When Will The .help Support (WinHlp32.exe For Win 7 ?
MS said they would release WinHlp32 . exe for Windows 7 once the RTM was released. It's been out for awhile now, when will they make WinHlp32 .exe available?

Support For Winhlp32.exe
I would love Winhelp32.exe support like in Vista where we could install an update.  I tried the Vista Update, but there is no option to 'troubleshoot compatibility' during setup to force a VISTA compatibility for the installation. I need to run a 16 bit program with .hlp file for another few months and it would be nice to run the program WITH it's help enabled, instead of now where the help file is unavailable. Is there any plans to do this Winhelp32.exe backwards installation anytime soon for Win7?

EXPLORER.EXE Crashes, MMC.EXE Crashes, Moviemaker.exe Error
I want to love Win7 so badly, but this is just crazy. I'm about to go back to good old XP, simply for the stability. I'm about fed up with Windows 7 after only using it for two weeks. Off of a brand new and formatted clean install, with only Norton NIS 2010, Itunes, Adobe Reader, and Firefox 3.5.7 installed, I get constant explorer.exe crashes. Shortly followed by an mmc.exe crash, then it just gets caught up in a never-ending explorer.exe crash that only a reboot resolves, for a short time. All drivers are up to date, and all Win 7 updates have been applied. I've even formatted and re-installed Win7 only to have explorer begin crashing a day later. This is all on a stock Dell Inspiron 545 quad core, 8GB RAM, etc. I'm very tech savvy and am about jump off of the Win 7 bandwagon. Maybe the Apple Mac commercials are correct, another fumbled attempt at a stable OS from Microsoft? After extensive reading, it appears that many others are suffering through this ____ also. Some get it while attempting to right click any icon, some when launching apps, some, like me , for no apparent reason at all. I don't ever get the BSOD, but the computer is essentially non-functional due to explorer restarting all the time. I've done a ton of reading and have tried sfc /scannow, which found no errors. I've tried shellexview, to no avail for the context handlers. I've uninstalled and re-installed all non-MS apps. I've tried everything that I've read, and it eventually starts crashing again. It is very random, and I can find no patterns that cause the explorer crashing. It works for two days, then goes haywire. Sometimes it only works for an hour before the explorer crashes begin. And yes, this is a fully licensed and legal copy of Win 7 Pro that I purchased through CDW. A side note, this computer ran WIN XP perfectly. All hardware has been tested and is perfect. If anyone has found a fix for this issue, then please chime in! Below are the errors that populate the Event Viewer: Activation context generation failed for "c:program files (x86)windows livephoto galleryMovieMaker.Exe".Error in manifest or policy file "c:program files (x86)windows livephoto galleryWLMFDS.DLL" on line 8. XP Error After Win 7 Install - Ntoskrnl.exe Is Corrupted
So I just installed window 7 on my 2nd partition leaving XP in my 1st. Windows 7 ended up switching the letter drives making XP the D: while Windows 7 is the new C: I currently get the ntoskrnl.exe is corrupted or missing right away when I boot into XP. So I did the smart thing and put in my Windows XP OEM to repair. However, I get the Blue Screen Of Death right before it's suppose to give me the options of repairing and installing. Any Suggestions?

Does Win 7 Rc Support FTP ?
I installed IIS management tools, created and configured (fairly certain) an ftp share. I've enabled permissions from the Windows firewall to incoming and outgoing FTP resources. I configured my linksys WRT610N for FTP access (Already worked with 2003 server), but cannot gain access from outside my network. I can share files internally, but have not tried to TELNET in or out of the Windows 7 pc. I couldn't find much on technet regarding FTP setup on Windows 7 - any thoughts?

Win 7 Does Not Support New PC Games
Question about PC games. Shall Windows 7 support also PC games that have meant to work with Windows XP and Vista? There is obviously support for the games. Or is it only that Windows doesn't support yet fully 64 bit platforms? For example HP Pavillion dv6000 with AMD 64 AthlonX2 doesn't work with Games that have been made for Windows Vista. Â

Why Does Win 7 Not Support 1900x1200 On Laptops ?
I am trying to figure out why Vista and Win7 do not support 1900x1200 on any of my laptops. I am currently testing on 2 HP systems that are capable of 1900x1200 screens. When I had XP Pro installed I was able to enjoy 1900x1200. When I moved to Vista and Win7 the best resolution I am able to achieve is 1680x1050 on system 1 and 1024x768 on system 2. Seems a bit odd that both Vista and Win7 can not support the resolution on either system yet XP can.

