When Firefox 8 Opens, A Second FF Icon Appears On The Taskbar?
Dec 22, 2011
I have FF8 shortcut on my taskbar. All of a sudden, when FF is opened, there is a second FF icon at the far right of the taskbar (not in the systray). Up until now, when FF opens, its existing taskbar icon would show it was open...there never was a second icon. How do I get back to just one icon?
So for example when opening website LoL Pro - Pro League Of Legends Guides and Videos it looks like this I have had the same problem with some other sites. Sometimes it looks like that, sometimes it works correctly. I dont know if this has anything to do with this, but i runned some kind of computer cleaning program and after that the website started looking like that. But I had the same problem with an other website named solomid.net, but now it works normally.EDIT: Ok when I opened website www.owned.tv it says Quote: Error: the xajax Javascript component could not be included. Perhaps the URL is incorrect
I have a CHM file stored on the OS harddrive.Whenever I try to click on the table of contents, it tries to download the htm file instead of opening it in the adjacent window. All my other chm files work normally. I'm not sure if a recent windows update did this.
All of a sudden I can no longer open or close new tabs using the middle mouse click (clicking the scroll wheel) it doesn work in ie or in firefox. Also seems like it doesn't work on the desktop or any other application. I have'nt installed new updates or new programs, I don't have any "mouse software" like intellipoint. This affects both my wireless keyboard with built in trackball and a serperate wireless scrollmouse. The only think I can think of is that a few days ago I changed the the speed of my cursor.. of course this shouldn't have affected anything else.... but it is really annoying as I mostly use my computer for web browsing and always open links in new tabs..
My husbands PC is not opening properly - he is only getting the wallpaper. No icons or taskbar and Ctrl Alt Delete just makes the whole screen go black. Right clicking mouse brings up menu but they mostly don't work.I see from searching this used to be a problem with xp/vista but not seen it mentioned for Windows 7. Have tried a system restore but that has not solved it.
I only have two icons on the desktop...Chrome and Recycle.I rebooted the other day...and all of a sudden there was 'Google Earth.'Rebooted earlier today...and there was "Norton Internet Security.'
I've had my Windows 7 PC for a year and a half now, and the entire time I've had it I've had Firefox pinned to the taskbar, and when I click on the icon, the program opens AND the icon stays there on the taskbar. It has been like this since I've had the computer. This is how I want it.
I don't know if it's coincidence or not, but today I updated Firefox to version 14, and now when I click the pinned taskbar icon, the program opens and the taskbar icon for Firefox disappears. I know you can set up a quicklaunch workaround (I've done that, but I'm just not satisfied), I know you can click this and that to get a new window to open, but all I want is my computer back the way it has been for the last 18 months.
I can get the functionality that I had back. I've read in certain threads that Windows 7 is designed for them to disappear when opened. It was never this way on my PC and I just want my setup back how I had it. I tried rolling back to FF 13 to no avail.
When I open a program that has been pinned to the taskbar, the icon for that program disappears immediately. I understand that this is a feature of Windows 7, but my girlfriend finds it rather annoying. Is there any way to stop this behavior? By the way, I am using the "Never Combine" option for my taskbar.
For example, the first icon pinned in the taskbar is Mozilla Firefox. When I open Firefox, the icon disappears, and only the other pinned icons remain. I would like to change this behavior so that the icon, once pinned, will remain, even if I open the program associated with it.
When I first boot up my computer and log in, Mhotkey appears on my taskbar for about 20 seconds and then disappears. This has been going on for about two weeks.
hen I watch fullscreen video in any application (VLC, WMP, Mediaplayer Classic), the taskbar appears at the bottom of the screen at random times. In other words, it seems like something is taking focus away from the video. I tried Googling this, but could not find any way to solve it.
in XP you could select Always on top and Auto hide and the Taskbar would be on top of the Desktop but NOT intrude over Full screen programs, In 7 the Taskbar pops up OVER full screen programs whenever the mouse nears the bottom of the screen, making it very difficult to use graphics programs like Photoshop.
I'm told that several people have written fixes for it, but that Microsoft keeps unfixing the fixes...
i am connected to the internet but suddenly the yellow icon apprears and i get disconnected and then have to disconnect the wi-fi again and connect it back. Then it starts workin.
When I plug in my flash drive this shows up in Devices and Printers:
When I Google what's written below it, I only get a few Asian pages.
