run in super slow motion. If I just force a reboot, select Boot Windows Normally from the trouble menu, the the system boots in 30 secs, logs in fine, and runs normally. My boss has told me that other Win7 computers he owns/operates are now doing the same thing.I've no idea what could be causing this. Hearing that other Win7 computers are doing it tends to make me believe it isn't a problem specific to this computer or even this small office network. There are no USB devices other than the mouse and keyboard and we've switched those out. We'd recently installed virus protection software, but we removed that and the problem still continues.
The only other thing I can think of, is that we recently installed a printer driver so the system could print to a Brothers laser printer attached via USB to a computer across the local network. And come to think of it, my system wouldn't even see that printer and allow driver installation until we plugged the printer directly into my system. After installation we moved the printer back, and changed the settings for the system to find the printer across the network. I'll look into uninstalling that driver next time I'm in the office.
Update: New day, new slow boot. This time I forced an early reboot and I got the option to start a Windows Startup Repair. I started that, skipped doing a System Restore and let it run. Finally it came back with all tests fine except the following which crashed: System Files Integrity Check and Repair , Failed , Error Code #0x490 , Time Taken = 541573 ms. So it looks like the test that checks for problems crashed, leaving me to wonder if there might still be some hidden problem. And yet reboots run perfectly normal.
I purchased a new laptop, and have been having numerous issues with windows 7, including the wireless internet being insanely slow. I've tried other wireless adapters to no avail, and every other computer in the house, be it wireless, or not runs perfectly, with the speed tests all running about the same, while this laptop runs at about 1/4 of the speed. I can only assume it's some sort windows settings, and not anything to do with the ISP or the router because of such.To add, and I don't know if this will be of any use, but while doing regular browsing, the speeds are fine, you can't really notice a slowdown. But when viewing videos or downloads, it tanks. I've noticed my download speeds start out, and stay at their max speed (about 1.1MBps) for say 5 seconds, only to sink to about 250-300KBps for the remainder.
I have been getting a request from Avast antivirus to run this file [code] So far I have denied access and moved it to chest. Is this a false positive or is it an infection? Also, a couple of days ago I was greeted by a blue screen while working on my computer. What I can remember from that blue screen is "Technical Error:"What could be the reason for this blue screen? My computer seems to lag and runs slow while performing simple tasks like copy-paste, etc.
I've installed my copy of Office XP (which works perfectly well for my purposes and I don't need any new features of later versions!), and Powerpoint 2002 runs very slowly re-drawing the screen. After selecting a "Slide design" from the view menu, it takes a two or three seconds to redraw the background if I switch between slides, type some text in a text box over the background, resize the window etc. (No delays when switching slides during a slide show though.)It works very fast on my old laptop running XP. My Windows 7 desktop computer is a Core Duo E7400 with a GTX260 graphics card (latest drivers installed) so should be about 10x faster than the laptop!
the computer I am concerned with is running Windows 7 with IE8, Microsoft Security Essentials and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. I am currently in Safe Mode with Networking without issue. The owner of the computer says that something happened earlier today while he was online that sounds like some false antivirus popup, but he's unsure. Here are the symptoms in normal mode. Every application, from moving through them to opening and closing them, runs exceptionally slow - one to three minutes to open, at least a minute to open internet pages. I noticed that, when in IE, as the pages are loading the IE page disappears and reappears. I am not very familiar with Windows 7 so I don't know if it is related. The computer seems to be getting slower as the day goes on. CPU usage is very high.So far, I have disabled many startup items that were unnecessary. I ran CCleaner and cleaned up. MBAM was run in both normal and safe mode, full scans, and found nothing. This is also posted in Viruses and Malware, but I'm unsure where it should live.
