Will Product Key For Win 7 64 Bit Business Upgrade Work With 32 Bit Install
I purchased several copies of Windows7 including the upgrade offer deal from Microsoft for Business. The upgrade CD came as a 64 bit which I will eventually install on my machine, but for the next several months I need to run 32 bit (legacy software which we are phasing out). Will the product key for the the 64 bit upgrade work with 32 bit install (I have a 32 bit Business which I have already installed on a different machine with its own product key).

Can I Use OEM Win 7 HP Product Key To Install 64-bit OS Off Of Retail Disc ?
I purchased in June a new computer from Dell with a free upgrade to Windows 7. Â I wanted 64-bit but was not given the option. Â I received my 32-bit upgrade disc from Dell. My brother purchased a retail upgrade and so he has both 32-bit and 64-bit upgrade discs. Â I know that I must do a clean install. Â I want to know if I can use his 64-bit disc to run my install but then use my upgrade key from Dell. So in the end I have 64-bit OS using my product key that Dell gave me.

Will Student Win 7 Pro 32-bit Key Work For 64-bit Later ?
My niece, who's in college ordered and downloaded Windows 7 Professional (one 32-bit and one 64-bit) from win741.com (Microsoft/Digital River deal for students only). I'm going to be installing this on her laptop (currently on Vista 32-bit going to ---> 7 Pro 32-bit), and her desktop (currently on Vista 32-bit going to ---> 7 Pro 64-bit via a clean custom install) this weekend. I'm also upgrading her desktop to 8GB of RAM since she uses this for Photoshop 64-bit and needs the extra memory for the times when she has several RAW D-SLR files and files with multiple layers open. Hence, the reason why we're using 64-bit on that desktop. We stayed with 32-bit on the laptop because they have old printers at her college that don't have 64-bit drivers, so to save her the hassle of incompatible drivers, we stayed with 32-bit on her laptop since it only has 2 GB of RAM. My Question is: If she decides to upgrade her RAM on her laptop later to 6GB, can she then use the 64-bit Windows 7 Pro installation (clean install of course) files she downloaded for her Desktop PC, but still continue to use the key she was given when she ordered & downloaded the 32-bit version?  I know this is possible with the Family Pack which provides 32-bit and 64-bit install CDs and just one key. Is the same possible for the student $30 download deal she got?

Upgrade From Vista Business 32 Bit To Win7 Pro 64 Bit
I have tried to install this software and am unable to do so, either from the unpacked download file, or from the iso file which I created following a thread on another forum.I also tried to install Win 7 Pro using the full retail DVD version I have also purchased and entering the product key I received in the e-mail from Digital River. Is this because I tried a custom install after formatting the disc drive, rather than an upgrade install? (And yes I did double check that I was entering the correct product key exactly as shown in the e-mail.)In other words is the product key for an upgrade version of the software different from the full version. If it is then I will try to install from my retail DVD using the upgrade path which will be easier than trying to get the Digital River software to work.

Can I Install Win 7 X32 Bit Then Later To Win 7 X64 Bit With Same Licence Key ?
I currently run Windows XP x32 bit Operating System. I have ordered the "full retail" version of Windows 7. I understand that 2 discs will be enclosed in the box, one for installing Windows 7 x32 bit and the other for installing Windows 7 x64 bit. I understand that I need to choose whether I want the x32 bit or x64 bit Windows 7 Operating System and install the 1 I choose at that point. I am quite happy with that. However, what I would like to do is initially install the Windows 7 x32 bit system and in about 6 months (when I have upgraded my hardware sufficiently) then move on to the x64 bit Windows 7 Operating System.  Can I do this with the same 1 licence that comes with the full retail version I have just ordered or will I need to buy another copy of Windows 7 ? It would not bother me if I had to do a "clean install" to move from x32 bit to x64 bit.

Upgrade From 32 Bit Vista Business To 7 Pro Problem
From some reason, when I go to do an upgrade install from vista business 32bit to 7 professional 32bit I receive an error message saying that you cant do an upgrade install from XP to 7?? Really stumped about this, I think I have read through just about every topic but to no avail. Doing a clean install is not an option as I have far to many programs and no installation cd's.

