Win 7 RDP W/ Firewall
Has anyone else had problems with Windows 7 (RTM) when running in an RDP session and turning off the Firewall Service, with the session being disconnected and unable to RDP back into the machine? I've got RDP set on the 7 OS to support down level version of the RDP clients (even though I'm using the newer client). I'm having to manually go to the machine and either re-enable or reboot in order for RDP to start responding again. It's almost like stopping the Firewall service actually turns it on.....

Win Virtual Startup RDP And Integration Errors
Sometimes when I start up a VM in Windows Virtual RC, I get one of the follow error messages.(1)Remote Desktop ConnectionThe conneciton cannot be completed because the remote computer that was reached is not the one you specified. This could be caused by an outdated entry in the DNS cache. Try using the IP address of the computer instead of the name.(2)Integration features have been disabledYou can log on to continue without these features. To enable the integration features, you can shut down the virtual machine and start it again.Sometimes I get both of the above messages at once. This seems to happen with I start a VM that was hibernated. If the VM was powered down sometimes I receive Could not enable integration features retry or continue. Sometimes a rety works, sometimes it doesn't.

Support True Multi Monitor RDP Session (as A Server)
We're using 3 monitor setups with both portrait and landscape monitors. I did initial testing of the new "true multi monitor" feature of RDP 7. It worked great as long as I was connecting to either Windows Server 2008 R2 or Windows 7 Ultimate (both in trial versions). Based on additional research of microsoft websites that noted that true mutli monitor remote desktop connection is support by Windows 7 Professional, Ultimate or Enterprise, we have purchased 5 new computers with Win 7 Professional. Now I'm trying to connect to Windows 7 Professional from Windows 7 Professional system and I can only get the RDC session on one monitor only. Quite frustrating. I contacted both Dell and Microsoft but neither could tell me if Win 7 Professional can host true multi monitor session. Did any of you try this? I'm trying to determine if it is Win 7 Pro limitation or some system setting that I'm missing?

Upgrade From Win Vista Ultimate To Win 7 Home Premium
I have 2 PCs with Vista Ultimate it on and I bought 2 "upgrades" (or downgrades - you decide) to Windows 7 Home Premium (I never use Bit Locker and only need English). When I bought the upgrades (Amazon.com), it stated that I can do this upgrade. However when I attempted to upgrade it stated that I can only do a reinstall. Can I purchase an upgrade from 7 Home Premium to 7 Ultimate that works at pre install oris there a work around? There is nothing I hate more about Windows than having to reinstall applications, drivers, and updating the registry.

Vista OEM + Win 7 Upgrade = Win 7 Retail?
This is not a question about the logistics of installing the OS -- I've already found out that you can do a clean install with the upgrade media. It is more a question of what I am entitled to do with my Win7 license (does it retain the OEM limitations or is it a retail version)? When I buy the Win7 upgrade am I "destroying" my Vista OEM license and creating a Win7 Retail license OR do I now own a Vista OEM and Win7 OEM license which are both tied to the same machine?  Specifically I am concerned with the following scenario: I currently own Machine 1 with Vista OEM installed on it. I purchase Win7 upgrade, so now I have Machine 1 with Win7 on it. In a year or two I plan on building a new machine, let’s call it Machine 2. I am going to take Machine 1 out of service completely or install an old retail copy of XP on it at this time. Am I licensed to install Win7 on Machine 2 OR is that license stuck with Machine 1?

Win 7 Aero Themes With Multiple Pictures Slideshow
I am having strange behavior when selecting multiple pictures for theme in Windows 7 RC. It is present since I started testing Windows 7 in Beta build 7000, and probably before. When multiple pictures are selected in event of computer shutting down, going on standby or hibernate, Windows 7 simply stops using all pictures and creates Unsaved theme with only one picture from the collection. Sounds and colors in that Unsaved theme are the same like in the multiple pictures theme. I am wondering is this is a bug or intentional, because I would like not have to manually click on the multiple pictures theme every time my computer shuts down/hibernates/goes on standby. Here is the link with picture of the problem: http://img263.imagevenue.com/img.php? image=98053_Multiple_pictures_theme_122_526lo.jpg

Vista Win Mail Conversion In Win 7
I think Microsoft really screwed up here. I see many people have had the same surprise when converting from Vista to Windows 7 that there is no automatic replacement for Win Mail and that emails and contacts are getting lost. I think Microsoft needs to somehow solve this situation immediately. I spent like over 2 hours with Microsoft customer service who kept bouncing me around and noone of them knew how to go step-by-step conversion to this so called no web Microsoft mail program. Now I wish I would have stayed with Vista, even if it did have problems.