Computer runs very slow. Computer freezes randomly. Does not want to boot past windows startup except for in safe mode(SOMETIMES). IF IT BOOTS takes and an incredibly long time to get to the desktop (20-45min). Does not want to run programs. Runs EXTREMELY slowly (makes a windows 95 pc look like a speed demon.) Random restarts, restart loops, and shutdowns. Sometimes after turning on it will immediately shut off then turn back on. Keeps recommending windows repair on startup. Wants to run chkdsk, then freezes on it.Malware detection programs. Hardware diagnostic programs. registry tools. disk defrags. Driver updates. Windows updates. BIOS update. System restore. Windows repair tool. Repair installation (twice). WINDOWS 7 CLEAN INSTALLATION (twice).Exactly the same as the first day it started happening. So not only did I lose all programs and files, but my pc still runs like crap. Also, this is a higher end pc under a year old. [code]
Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit, builder version, SP 1 part of install disk.Just upgraded my case, transferred all equipment (on static mat with grounding strap to me attached to case), plugged everything back in. When I booted up, posted fine, got to login screen fine, then when it got to "Welcome" screen, it seemed to just sit with the "loading" circle constantly spinning.I can get into safe mode with no problem. Running repair with disk returned with no errors. The only thing I changed internally was -1 front usb connection, and I now have my HDD and Optical drive hooked into SATA 6 ports, before Optical was SATA 6 port and HDD was SATA 3 port. BIOS is seeing HDD and Optical at correct locations.when I loaded up safe mode, I got a message saying the computer had to be restarted for changes to take effect. All updates to Windows must be approved by me before downloading and installing.
windows 7 hang at start screen. I removed all memory and put some old memory in did not work , unplued all usb did not work unpluged every thing from psu and put is all back did not work ,so this time when i started the comp it came upto start normal or start up repair i did repair first time it just restarted to the same screen so I did it agen and finaly it started repairing and started up. I did 3 restarts .so it seems ok for now. sorry it 12;22 am I did notice my comp was getting slower to start up for a few days untill it hung today on the starting windows screen.
I have been running a very stable build of Windows 7 x64 for about a year now and I decided to update my MOBO and purchase an SSD to be my new OS drive.I've booted the DVD (2 copies) and formated both my SAMSUNG and my KINGSTON drive's and created my PRIMARY partition on the SSD. I have tried installing it 4 different times with 2 seperate disk and each time it finishes "Expanding Files" the "Installing Features" finishes instantly (a second passes and the checkbox appears next to it).
my Windows 7 hanged today after I moved my SoundCard on the PCI slot, and got Bluescreen hardware error, I tried restarting the computer, now it just hangs on Windows 7 is Loading screen.
I am having an issue booting my Windows 7 image on some custom built hardware. The issue is, we'll say 1/10 times booting, the boot freezes when Windows says "Starting Windows, and the first red pixel of the animation comes into view. After this, as per forums here, I enabled boot logging. The boot log does not seem to log anything when the freeze occurs. This makes me think there is an issue with the BIOS. This is a custom BIOS, and I am working with the manufacturer to try and see if they will send me an update, or at least do more research on this. Here are my ntbtlog.txt file results. They seem to be consistent. Should I be concerned with any of the drivers that did not load?
Outlook 2003 works fine on my computer with Windows 7 - except for one annoyance. When I first open Outlook, it loads immediately. However, when I exit (using the red X), and then try to reopen Outlook, it hangs up. When I use CTRL-SHIFT-ESC, I find two instances of Outlook running! If I end the process on the one using the most memory, Outlook then opens immediately. I am having a similar problem with Windows Media Player. Again, it's not a majopr problem but a real nuisance.
I have been having some weird problems on my laptop. I first did a memtest using memtest86 4.0 and that came up clean. I am now doing a disk check and it was progressing fine till now. the screen says stage 5 of 5 97% (82135612 of 84678825 free clusters processed) for over and hour and the HDD light is no longer on. any advice as to what I should do? I have heard that forcing the system to reboot during a disk check can ruin your system so I don't want to do that.
I've searched around the internet but to no avail. Numerous Windows applications that come with the OS, such as Uninstall a Program, View Network Status, and so on will not start when I try to run them. For example, if I go into the Control Panel and select one of them, the Control Panel window freezes for a minute or two, nothing happens, and then it's back to normal again. The selected program does not start. I'm running a fresh install of Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit. The only new things I've installed are drivers for the hardware, and Skype, and Chrome. The hardware itself is presumably not causing the problem, and it's a nice system so it's not some sort of lack of processing power that's causing it. I've already tried reinstalling the entire operating system. The user account I'm on is an administrator account. Some applications such as Device Manager work just fine.