Multi Language Support In Win 7
I'm planning to buy a new PC with Windows 7 (English) and not sure what version I should buy. I need to be able to switch into Japanese language mode for writing Word documents and composing/reading email sometimes. I do not need the desktop, menus etc. to be displayed in Japanese, however. I've found some info on the Internet and MS web site but still confused: 1) I have read that LIPs can be installed on any version of Win 7 but looks like Japanese must be installed as a full install (no parent language). If this is the case, can I setup 2 user accounts and configure one for English and the other for Japanese? 2) Do I need to have Win 7 Ultimate or Enterprise edition to do what I want to do?

Does Win 7 Ultimate Edition Support Both 32 And 64 ?
I would like to ask this straightforward question: does Windows 7 Ultimate Edition support both 32 and 64 bits? I have a legal copy of it and installed it on my Vista Business PC, but it seems to be running at 32 bits only. Is it because of this Vista only supporting 32 bits? How do you tell the bits your OS is running at?

Does Win 7 Support Symbolic Links ?
I'm researching an issue in which Windows 7, Vista, and Windows 2008 Server cannot delete user profiles host on an EMC SAN (The error says that I require permission from the user, even if I AM the user). XP and 2003 Server do not have this issue and can delete the same files without any problems. During my research I've been looking into some of the new features introduced in Vista and up that may be responsible for this issue. I'm away of UAC and have tried all settings related to that without success. I also see that support for Windows Symbolic Links was introduced with Vista (see link) however I can't find out if Windows 7 also supports it. Does anyone know?

Win 7 - Support For Legacy Hardware
Buy new hardware is not an option. ALL Windows OS prior to Vista contained support for Legacy hardware devices. The drivers for these devices would load just fine and run as designed. Then along comes Vista and no more support for Legacy hardware. Please correct me if I am wrong, but Windows XP required less HD space than Windows 7, but XP offered more support for ALL hardware and drivers, while Windows 7 doesn’t allow any legacy support? Now Windows 7 is touted as being the “End-All-Be-All of OS's. I smell Vista in a new package, with no support for legacy hardware. Why is that? Does Microsoft really think that we should scrap the devices that we have and buy new hardware just because we need to in order to run an inferior OS? Linux doesn't seem to have an issue with legacy hardware in their newest releases, nor does Apple. I will not throw away thousands of dollars of hardware just because Microsoft will not support it. My Dell GX270 test platform worked just fine with Windows XP Pro. The hardware did it's job very well. Sorry Microsoft, I am not going to replace all of our systems just because you are too lazy to allow support for legacy hardware. I guess that I am stuck with XP Pro until Microsoft stops supporting it, or comes up with a real live working OS. If I must, I will transition all of the systems to Linux and Microsoft can die a slow painful death. Gee, you would have thought that Microsoft may have learned a lesson with the Vista failure. I guess that the developers at Microsoft have forgotten that WE, the consumer put them where they are at today. Continuation of FAILING to support WE, the consumer will only lead you to continued failure in the marketplace.

Win 7 Support Of Dynamic Disks
I understand there will be a preorder of Windows 7 comming out, but I haven't found informaiton on which version(s) will support Dynamic disks? Background: I had Vista 64 Home Premium and installed Windows 7 (now RC) after adding two 1.5 TB drives which I wanted to run stipped. I couldn't get Dynamic disk to function in Home Prenium and from what I read on the web, I needed Ultamate. Windows 7 was available and worked. The public betas are only Ultimate, so it's dificlut to determine what functionality is lost on other versions. I haven't found a detailed feature list that indicates which versions will support Dynamic disks (Supersite for Windows, searching Microsoft forums).

Win 7 Support For Seagate Disk
In Windows 7 RTM I have had trouble with one of my two HDs, a Seagate 300 GB. During Windows 7 installation, installer "could not find drivers" when the Seagate was the first SATA drive. Once the Western Digital drive was set as the first drive, system installed ok. After installation, the Seagate shows in the Disk Management as 300 GB, but if look at contents with Explorer, it has only 125 GB capacity. Can this be a Seagate firmware problem? (Windows 7 RC earlier had no problems with this drive when the system had Win7RC + Vista + XP.)

Win 7 Virtualization Without Hardware Support ?

