Windows 7 Icons On Taskbar Dont Have Correct Picture?
Aug 8, 2011
i am having an issue with my windows 7 icons not showing the proper picture on the taskbar. i recently reinstalled windows 7 ultimate. all of the programs open properly when you click them but they just do not show the proper icon. it just looks like a broken image and they are all the same.
All my icons, except the one of the thrash bin and those that represent a Word file, are white, no picture. Both on screen and in the task bar. Is there a way to get that rioght again ? (Windows 7 Home Premium)
I just reformatted my C: partition running windows 7.All my data is on the D: partition.I took ownership of all the files in D: Their is one folder I still don't have permission to open the files inside which are graphics for a website I am creating..The error message I get is "Windows photo viewer can't open this picture because you don't have the correct permissions to access this file location".so I ran the command prompt as administrator located the folder in question are ran "takeown /R /D Y /F *"It has given me full control of the files and made me the owner but still the error message comes up.
I have just got a new HP laptop with Windows 7 and have got it set up the way I want it, apart from the above problem - I either have icons with arrows and the big blue letter e or the blue and green globe icons. If, for instance, I add a shortcut to Facebook, I would expect to see the Facebook icon(white f on blue backgeound), but I don't, I get one of the above. I have tried right clicking and going to properties and then change icon but the icons I need are not there.
i keep having a strange picture flashing on windows 7 taskbar it looks like a cog with a camera or something? in the middle? every 1 minute, and it makes the page im on or what im writing go away, its so quick i cant see it properly it makes the pointer in to a circle like something is loading?
I created a few shortcuts from chrome and added them to my Taskbar for ease of use. I created one for each of my multiple Gmail accounts etc and I changed their icons to something so I can identify which was which. The shortcut's took the icon and worked fine for a short period than I noticed every time I click on the icon after changing the default icon to my new one It would change the icon back to Gmails default one.
In my taskbar earlier by pointing mouse i was able to see pic of running (opened) programs. now only the names of opoened programes appears. how to get previous settings...
I have a user who said she was in MicroSoft Picture manager and when she quit the program, it changed all of her desktop icons to look like the MicroSoft Picture Manager Icon. Except My Computer, My Network, icons. Does anyone know how that happened and how to put it backI logged into the computer as myself and the icons are okay. I also, went to C:\Users\"her Name"\desktop and the icons looks okay under that. I had her re-log in and the icons still look like MS Picture Manager.
I have recently upgraded my box from XP Pro to Windows7 Ultimate and the first thing that I noticed was the icon pictures when using the Thumbnail view.
With XP Pro, when the Thumbnail viewing mode was used a miniature picture of the actual picture represented by the icon was actually displayed on the icon. If the icon represented a folder containing multiple pictures, then the folder was divided into quarters displaying 4 micro picture taken from within that folder.
Now when it comes to the same usage in Windows 7, I find when in the Thumbnail viewing mode. ALL such icons are now depicted as a generic icon that shows a picture view of a spit of land protruding into a body of water and as such, finding a particular photo/picture is far more awkward than before.
My question: Is there a way that I can remedy this shortfall and set up Windows 7 Thumbnail viewing mode so that I can once again view a miniature of the within picture having it displayed on the actual Thumbnail icon?
I can't see my pictures, only a generic with the download number. How can I change this back to seeing the actual picture so I know what I'm choosing without having to preview each one?
Windows 7. Dell Latitude D610. I made changes in Properties (Appearance/Advanced), and somehow the task bar got huge and my icons are tiny. I've tried everything and nothing seems to work. Is there (1) some way to get my computer back to default status? (2) Which selection controls the task bar and the icons on the task bar?
When I start Windows 7 only the wallpaper shows up, there are no icons or task bar. This is a newer HP desktop computer, only 4 months old and has very little use and almost nothing loaded on it.The problem is intermittent. Somethings it boots normally with full icons and taskbar (but the problem returns in a day or two, or the next time I restart the computer).I have seen on other posts to check whether "explorer.exe" is running. Have checked Task Manager and it is.Antivirus Programs (all up to date and run several times with no issues (in safe mode))
1. Microsoft Security Essentials
2. AVG 2012
3. Malwarebytes
4. CCleaner
Have run System Restore 10 to 15 times (sometimes will restore to normal for a day or two, then problem returns, most times still no icons or taskbar).Have run
I have Windows 7 64. I have various programs 'pinned' to the taskbar, and this works great. However, if I have more than one Internet Explorer 9 window open, they often rearrange at random. The other open program icons stay in the same order, it's just within the IE9 windows that they get rearranged. For example, My Documents icon is the left most, then IE9 window 1, IE9 window 2, IE9 window 3, then a Word document window. If/when I go into one of the IE9 windows it will rearrange the order: I will still have My Documents on the left, but then IE9 window 2, IE9 Window 3, and IE9 window 1, and then the Word document will still be on the right. These IE9 Windows will randomly get rearranged throughout the day. I use these for work and would like to keep them in the same order.