Aero Support On Lenovo X61
I bought the Windows 7 Professional Upgrade and was running the Windows upgrade Advisor. It says your current graphics adapter wont support Windows Aero user interface. If you want to experience the benefits of Aero contact your PC Manufacturer or retailer to see if Upgrade is available. I've attached the graphics properties as a image. What should i do here ? I understand just 128 MB is more than enough for Aero. I dont why im getting this problem ? Should i go ahead and clean install Windows 7 and is there is updated driver for this ?

Install Compatibility Issue With Aero Support
I have two computers that are running Win XP Home and one that is running Win Xp Media Center Edition. Will I have any problems upgrading the Win Xp Media Center Edition? Currently I'm trying to upgrade the system with Win Xp Home. It has a Gigabyte AMD AM2 Socket (GA-M57 SLI-S4) motherboard, AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 6000+, 4 GB of ram and a Creative SB Audigy 2 ZS sound-card. I ran the windows 7 upgrade adviser on the computer and then someone suggest I also run the vista upgrade adviser as well. On both it is telling me that there is a problem with "Windows Aero Support". I've seen lots of posts stating it will run on their video card but I have not seen anything on mine and need to know if I can upgrade to Win 7 Home Premium without a problem. My video card is a NVidia Geforce 7900 GTX. Does anyone know if that card will work with Win 7? Then also it is telling me that my D-Link DWA-130 Wireless USB adapter is a problem. I went to their website and they have Vista drivers but not Win 7. Someone suggested not downloading the D-Link drivers but downloading the vista drivers and that it would work. I have little knowledge regarding Win 7 and therefore didn't know if this was good advice or bad advice on downloading the vista drivers. Is anyone here using this wireless adapter successfully with Win 7? Last it mentions that it is not compatible with the Creative Game Port. I don't know if this is something that is downloaded with my Gigaabyte motherboard recovery disc. I don't think it was something I installed but not sure. AS far as I know it is not something I'm using so it doesn't matter if it isn't compatible (at least I think it's not). I didn't know if anyone knew about this. I'm hoping anyone that has experience with any of this hardware will let me know if it is compatible with Win 7 before I upgrade it only to find it is compatible to upgrade.

Screenshots / Screen Captures With Aero Glass Support
including (always with non maximized windows): transparency at the rounded edges transparency with non-rectangle windows like a skinned media player alpha transparency behind the window titlebar drop shadows open menues that overlap the window edges the mouse cursor save to png files of course (you know, that format Microsoft didn't implement alpha transparency support for in Internet Explorer 6 and drove Web developers crazy). Taking Screen captures on Windows is a pain since Windows XP which didn't came with the ability to save screenshots with transparency at the rounded windows corners. With Windows 6 (Vista) and 6.1 (7) it got even worse because mor GUI features were introduced (see above). It is also annoying that Paint flattens and therefore damages png pictures with alpha transparency without any warning! Copying features from other Windows managers isn't enough Microsoft. You also have to _support_ it. When I see the non-anti-aliased borders of non recatangle skinned/themed Media Player windows I get sick. Is it really to much Microsoft?

Graphics Adapter Can't Support Aero On XP Computer
graphics adapter can't support aero on XP computer...i'm a bit confused about graphics adapter vs. video card. i know that this is probably a fairly basic question but i am confused as to what drivers/hardware i might have to upgrade to be able to run aero on an older XP computer. I installed a new graphics card last year on it (nvidia geforce 7300 gs) which windows 7 upgrade advisor says is compatible but on the same report it told me that the graphics adapter is not. the computer shipped with an ATI Radeon Xpress 200---i guess i'm confused as to what exactly the graphics adapter is and how i go about seeing if i can upgrade it to run aero.

Mirror Drivers Don't Support Aero Effects
I cannot enable windows Aero in Windows 7 beta. It worked on friday, and now on Monday I cannot enable it. My windows experience index is 5.9. I have a remote desktop client running, LogMeIn Pro, but I do not believe that is the problem since I have been running that remote client since I started using Windows 7 and have never had an issue with it. I tried the so called "registry hack" that enables Aero on PC's with a WEI of less than 3 but to no avail. Any ideas?