Will 32 Bit Win 7 Support 8 GB Ram ?
will 32 bit win 7 public release support 8 GB ram?It would be nice cuz there are 32 bit games + lost's more nice things so I cant use 64 bit os if I wanna use 32 bit soft. If windows serve can handle 128G ram and more then why cant win 7 handle 8 G ram. if you (Microsoft) don't code 8 GB support in 2 bit win 7 u loose ur clients.me for example. I just downloaded 32 bit Ubuntu linux and installed server kernel on it, and now I can use my 8 GB ram :) And I won't buy next windows until these memory limits are 4 GB off topic: if u plan make 8 GB support I can be tester.

Win 7 Product Support Lifecycle
I was looking on microsofts Support Lifecycle web page and found that, windows 7 is only supported until 2015. Well thats not very long. If you have pro there is extended support up to 14/01/2020. Windows 7 has only just been released. Windows should have main support for at least ten years, as it takes that long to get all the bugs sorted out. I also don't want to keep upgrading all the time. XP support runs out on 08/04/2014, so not much point in buying windows 7 then. Link http://support.microsoft.com/gp/lifeselectwin Why is Microsoft doing this?

Win 7 NIC Card Support Lacking
Basic question: Does Windows 7 have built in drivers for NIC cards? I am trying to install Win 7 to a barebones Shuttle K45 system. Win 7 installs seamlessly, but cannot connect to the internet. NIC card light is flashing but no driver. When I try to load drivers from the CD that came with the MB, it complains that it does not know the Win 7 OS so no drivers are installed. Without internet access I can not send MS feedback or get updates. I installed XP, but Win 7 will not do an upgrade to XP. XP works fine. Installed Vista Ultimate and it works fine, NIC and hardware is all OK with these two OS systems. It is just a problem with getting driver into WIN 7 that will allow a Generic Marvell Yukon Chipset based Ethernet Controller to communicate with Router. Any ideas on how I can proceed so I can test Win 7 on this new machine?

How Win 7 Support Open Type Features
I read the Engineering Windows 7 blog. It says: Windows 7 new text system not only uses available OpenType features internally but also allows access to any feature made available in the font in the high level programming interface, making it easier for application developer to discover and exercise the font feature in mainstream scenario. Windows 7 also ships with a brand new OpenType font “Gabriola developed by a well-respected typographer John Hudson. Gabriola makes heavy use of contextual letterforms and offers an unprecedented number of stylistic sets for different usages of the font in different occasions. The figure below enumerates all stylistic sets available in this font; notice the subtleties and not-so-subtle way to distinguish each stylistic set. The figure below also demonstrates the power of contextual letterforms in the eighth rendition of Gabriola’s stylistic set (“ss07) to produce different ways the same word is rendered depending on where it’s at in the line. But I can't find how to do this, even in Notepad or Wordpad. Can anyone tell me how to do this?

Win 7 RTM - Offline Help And Support Broken
I am current using Windows 7 RTM 32-bit and I am having issues with the Help and Support feature in Windows. All of the links seems to be broken, and images are not appearing. There are also weird keywords appearing in the content, e.g __elbasuer__ (Reusable reversed). I have came across a few posts in the forum, but none specifies a reasonable solution to the problem. My friend, who is using the same RTM build is having the exact same problem with me as well. Below, I provide a few screenshots regarding the issue: Switching to Online Help will solve all the problems, but that wouldn't be accepted as a permanent fix as sometimes I might not have internet access and not to mention, it is slower than the offline help.I really hope someone would enlighten me with a solution to fix the annoying issue on the Help and Support.

Support For Parallel (legacy) SCSI In Win 7
I have been running 68 Pin SCSI for quite a long time, and I have a SUBSTANTIAL amount of drive and controllers across my network. I am looking to move towards Windows 7 64 bit, however so far I cannot get the install for windows 7 to detect 19160/29160 or 2 different revisions of 3200S Raid controllers. They are not acknowledged during installation, nor are they detected when installed into a existing windows 7 system. The card is detected as unknown I/O controller and will not load drivers. Is there any way to force drivers into Windows 7, or, are there supported Windows 7 SCSI controllers (both standard AND Raid, raid being the priority). Are there plans to impliment this in the future if it is not currently available.

Win 7 Driver Support For HP DeskJet 5440
I tried installing the driver for Vista, but I wasn't able to and got a message saying it wasn't compatible with Windows 7. However, I was able to install a basic driver that Windows 7 automatically installed when I first plugged in the printer. The printer is able to print, but the problem is that it only prints in black and white. No matter what I do I'm not able to make it print in color. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this problem?
