Enterprise Download Page Certificate Error
Has there been any resolution to the security error on the download page for the Enterprise Edition? Its been known for a while, it seems odd that Microsoft hasn't done anything to correct it. Is it a ploy to scare away non IT pros from the download?

Warning Message For 90 Trial Version Of W7 Enterprise
I am an IT professional doing Oracle application development remotely for a client. I want to see if the business applications I am running for my client and my company work under Windows 7. What exactly does Microsoft mean when they say "We do not recommend that you install this if you are a not an IT Professional or not professionally managing corporate networks"? Is there something about the trial version that is different from the version that we will get when we purchase the OS?

Upgrade From Win 7 Pro MSDN To Enterprise Trial
I am just wondering if it is possible to "upgrade" from Windows 7 Professional (RTM, MSDNAA version) to the Enterprise 90-days Trial, and this, just by entering a "trial" serial number. In fact, I am at the Microsoft's club of my university, and I am in charge of Bitlocker / Bitlocker To Go, I have to write documentation on it, as we've been testing Ultimate RC, we got this feature, but now, we have Professional RTM which lack this feature. We managed to get very robust installations (with VPN, drivers and development tools alongside with SQL and SharePoint installation), we prefer not to reinstall/upgrade all PCs and get any risk. Son my question is: is it possible to retrieve "trial key" from the ISO we got to do something like an "Anytime Onsite Upgrade" by just modifying the serial?

Win 7 Enterprise TRIAL, Install From USB Drive Or CDs
i all I'm downloading W7 Enterprise TRIAL (90days). I have read in FAQS: Q: How do I create an installation DVD? A: Insert a blank DVD into your PC’s DVD drive. Navigate to the downloaded Windows 7 Enterprise 90-Day Trial file. Right-click the file and select Burn disc image , then click the Burn button when the Windows Disc Image Burner dialog appears. A bootable DVD is created. Alternatively, you can commercially-available or free DVD burning programs. But is possible extract this ISO and "burn" in USB drive or CDS instead of DVD? And Install W7 from USB drive or CDs?

Student Download Edition Hangs At Starting Screen
I purchased, downloaded and attempted to install the 32 bit version of Windows 7 Pro from Digital river. I tried several different installs and each one has failed. I ran the Windows 7 Advisor and the system passed all tests except for the video card will not run Aero, which I believe is a drive issue. My system specs are: Asus A8r32MVP-Deluxe MB   AMD Athlon 4800 X2   2GB RAM   ATI Radeon X1900XTX 512MB Video Card   1st Attempt - Create bootable DVD from the files downloaded from digital river.    1. Downloaded and ran the files to extract the install files to the desktop    2. Followed the instructions to create a bootable DVD using oscdimg.exe     3. Booted up the computer and booted from DVD    4. Recieved an error message that there was: CD/DVD Device Driver Missing. WHich is funny, because it had to first read that DVD in order to get that error message.    5. I gave up this route and moved on to the next/ 2nd Attempt - Install from the files from Windows.    1. Since the first install did not work, I booted back into XP and started the install process from Windows.    2. I selected the Custom install option and followed the prompts of selected my install drive    3. The process began normal until it came time to reboot, at which time the system came to the "Starting Windows" and stops. I let it sit like that for about an hour and it never changed.     4. At this point, I had to reinstall Windows XP because it would no longer boot.    5. Next attempt 3rd Attempt - Install from bootable USB    1. Using the ISO created in the earlier attempt, I created a bootable USB drive using the Windows 7 DVD/USB tool.    2. Long story short, still hanging at Starting Windows 4th Attempt - Complete reinstall of Windows XP Pro. Complete Re-Download of files from Digital River.     1. Re-install of Windows XP Pro    2. Re-download of Windows 7 Pro files    3. Hard drive check to ensure there is nothing wrong with the drive    4. Discovered an error in SMART, so selected a different drive for install. (First drive was IDE, second was SATA)    5. Started the Custom install process and selected the Up to Date option.    6. When computer rebooted, stuck once again at "Starting Windows". I read the following post:: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7itproinstall/thread/918482ef-e5b0-473c-a0f4-7eb72efccc4e  but it was no help. I am unable to upload my log to Skydrive because the installation never finishes. Unless there is a way to access them from a DOS prompt, or whatever it would be called since DOS is gone.  UPDATE: 5th Install Attempt    1. Formatted system drive using Win XP install CD to NTFS.    2. Rebooted using the USB drive and seemed to get passed the Starting Windows screen    3. Selected the custom install option    4. Got to the select drive to install to screen, and when I selected the system drive, got an error that it could not create a new system partition.  That is now 5 attempts, while reading every post I can find on the subject. Attempting one more setup using install DVD but so far still stuck on the Starting Windows screen once more.  7th time is a charm. I was finally able to complete the Windows 7 install. If anyone is interested in the numerous steps or trial and error I did, just send me a message.

Backup Giving Error 0x80070424
Having a problem with Backup. When I click the button to "Change Settings" for setting up a Backup I get the following error:"The backup application could not start due to an internal error. The specified service does not exist as an installed service. (0x80070424)"I cannot change the settings. I get the same error message if I click the "Manage space", but after the error msg is closed the Manage Space window does come up and changes can be made. I also get the same error when hit "Close" from within "View Backups" After an automatic backup was done it ended with an error status indicating that the backup did not complete (but it does appear that the backup actually did complete). This work ok after my initial upgrade of Windows7 Home Premium 64bit from Vista two days ago. Since then something has changed. Any ideas?