Activated 64-bit Upgrade With 32-bit Key From Asus
Mods - I don't think this post is in violation of Posting General Rule #7, but I could be wrong. If so, correct me, teach me the error of my ways, but don't ban me. I kinda like it here. Some background: My wife bought an Asus laptop in either Aug or Sep '09. It came installed with 32-bit Vista and came with a free upgrade to Windows 7 - so that kinda gives a time frame. Of course, we wiped Vista from the machine and clean installed one of the later 64-bit Windows 7 builds and the wife was very happy (always a good thing) with the machine. When Windows 7 was released, we did the paperwork (on-line) to get the upgrade disk from Asus. We finally received the package yesterday. It contained only the 32-bit version of Windows 7 (with a product key) and another disk of drivers for both 32-bit and 64-bit installations (good on them for that). After reading on SevenForums that an upgrade product key would work on both 32-bit and 64-bit (but those accounts have all be related/using the disk set released and sold by MSFT), I was hoping this "rule" would hold for the product key we got with the Asus disk because the lappy has 4GB installed and I would like for the DW to be able to use all that. So, I grab a MSFT 64-bit Windows 7 upgrade disk and start the clean install figuring that if it doesn't activate all I've lost is a little time. Then install the drivers from the Asus driver disk (there were 5 components in the Device Manager wanting drivers). So far all is well. OK, time to see if it will activate. I had my son read off the product key groups while I keyed them in (my eyes aren't what they used to be) and pulled the trigger. Activation Failed! Hoping that I had miss-keyed, we did a quick review - yup, one character got keyed as a "W" when it should have been a "Y". Made the correction in the product key and ...... Success!!! Just thought this might help someone else in the same situation - someone who received a 32-bit version but has access to a 64-bit disk.

Use 64-bit Key On A 32 Bit Upgrade Version
As student I purchased the digital-river Windows 7 Pro 64-bit and I'm happy with it. My university store also lets me buy a Windows 7 DVD for $ 43. I'm considering doing this for a possible second computer or to upgrade a laptop we have. I want to buy the 64-bit version (since the future is 64-bit). It seems the university store either sells 64-bit or 32-bit DVDs, not one of the packages with both DVDs. Could I buy the 64-bit DVD and install one of the 32-bit bit versions with that 64-bit key (the digital river links had leaked) on the laptop for the time being? the laptop only has 32 bit processor. But it might only live for 1-2 years. then I'd get some 64-bit computer. I'd buy the Pro-version. I don't think there is anything illegal, since I legally buy two different student discounts from different vendors. I also will use that one key only for one license at a time (and also assume once I register online MS makes sure it only works on one PC).

32 Bit To 64 - Will The Key Work ?
I recently went to a Microsoft event where I received a free copy of Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit. I am wondering if the Key would be good for a 64 bit version. I would rather have the 64bit, want to download that version and use the Key from the 32bit version. Can it be done?

Can I Install Win 7 32-bit On 64-bit Capable Hardware ?
I have two new computers running Vista Home Premium 64-bit. I discovered that Vista 64-bit doesn't support some old 16-bit programs; while these old programs are supported in Vista 32-bit. I need the compatibility with older applications more than speed, so, Can I install Windows 7 32-bit on my 64-bit capable hardware? Can I do an upgrade, or must I save and do a new install? Or, please make me happy and tell me Windows 7 64-bit has the same support for ancient 16-bit applications as exists in Vista 32-bit.

Where To Buy Upgrade From 64 Bit Vista To 64 Bit Win 7 ?
hello, I currently have a inspiron 531s motherboard with a OEM vista 32bit, I also have a license for vista 64 bit but its an upgrade version, is there any possible way that I can get a w7 upgrade license, I cant afford to buy the full version, I can only afford to get the upgrade version, I was wondering how much it is, a friend of mine purchased a upgrade license from his vista 64 bit to w7 for 50$ I was wondering if there is any way I can possibly do that, I prefer going from my vista 32 bit OEM to w7 64 bit that would be a lot easier but if that wont work I will install my 64 bit vista and go to w7 64 bit, I don't know where to buy the w7 upgrade.

