Windows 7 64bit - Internet Explorer 9 Not Working After Installing Updates
May 16, 2011
I installed explorer 9 on a Win 7 64bit system. It seemed to work well until I installed the recommended updates, over 70 of them. Now when I start Internet explorer it seems to be coming up but it leaves the main window white with no other information.
I just installed the mandatory Windows 7 system updates in early November and now my IE and Firefox cannot pull a page on any site. I have turned off my personal software firewall and reconfigured my router. My wireless devices work perfectly but my desktop does not want to work. The network icon states that the Internet is connected but won't access it.
So first I get this message when I mouse over the speaker icon(notice the red "x" on the icon). When I click the icon, Windows does a diagnostic and then this shows up.This is whats listed in my playback devices and this is with "Show disabled devices" enabled. Everything is enabled,Here is a picture of what my device manager looks like.
I've tried installing drivers for my sound card and my chipset, I tried restarting my computer, updated from my device manager, uninstalled drivers, reinstalled, etc. I've been searching online for a bit and nothing I found worked so I figured I'd give this a shot. I tried uninstalling the service pack update but that didn't work.

Windows tells me not to unplug or power off machine. But I think I have no internet connection, so how can Windows install 9 updates?
In "Wireless Network Connection Status" I saw:
IPV4 Connectivity No Network Access IPV6 Connectivity No Network Access Media (something) Disabled
I cannot connect to my wireless network. Other computers on the home wireless network work fine. This makes me suspect a failed wireless adapter card in my PC. I did not check Device Manager for a bad adapter before I ordered "Shutdown".
Can I power off the PC anyway? Will something bad happen if I do? If I shutdown and power back up, what can I do to fix the "No Network Access" problems and go on line? Troubleshoot adapter through Device Manager? Any other ideas or precautions?
I deleted my public folders a few days ago and now I can't do any updates!Windows Live stopped working as did Evernote.I don't want the Public folders and was hoping there is a way to solve this.
I have windows 7 but cannot view an email as it requires IE 8 but I thought it was already part of the windows 7. can you help this computer illiterate.
I recently installed kaspersky antivirus and scanned my system and could neither open Firefox nor internet explorer although the google chrome still works
I am trying to find a collection for all drivers needed to run my Vaio-FZ21M (original Vista-32 bit) under Windows 7 64 bit. I installed Win 7 64 bit and it works, but I have a problem with the Internet connection (connected but no information in the browser), so I cannot use at this momet Sony upgrade functions.
I'm copying and pasting my original post from SevenForums:I am certain that my Internet problems are resultant from a virus that I had downloaded. A friend and I determined that the virus was a Sirefef variation.Whenever I try to connect to any website in any browser aside from Internet Explorer x64 (Chrome, Firefox), the page will not load, and in Chrome, I get the following:This webpage is not availableThe webpage at <any url here> might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address.Error 137 (net::ERR_NAME_RESOLUTION_FAILED): Unknown error. Firefox does not give any error message, aside from stating that it cannot connect to the webpage.I have run: MBAM (found some things; removed), TDSSKiller (found nothing), Microsoft Security Scanner (found some things; removed), and SUPERAntiSpyware (found nothing). When attempting to update, MBAM displays this error: I have tried "netsh winsock reset" and a few variations, and none have worked. My firewall seems to be bugged, but I do not know how to fix it.
just did a fresh install on SSD of WIndows 7 x64 and went to install the AVG disc and it opens up in an internet explorer window. How do I turn this junk off, does it to me now with all Discs

I had a virus and so had to re-install windows 7 home premium in my laptop. Now, internet is not working. I went to device manager. There, I see a node called 'Other devices' under which 3 items appear.his is what I see.Other devices.Network controller.PCI simple communications controller.Unknown device. In their properties, therer is a similar message - Drivers for this device are not installed (Code 28)I have Dell drivers DVD that I purchased along with the laptop. But, I don't know which drivers to install.
my internet explorer was working a few days ago, then i logged off and logged back in and it wont display any pages and says if i would like to start a diagnostics test, and when i do it says everything is fine and it cant find the problem anywhere on the internet. But my internet explorer 64 bit works, my Normal Internet explorer or 32 bit is not. I am using XP not vista.
Internet explorer has stopped working, Internet explorer is restarting.windows explorer has stopped working, windows explorer is restarting. I have emailed Microsoft 3 times and they have given me MANY things to try but I am a computer tech, so I had already tried them all.It is all over the internet so my computer details should not matter. It is ALL over the Internet about this problem and no one seems to know the answer.Of course, you can format but that is not a "fix" for it or how to stop it from happening.
my OS Win 7x64 IE9 and just started experiencing a problem with connecting to the internet. The issue arises when I first connect to the internet. After a few minutes things freeze and there is no response when I move the mouse or attempt to click. Then I am abruptly disconnected from the internet. After a few seconds I am reconnected.Thinking that it may be a virus or other malware I ran MBAM, SAS and MSE along with RKill and TDSS killer. All results are negative. Just wondering what is causing this and how does one correct it.I have not added any new programs or such and the only thing replaced recently is a new mouse.
I have a new laptop with windows 7 installed and Internet Explorer 9 being used.I have checked various options thats other have posted but they do not appear to be resolving the problem.Typical example f the problem....I get an email with a link, click and the link opens within browser. If the link then has a document witin it to open (I think they are PDF'S) the browser comes up with the following message:A problem caused prog to stop working - it then asks you to close the page.
I'm having problems with Windows, every time I open internet explorer, I get the message: "Internet Explorer has stopped working. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available". I click close or X on the notice and it just keeps popping up.....I have to restart my computer to stop it. I can only get to google chrome. How do I correct this....
My default click sound won't play anymore on Internet Explorer, I recently updated it to a newer version and now that old, familiar sound won't play anymore.
I just ran combo fix and I need to understand my log results...keep getting a popup window that says: "internet explorer has stopped working" so I assume I have a worm/virus/bug...etc...
ive been having a problem with internet explorer crashing since i bought my laptopim using ie9 and i keep getting the msg saying internet explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close (i appoligize if its not the exact words). than it closes all my programs down. i dont know if it has to do with another problem i have been having while playing facebook games and watching movies using flash player. right out of the blue my game or movie (whichever im doing) freezes than either says i need to update flashplayer or it just shows a big "!" were my game or movie should be.
I have upgraded to Internet explorer 9 a long time ago. When it first came out as a matter of fact but now when I use ANYTHING that I want to print out (Like MapQuest.com)It will not print any more. I can fire up Fire fox and all printing works just fine. It didn't work even when I had didn't Fire Fox Installed. I just installed Fire Fox to try to see if it would work for my printing needs.why Internet explorer has stoped printing? Right after not printing the web page crashes also.