Network Is Giving A False Error Alert - No Internet Access
My network connection is fine and I even have internet access via ISA proxy server. But for some reason W7 is reporting my Network connection as "No Internet access" with a yellow alert icon. When I open the "Network and Sharing Center" i get a red X between the local network icon and the internet, but still everything is working fine. On wXP and Vista, everything works fine and I don;t get any false alerts, this happens only with W7. Does anyone have any suggestions how to fix this?

Vista Home Basic To Win7 Enterprise - Supported Upgrade?
I'm working with an organization that has several PCs running Vista Home Basic. We'd like to upgrade them to Windows 7, and my understanding is that the only supported in-place upgrade path would be to Windows 7 Home Premium or Ultimate. However, the organization is eligible for deep discounts for Windows 7 Professional or Windows 7 Enterprise (but not Home Premium or Ultimate). Since as far as I know Professional would not work as an in-place upgrade, would the Enterprise edition work for an in-place upgrade for Vista Home Basic?

Student Upgrade $29.95 From Home Edition To Professional Edition
I have not seen an answer to this question yet. I have Windows 7 Home Premium and I want to upgrade to Windows 7 Professional using the $29.95 student upgrade promotion. Is this possible? And if so, would it be an "upgrade" over the top of my current edition, or would it instead be a clean install? It looks like the promotion is geared towards users with XP or Vista, but I would like to try Windows 7 Professional, now that I have tested the Home edition.

Upgrade Install Win7 Using Xp Home Edition Product Code
Some time ago in one of these forums, we were told we could buy the Windows 7 upgrade and install using almost any older version of Windows by simply the product code when asked. Is this still valid? Can I repartition, format using my Upgrade Windows 7 Pro and then install and enter my old Windows XP Home Edition Product Code to validate?I would very much appreciate a reply from a Win 7 technician, if possible.

Upgrade Vista Enterprise X64 To Win 7 Enterprise X64
I'm trying to upgrade my Vista Enterprise x64 to Windows 7 Enterprise x64 by using the MSDN DVD. This is the Italian version of the Windows 7 Enterprise DVD (x64 and x86), upgrading an Italian installation of Windows Vista Enterprise x64. When I run the installer, it asks me to select between the x64 version of the OS and the x86 version. I select the x64 version. After thinking on it for a while, the installer kicks me out saying that I can't upgrade from a 64 bit version to a 32 bit version, even though I selected the 64 bit version. If nothing else works, I'll download the 64-bit only ISO from the website, but I'd rather save the hassle - has anyone else had a similar problem?

Visual Studio 2008 Express Edition Install Error
I have tried the web installers of C++ and C# IDEs, as well as downloading the full Visual Studio Express ISO and installing from that and I get the cryptic error: "A problem has been encountered while loading the setup components. Canceling setup." Any tips on installing this? I did a little searching and others had issues with a VS hotfix and a silverlight hotfix causing them problems installing VS, but that was on Vista. I do not have any VS hotfixed installed, but I do have silverlight installed.

Download Manager Error / The Server Returned An Error
I keep getting "The server returned an error. Would you like to retry?" without fail on both the 32 and 64 bit downloads. Any heads up on guidance? Is this a server issue? It's continued behavior from at least yesterday. Environment is XP x64 through IE. If you select yes, download manager immediately says connecting, initializing (with a connection rate), and then errors out all within about a second. Download b/w is >8M connection (just to point out it's not timing out from a dialup connection or anything).

Can't Download A New Copy Of The Win7 Beta
I had downloaded Windows 7 (per invite) in December, I went ahead and installed Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit around the 1st of the year. I was using it for a few months, and during that time period, the original iso. disc that I had burned, was broken, and I was unable to use it, but I wasn't worried about it, I just figured, that if I needed it again, I would simply download it. Well I had to do a complete PC restore back to Windows Vista 64 Ultimate, after I ran into a problem with my accounting software, not being compatible. I use Quicken, and I had an older version from 2004, and Windows 7 was not able to convert the files, that I had backed up to an external disk, and I needed the information, so I had to do a complete PC restore back to Vista. Now I cannot download it at all? I have a key code, so why can't I get a download, or a beta disc copy?

Rebooting Problem In Win7 When Download Updates
When is Microsoft going to put out an update to fix the rebooting problem in Windows 7 to install i had to turn PC off and then back on at every reboot stage to install and now every time it downloads updates it gives a message saying it will now reboot but it does not reboot you have to turn of PC and restart to install updates. Obviously the file which controls the reboot is corrupt or or missing in Widows 7,. so many people are saying this i cannot understand why Microsoft is taking so long to fix it. They have fixed the compatability issue and it opens automatically to install something which is not compatible with Windows 7.

How I Made A Bootable Win7 Install DVD From The Digital River Download ?
How to make a burnable iso is covered in another thread... it requires downloading a Microsoft tool and running it through the command prompt. I haven't tried that way yet, but I did make a bootable dvd another way that was very easy, in case someone feels like doing it another way. Step 1: download the Digital River download. Run the install program which will extract all the files to a directory called expandedSetup. Cancel the install program. Step 2: download Imgburn , which is free, and install it. Step 3: Go here and follow the instructions to create the bootable DVD.. tahdah! Just another method I discovered.. dunno if there are any particular advantages to either... maybe someone other than myself could say.