So what is it and which language is that?
Why would Windows 7 use an Asian driver as its default flash drive driver? Also my flash drive is 8GB. I'm guessing drive capacity doesn't matter for the driver and it just happens to say 4GB.
I have about a dozen Firefox tabs open on my taskbar at the bottom of the screen. Win7 64bit on Dell E6510. But some of them will shift position on the taskbar on their own. Happens all the time, and it's very aggravating because I'm needing to be able to hit them quickly and often and need to have them stay in the expected position. Can't afford the time to hunt around for them. For example [URL]will often move itself to the far right. Even BigCharts.com is doing this now. None of my searches on the web can answer how to stop this. It's easy to grab/drag a tab window for another application around on the taskbar, but within the single application of Firefox this doesn't work. Why/how are these windows shifting around? This never happens on my other laptop, a WinXP SP3 machine.
I am seeing small artifacts on the upper edge of the taskbar (using classic view, I could use Aero if I wanted to). I'm not convinced that this is actually browser related, it is just that since I have a browser up full time, that is what is leaving artifacts behind. If I resize the bar, IE drag it up a notch and back to normal again, the artifacts go away (basically a refresh..).

set up my parents brand new PC running Win 7 64 bit. Basically everything is fine except for 2 things which may be connected?1)Even though I connect to the internet no problem the little blue circle continues to spin in the taskbar as if it's trying to connect.2)I installed the latest version of firefox and that shows a banner along the top of the screen constantly saying something along the lines of updates are being downloaded.I have asimilair setup at home and have not come across this before.I've also installed AVG,Ccleaner and Comodo firewall.
On occasion, when FF7 has been maximize, the Windows 7 taskbar (locked and set to autohide) can not be brought up with a hovering cursor. To get it back while in max screen, I have to fiddle around with minimizing and maximizing while bringing up the taskbar when it is visible...a real PITA, eh? Although I have researched this problem and have found out it goes back at least 5 years, I have yet to see a solution?
Basically, all of the icons on my desktop, as well as my entire taskbar, including the windows icon, have disappeared. It happened about 20 minutes ago, when I forced firefox to close via task manager. After I hit End Process, the icons and my taskbar disappeared. I can't right-click my desktop either. However, my desktop background, as well as the toolbar on the top is still there, and all of my programs as well as explorer are accessible. I've done one cold restart, and nothing changed. I've gone into the control panel, but I couldn't access anything associated to the task bar, and my windows key does not work as well.
Does anyone know how to add an icon button in the taskbar that not only takes me to hotmail email, but displays current amount of emails as well for my windows 7 home premium OS desktop?
my Acer Aspire running Win 7 has stopped showing the audio icon on the Taskbar. Some websites have very annoying music or 'announcements' so I like to switch the sound off - now I can't without going via Control Panel.I have looked in Control panel and found System Icons - and the Sound label is shown as OFF. But the little arrow next to it to change the state is greyed out so I can't turn it back on.I tried the 'show all icons' under Notification Area Icons but the audio still doesn't show.
Something weird has happened to my taskbar. I have a few programs pinned there and everything was okay. Then today I unpinned Firefox from there because I wanted to change the icon I was using. After deciding I didn't like it I tried to go back to the one I was using but when I pinned it back to the task bar this problem occurred:As you can see when I click on the silver Firefox icon, it opens up a new firefox icon (default icon) in a separate place, taking up unnecessary space. I can't figure out how to make it go back to the way it was where everything stayed within the silver icon.
I just installed Windows 7 on my Acer Aspire One netbook, and there is no power icon in the taskbar. When I right click on the taskbar and choose properties, the power icon is turned off and the button that allows you to turn it on is greyed out. I've checked it with the netbook plugged in and on battery power and have the same issue
this thing shows up every now and then in my Taskbarshows up just for a second and then disappearsit looks like camera, a gear, and printerany ideas on what it might be?
I need a way to easily set my power options on my Desktop, i.e. the time it takes to go to sleep mode or screen saver ect. On my xp laptop I can left click on the battery in the taskbar and choose always on, presentation, ect. My desktop has Windows 7 x64, and I can't enable the power icon on the taskbar (Its grayed out in the "turn system icons on or off" ). Is there any way to enable it or a shortcut to the power plan selections in Windows 7 on a desktop?