Cannot Upgrade From Win Vista 64-bit To Win7 64-bit
I'm running vista home premium 64-bit. and yet every time i run windows 7 set up i get the following compatibility report: Â The following issues are preventing Windows from upgrading. Cancel the upgrade, complete each task, and then restart the upgrade to continue. You can't upgrade 64-bit Windows to a 32-bit version of Windows. To upgrade, obtain a 64-bit version of the installation disc, or go on-line to see how to install Windows 7 and keep your files and settings. 32-bit Windows cannot be upgraded to a 64-bit version of Windows. To upgrade, obtain a 32-bit version of the Windows installation disc. yes i get both of those 'errors'. the windows 7 IS a 32/64-bit installation disc. it gives me the option to choose x32 or x64 at the start of installation. it just doesn't seem to be detecting my current 64-bit setup for some reason? if i chose to install x32 version, it gives me the "You can't upgrade 64-bit Windows to a 32-bit version of Windows" error. and yet when i choose x64 installation it gives me BOTH errors mentioned above. whats going on here?

Do I Have To Pay For 64-bit Win 7 If I Get 32-bit Free Upgrade ?
I just bought a Toshiba laptop that is eligible for a free upgrade to Windows 7 Home Premium. Unfortunately, it came with 32-bit Vista and from what I can tell that means I am stuck with 32-bit Windows 7 when I take advantage of my free upgrade. The only reason I got this laptop over another I was looking at was this free Windows 7 upgrade. However, I have 4GB of RAM now and would really like to have 64-bit Windows 7, not 32-bit. So here's my question: Do I have to buy Windows 7 64-bit in order to install the 64-bit version, or is there some way to "sidegrade" with one of these 32-bit OEM free upgrade keys. If not, I am feeling pretty dumb because I could have just gotten the laptop I really wanted and paid for the upgrade to 64-bit like I may have to do anyway. Keep in mind I do not care about having to fresh install as I prefer that anyway.

Install 32 Bit Win 7 On 64 Bit Hardware
I'm running 32 bit XP on a machine that I believe is actually 64 bit, but I don't want to deal with all this Program Files (x86) nonsense. It doesn't have enough ram to need a 64 bit OS, and if I get more I can always reinstall. Since Windows 7 will have both bitnesses on one disk, will it be possible to install the 32 bit version on a 64 bit system?

Free Upgrade From Win 7 32 Bit To 64 Bit
I purchased a Toshiba Satellite L555D-7930 from Office Depot on BF this year. I told the salesperson that I needed 64 bit OS for newest AutoCAD app. He and the sticker on the unit confirmed that this unit had Windows 7 - 64bit. I pick it up a couple days later (had them install Office) and return home to begin installation of AutoCAD. I find out that the OS system is actually 32 bit after checking the system properties, and see that it is 64 bit compatible. I call Office Depot and run thru everything, they tell me to call Toshiba to expedite things. I instead have them call on my behalf and the result is a case number from Toshiba with the ultimate answer (after a week of me dealing with both parties) of "NO" from Toshiba and "we will refund your money" from Office Depot. To their credit the people at Office Depot are nice and tried their best, but this whole thing seems like lack of understanding or abilities to me. Can someone please explain whether Microsoft can get my system switched to 64bit (conversion/upgrade) or if there is a preloaded 64 bit OS hidden somewhere in a partition. Have been combing blogs, but due to newness of Windows 7 info./posts seems contradictory at times. Open to any input.

Activate Win 7 Upgrade Using XP Product Key
I am interested in Windows 7 and I am currently running the Windows 7 release candidate. I have in my possession a Windows XP Pro product key. It is not activated on my current computer, due to the fact that it's OEM, and previously activated on an older computer that got fried. If I were to purchace a Windows 7 upgrade package, would I be able to activate it using my XP product key? or would I have to purchase a 'full' version of Windows 7?