I purchased a new copy of Windows 7 Home Premium yesterday together with a new Samsung 840 256GB SSD. At first boot following the install and activation all appears great. Then the system recommended three driver upgrades for my video card and Samsung printer (and one other ??) and requested a restart. This was the begining of my nightmare. The following reboots had a windows screen saver page minus icons, task bar and start. Any attemps to Alt Ctrl Del returns a black screen. Any system reset brings out the safe mode option.
I'm setting up a new computer with Windows 7 Home Premium as the OS.
My wife uses a QWERTY keyboard but I've shifted to a Dvorak. I've set up Windows 7's language selections so that the Admin and I have the Dvorak keyboard, and my wife has the QWERTY. And that's all working properly.
I've found the Windows options, change user process to shift among the three users and their S/W keyboards. Is there a way to simplify that? Can I place a copy of the two user icons (or any other button) on the task bar (or anywhere else) that would allow a single mouse click to shift between users?
This little thing has been annoying me since Win 7 came out and finally figured I'd ask if there is some hack to change it.On my task bar I have the following icons...Internet explorer | Windows Explorer | Windows Media Player | Google Chrome | Paintshop Pro x2When none of these programs are in the open state everything is fine, however when I open up Internet Explorer, it changes the normal small icon into the full blown Internet Explorer taskbar icon right in it's place, which means my task bar will often look like a bunch of long I.E. taskbar open icons, then the small icons for Windows explorer, mediaplayer, chrome and psp, followed by a bunch of other program icons that are open programs. This looks sloppy and non intuitive to me.What I would like to do is to keep all the small icons (like they were in quickbar) on the left, and any open programs to open as new full size icons on the right of all the small icons. So that I don't have a bunch of larger open program icons, followed by all the closed small icons, followed by any other open program icons.
Hope this is in the correct section. When I open word starter 2010, excel starter 2010, or even save a web page to my favorites in ie9 my desktop icons and task bar will go white and back to normal like a refresh or something. It happens on my desktop and laptop, both have windows 7 pro, one is 64bit and other 32bit, all updates performed. It has been something i have ignored since i dont do those tasks daily but recently i have and its getting annoying now, whats funny is the white/refresh period seems to take longer on my intel 2500k desktop vs the amd athlon neo netbook. Since it occurs on both systems i dont think its a gpu driver issue, besides the desktop one has had different drivers on the gtx570 with no change.
I'm never the one to ask, but I don't know what happened. I tried looking online but I couldn't find any solutions. It seems like all my icons (including folders) are not showing up in windows explorer, taskbar, or the desktop anymore. This isn't too big a problem, but navigating through my picture library is very complicated without thumbnails. My PC is pretty heavily customized. I also cannot open the start menu from the taskbar anymore. I click the startorb and nothing appears. Screenshots
Also, while I was uploaded the three screenshots to imgur, the icons showed up on the popup to windows explorer.
Yesterday I've formatted my PC and installed Windows 7 again. Everything is fine, however, some tray icons are missing, like Comodo Firewall and Realtek HD Audio tray icons. Could this be related to some Windows Updates or something? I checked Task Manager and the program processes were running (Comodo/Realtek), just the tray icons were missing.
Today, all the icons on my taskbar are gone. No pinned programs, even when I open programs, there are no icons on the taskbar, only the start button, and the notification area are in the taskbar.I have tried rebuilt IconCache.db. And I also tried booting into safe mode, but there are no icons on the taskbar in safe mode neither
I just bought a Gateway computer yesterday with Windows 7 preinstalled on it, and last night I tried to wake it from sleep but when I did, it didn't show the taskbar, icons or start button. All I could see was the background. I tried the "ctrl+shift+esc" method to fix it, but when I hit those keys nothing happened. I'm at a loss, and I don't want to return the computer!
When I start up my desktop and click on an application (or anything else) it will open, however the icons on the taskbar do not highlight. Consequently, whenever I want to access the app, I have to use winkey+tab. It's not serious, but very annoying. Honestly, it's lead me to use my laptop more than my desktop.
So I found a cool theme and icons to go with it. I understand how to change icons and such but I am having trouble with some. (the official Microsoft icons)
Here's my situation.
So I found in the tutorials how to change the icons. I was able to change the libraries icon assuming that when had it on the taskbar, it would change the icon as well.
I was able to change the libraries icon to what I want. I created a library shortcut. then when i pinned it to the taskbar, it changed back to the default, but only on the taskbar
Also, when i try to change the wmplayer.exe and explorer.exe icon through the properties, explorer.exe crashes as soon as I apply.
I have just I am running Windows 7 64-bit and I have just installed the latest itunes on to my computer as it alerted me that I had an old version. My problem is that I have pinned iTunes to my taksbar and when I click on the icon the start the application, windows creates a new icon at the end of my taskbar for iTunes instead of simply "highlighting" the orginal icon that is pinned. iTunes icon duplication | Flickr - Photo Sharing!
